Last week, as the public was discussing regional parliamentary sittings, new amendments to the leadership of the Opposition in the House were proposed. This has sparked heated debate in the political sphere and challenged the structures of Parliament. Richard Lumu, the orchestrator of the bill, led the introduction of a Private Members' Bill, which further shifted the discussion by suggesting that the Deputy Speaker should come from the opposition. On The Spot examined the implications of this proposal for the structure of Parliament, the policy framework, and the spirit in which the bill was crafted.

Voting for leader of the opposition after a national election is as silly as suggesting that once a Gold winner is decided , there should be another race to decide who will win the silver. According to Byabakama , 3.6 Ugandans voted for Kyagulanyi . He should be in parliament as Lop.

Have you ever defined the word "elect" and put it in context In my view elect may mean choose basing on one's reasons, so why do you insist on voting to only mean elect. I think we should look at our dictionaries

Its stupid for someone who has been voted for by 3.6 Ugandans to stay out of parliament . The only sensible amendment that must be done is to make the runner-up of the national elections the Lop.
