I got this wheel and it made me look at simagic more seriously and as soon as i possibly can im switching from my fanatec to simagic. Theres no denying what they offer for the price in every category is good.
Like Laston says I would go simucube pro if money and echo system not important to you. However I am only talking about my personal experience I have yet to own a SiMagic base so cant make direct comparisons for you 🤷🏼♂️
Hey Mate, thanks for the nice review! since you got both on the table: wich wheel feels nicer for you: SiMagic GT NEO or Astek Forte Formula Steering Wheel? :) without considering the price difference
The buttons on the forte feels nicer also the forte feels sturdier, shifters on the Neo feels nicer but encoders on forte nicer than neo. Overall the forte I would say is built a little better. I think the layout of the forte wheel is among the best on market that’s why I find myself using it often. BUT if I was buying again and could only buy one of them 2 wheels I would buy the NEO. Price difference with all the features and it’s a good looking wheel makes it an easy choice for me I would buy the Neo but you will be happy with either I am sure. 🙌🏻
After having owned a few Simagic wheels before getting the GT Neo, it's definitely the best bang for buck wheel. There's some cost cutting to meet the price point for sure, but none of those details outweigh the low price point. Really hope they eventually come out with a wheel that takes this design and gives it all the high end materials and build quality of their higher end wheels
@@anticalgary I haven’t. I was close to pulling the trigger on the GT4 but went FX instead. Then later was close to pulling the trigger on a used GT4 and they announced the Neo, so I waited for it. They’ve already said they are working on other wheels with Maglink, so it might be better to wait and see what else comes out this year before making a decision
I am also wanting that high end wheel from SiMagic. If they keep up the direction they going we will all be in for treats in the future 😁 just like you mentioned I also heard they are making more wheels for the MagLink. Exciting times 🤩 Thanks for watching 👀
If you are going to use the rim with the Invicta QR just put the original GT Neo plate on that has the USB-C socket and use a small USB-C cord instead.
I came here to write the very same. 😊 Many people think you need the MagLink for generic USB connection, but as long as you have components that are fine with a USB C Port (which is wired to USB 2 specs with one data line only, so adapters will work) you can use the wheel right out of the box, just pop in your own QR.
@@andreasotto1977 I would only use the USB-C socket if the application is like the Asetek QR system so it won't apply any movement or strain to the USB port on the back of the Neo. If it's a coiled cable from the usb-c port to a hub or a PC it won't last too long before it fails.
This channel is underrated. You're entertaining, have a unique charismatic style, and the reviews are informative, relatable and just the right length. Keep this format, and I'm sure you will blow up soon. Earned my sub, thanks.
Yes yes. 0:15 I bought this wheel and I don’t even have a base for it. I’m surprised how heavy it is, based on how light reviewers say it is. How much do other wheels weigh?!
It’s a fantastic wheel. I can imagine the wait now being agonising long waiting for the base to use it 🫣 Wheels over last few years have become lighter. Lighter wheels let you feel more of the force feedback details in your base. This helps especially with smaller bases of 5-8nm to still feel good. I own and have owned a few wheels that have been over the 2kg mark the Neo almost half that (without qr) at 1.1kg.
I have a csl dd 8nm with mclaren wheel. I'm toying with the idea to sell and get at alfa mini and this wheel. Anyone else done the same and want difference should I expect from the base in terms of feeling etc? Cheers
Hey matey I have not used the Alfa mini myself but I have heard that SiMagic at this moment is offer some of the best force feedback on the market. So I personally would assume it would be a nice upgrade however I’m not speaking with hands on experience here 🤷🏼♂️
It looks absolutely beautiful.. i'm still saving up for my first ever rig, but this wheel will be part of it eventually (maybe down the road and not from the get go, but whatever).
Thanks for watching matey it’s appreciated. As long as you race and enjoy that’s all that matters the rig will come believe me and you don’t need everything now. My first setup I was using telephone books under my coffee table to get a better angle for my wheel. Today you don’t even get telephone books any more 🤯
FYI: Simagic have confirmed they are working on a firmware update to make the encoders position based. Also, there are anodized rotary knobs available for purchase from 3rd parties.
Thks for this review 👌, i have got mine yesterday 😁 if you can do a tuoriel for simihub configuration for this wheel thanks very much 🙏 and now you ve got a new subscriber 👍
Hope you have hours of fun with the new wheel matey 👍🏻 thanks for watching & the sub 😉 I doubt il be doing a simhub tutorial as I am no expert but what I will do is download my simhub profile and put link in description later for you to download 👍🏻 give me few hours I’m away for day with the family 🙌🏻
@thesimcircuit really enjoy your content and the high NM video's...SO FUNNY! Question, I really like the way you have the GT Neo set up, is there a way to copy your Simhub settings, so I don't have to start from scratch? Thanks!
Hey matey thanks for watching. I did each led one at a time. You basically write the code if ABS = X them light this light led this colour. Download my profile from the description of this video then go into simhub and edit you will see what I have done. You can probably copy and paste to your profile it will save you allot of time. I only done it for top 2 encoders but just change led numbers if you want to use on different encoder.
