How do you determine redundancy factor when calculating story drift for SDC D? Thank you in advance man, your vids are awesome and helpful much for me!

Is it possible to have a 4 story building with rho = 1.0 for upper 3 floors, and rho = 1.3 for the ground floor, must we use 1.3 for all floors when any individual floor does not meet the requirements? Thanks

please if you have for example 10 floors it is clear each floor or diaphragm resist less than 35% base shear for example for simplicity each 10% theses condition satisfy if you have a perfect number of shear wall

hey rich, so if a structure has more than 2 stories and one of those story take less than 34% of the base shear, does it mean I can ignore this on the check for Rho

its a little more complex than that. check out the description in the ASCE 7 and also the commentary has great information on this subject!
