I love these headphones but, unfortunately, after 6 months of gentle at-home use, I encountered the failure that many other people have also reported, namely, the plastic part of the FitLok mechanism breaks off, causing the earcup to fall off the headband, rendering these unusable and requiring a warranty repair. It's a shame that an otherwise outstanding build quality is completely undermined by such a cheap little plastic part. 🙁
I see you had the Tygr on the table. How do these two compare? I know one is semi-open back but I'm curious. Did you try gaming with it? How do they sound if you did? I could see this being a nice closed-back gaming headset if Rode releases a cable with a built-in mic (considering that microphones are their speciality).
i played some valorant with them yesterday and drop over 30 kills so safe to say they have good imaging for gaming. I think the headphones have a really good tuning for gaming, makes all the sound cues easily heard. i think i saw someone on reddit post a picture of them using the rode headphone with a mod mic that transmitted both headphone mic and it worked I honestly don’t use the tygr that much for anything, i don’t really like the sound profile in general. The only place where it sounds better than rode is in the mid treble where tygr 300r slightly enhanced that give it good top end detail while the rode is darker. However rode basically is much better across everything else lol
Great review! Do you have any experience with the (now oldish) shure srh940? I think there great for a flat but extended reference headphone imo. If so how do the Rhodes compare?
unsure if this is regards to gaming or music listening but for music listening/studio headphones i would go with Shure 840a, for gaming hyperx cloud alpha s is really good already terms of positional accuracy but more detailed headphone would be hyperx cloud orbit s or epos h6 pro open back headphone
Do you by any chance own a pair of Apple AirPods Max and could compare the inner size of the ear cups? I have watched a bunch of reviews and it seems everyone is observing the inside of the ear cups is small and I am wondering how small? I wish I could just try the headphones myself but I can't. My ears do fit in my AirPods Max and I wonder if the sizing is similar. Thanks in advance.
sorry I don't own apple airpods max, but I have tried airpods max before @ applestore and I can definitely say the apple airpods max headphones opening is bigger
tell me your opinion about beyerdynamic t5 please and about dt 1770 pro how those would compare with rode nth 100 for music listening? i like house music with thic and deep bass. Thanks.
i’ve only tried the dt 1990 and tygr 300 r. in general i would prefer the rode nth has a more pleasing tuning. Beyer generally just have too much treble spike. Subbass probably could be better from rode and most beyerdynamic i’ve tried
I'm honestly not too impressed with em..my problem is I have to turn all my volumes up for them to be loud..and there's some high end info that kinda gets lost..in all honesty I have some akg k361s that beat them In every category..these are the most comfortable and nice build.i like the choice to put the cable either left or right but overall these let me down I can guarantee their next pair will be better seeing this is their first time trying headphones.

Thanks, this is the second video after Z's which actually talked about how they sound. Anyways, instead of just saying bass/mids/treble sound like x or y, try to refer to the part of the song that sealed your opinion on why do you use x or y words to describe its sound. By doing so, it will be easier for the audience to grasp what your are trying to convey. Example: the treble boost in this set makes the high notes from the acoustic guitar in Hotel California sound more forward than other sets.
I intentionally don't mention the songs I used because most people will roll there eyes as they have to experience my taste in music :P, also most people won't know the track I used as well. The song I was referring to for this track for treble was Gracie Abrams "Under / Over" at 24 seconds mark you can hear as her voice sounds more flat as she is hitting higher notes with the rode as compared to other headphones with more treble extension
awwwww don't tease me with "premiere"... I wanna watch the video already. The problem with Rode this time is that they sent review units to mostly podcasters and none of the big names headphones reviewers are releasing videos about these headphones. Most available reivew videos are really rubbish after rubbish with very little portions of them talking about how it actually sounds.