The Grid Mpx is an amazing wheel I have not owned one but have used one a few times, I have no experience with any of Leoxz wheels unfortunately so can’t help you there 👍🏻
You know what I did not think of that I always race with gloves but yea I can imagine the plastic ones or carbon ones feels better to touch than aluminium shifters 🤔
So in order to get the small led markers indicating 1-12 o'clock positions on the front rotary encoders you need to use the wheel via USB and simhub? (I use iRacing)
Yes you can do in simhub but setting up Is a bit tricky. If you download my profile I have in the description you can go in I believe I labelled them so you can see what I did or just copy paste on to your profile 👍🏻
Thanks for watching matey, you know what I have been thinking of trying VR again. I had like 5 years ago but did not like racing with it for more that 15 minutes. Lenses always fogged up I got sweaty also but I’m sure vr has come a long way since then 🤔
I have the NEO which I use for GT racing and the FX Pro for Open Wheels/LMP racing. Of course, the NEO is good for both, but you would be amazed how just 10mm smaller wheel can make for F1, for example. Same in reverse, with the GT NEO it just feels that little more comfortable for GT cars. I love them both.
100% agree with you. I think 280mm perfect for formula cars however if you can only have one I would rather suggest getting a 300mm than a 280 or 270mm but yea if you can have both then that’s best route to go 🙌🏻
1. You don't need to close Simhub to use Simpro, just disconnect the wheel at the devices tab. 2. The funky switches on all wheels are the same Alps Alpine ones, the feel on the Simagic or GSI or Ascher will be the same, the only difference is the knob. 3. The shifters are impressively well constructed and literally 0 flex but they are quite weak, i added 2 extra magnets for each shifter to make it feel good 4. The grips are very ergonomic and smooth, but looks like they only used some layers of rubber and it will wear out specially with gloves that have the stitches on the outside 5. The internals are quite impressive for the price, it has an Arm MCU which is quite powerful, but has some bugs like you cannot rotate the funky switch encoders too fast because it will only send one signal
Wow very detailed comment, I like it. You should do a review 🙌🏻 I got the GSI FPE v2 delivered this week and can confirm that funky switch feels same. But the Neo actually has stronger shifters than the FPE 🤷🏼♂️ I can’t talk bout insides cause if I open my wheel it will never be reassembled in working order 😂 thanks for watching matey it’s appreciated 👍🏻
@@TheSimCircuit Thanks, i might do written reviews in the future. Simagic fixed the funky switch encoder, before it would take me about 11s to go from 0l to 100l in iRacing black box, and now only 6.5s, it's a huge improvement, if you want to test i'm using the Sim Pro Manager 2.0.339 Beta (you can also adjust the bite point pressing one clutch and rotate the right side thumb encoder)
You should do some written reviews you write with so much detail it’s great 🙌🏻 I don’t use funky switches to be honest but will be testing out the clutch bitepoint. Would be amazing to be able to adjust on the go this was on of my favourite features when I had my CSX2.
Evidently you did not watch the entire review matey 🤦🏼♂️ I don’t need to remake anything as I am still using this wheel every week since and have hours and hours of experience with this wheel and few others to boot. I also stand by everything I said in this review and all others I made. Try watching few minutes past the intro one of the thing I like to do on my channel is make an intro to the video I know obviously it’s not to everybody’s taste but I like doing it and it helps to make my reviews less serious and light hearted.
yea I don’t have many complaints mate, I might have a different experience than others but I think it’s very well made for the amount your paying 🤷🏼♂️ always more expensive options available for those who want it I guess. I personally can’t see how much better SiMagic could make this wheel without adding to the price 🤔
Hey matey I prefer the Neo the Forte wheel is very nicely laid out but think the Neo looks better I like the buttons being led’s rather than an led above the buttons. Build quality practically the same. Also you can use the Neo on any base unlike the forte wheel. Does not hurt that it’s cheaper also 🙌🏻
That is a serious wheel mate, build quality obviously next level. The shifters feel amazing on the Ascher, I briefly used it at a sim racing expo. I think you will be happy either way. If you only need a wheel then buy the ascher but if you need other things for your rig then consider the GT Neo and use the left over money for what you need 🤔
@@WittyGooseRacing both very nice with similar build however styling is completely different. Just this week I got GSI’s latest wheel delivered the FPEv2 and so far I can’t compliment it enough it’s a fantastic piece of equipment.
Some viewers pointed out to me that you can attach the Invicta qr directly to the Neo plate without having to get the MagLink then just get a short usb c cable 👍🏻 so even more good news for the Neo 🙌🏻
I did switch back when simucube brought 360hz data rate to iRacing but at this moment the invicta base is back on my rig after they launched racehub 3.0 that I wanted to test and honestly I can’t be bothered switching between bases all the time so I decided to stick with invicta at the cost of a little bit of detail when driving. I love the astek QR so much and how my wheels are powered instantly without having to switch cables also the 5 usb-c ports on back of base connect my shifter, handbrake & ddu so cables look a bit neater. 100% noticed difference in smaller details of ffb when going back to invicta after using my simucube pro and I am hoping that astek will soon also support 360hz on iRacing as it’s my main sim. So to break it down both bases are amazing but the simucube now definitely has a bit more details in the ffb compared to the invicta where before they were basically even. But the invicta comes with few other quirks that simucube does not have 🤷🏼♂️
@TheSimCircuit thank you for the detailed reply and feedback. My main sim is ACC. I will take these with me for selecting my next base. Time to upgrade my DD1.
Hey matey thanks for watching 🙌🏻 no you do not need simpro open ever unless you need to change clutch bite point. Everything else is controlled via simhub without ever having to open any SiMagic software 👍🏻
I have numerous wheels previously my Cube Controls GT zero was my FAV, Now the NEO has been on my base since I got it, had so much fun configuring the LEDs with Simhub, awesome review as ever check my latest video if you want to see mine inaction ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-13ayTpa_ckw.html Thanks for the profile, I will check it out keep up the good work
