Sims 4 base game: Sunny every day. Children always smile (no phases or mood swings). Infants instantly know how to sit up and crawl. The base game is like a spooky utopian delusion.
Like a truman show simulator. Or those mannequin families they'd put up in the fake towns they used to blow up nukes. Except those things are interesting.
@@luh.4968 the sims 3 doesn’t look ugly though, i feel like that’s such a widespread fallacy. The game is actually gorgeous, maybe the sims are not to people’s taste, but the worlds are beautiful in my opinion :)
I didn't like base game sims3 either (sims2 all the way) but then when sims3 got EPs to make it fun, it was unplayable. I'm having fun with sims4 and all EPs (I *hated* base game sims4 too. Refused to buy it for a long time.) My game doesn't lag unless I've played for a long time without restarting. Not sure why Satch has so much lag.
This is why so many challenges immediately appeared when the game came out. Not that there weren't challenges with earlier games, but TS4 NEEDED them. The one I remember doing most often was the one where you had to complete the mansion baron aspiration while never leaving your 8x8 square home. Edit because auto correct is a weird thing sometimes.
Sims 4 basegame is very lacking It can be fun at the start, but as soon as you realise there’s not a lot to do you just stare at the screen wondering what to do since you’ve done everything The only thing I like that EA did was making the basegame free, because it’s that shallow in my opinion
now imagine my feelings, cause i baught the basic sims long ago and that was the only thing i could buy. now, when it is free, they didn't give me any gift at least)))
@@artforjoyofficial Didn't they give everyone a free kit? It doesn't make up for the price (especially if you bought when not on sale) but I guess it's something.
I still get sometimes don’t have fun because I’m so use to having a decent amount of packs when I played on Console so my mods can’t make up for anything because I have no where to travel 😭😭
Unless it's like a book store that isn't on an actual lot and in the same area as your house, cause then you can just walk there and buy a book without loading screens, that's why I like turning some of the rental houses near the ski slope into residential lots, that way the sims can just go skiing from their house and never have a loading screen.
@@onidaaitsubasa4177 Yes, that’s actually a good idea. I might do that when I get SE 🤔 They can also give us open neighborhood with just one or two public lots. I really don’t know why they don’t do it. We almost have it anyway…
@@TheDawnofVanlifeand it was very fun. I loved the way community lots worked in TS2, I used them often. I think it’s because people actually showed up to them and I could design my own neighborhood aesthetics
Love how the sims 4 is lagging with base game, yet here I am playing sims 3 with all expansions except for island paradise and into the future installed, and it's working like a dream!
@@saganathasme it has to be a bug lagging the sims 4, and if you can't run the sims 3 that will be because you need to be selective of the expansions you use at one go. Island paradise and into the future were the really big ones, if you have those packs installed with all the rest your game will lag, and possibly crash. To play those packs, you can't have many others installed at the same time. It's because they were so full of content that they can't run well with all the rest installed, as well as any add on content. The sims 4 has been lagging for many people, I don't think it has to do with the extra content, I think the game is actually broken due to prior updates. I have a gaming laptop, not the most expensive or the best, but it's still able to run all the sims 3 packs at once, as well as add on content e.g. extra worlds and lots. But with my sims 4, it lags quite frequently and that only started happening after a couple of updates. The fact some people have it and not all tells me it's a glitch, you were just fortunate to not get it.
@@izzyneubs it's such a shame, it's because they are so full of content they can't be run smoothly with other packs 🥲, sims 4 could never. I can run them all at once, but it's like playing Russian roulette whenever the game lags/freezes. So you would be frantically saving your game just in case the next lag is the game ending one 😂 Island paradise is such a great pack, and I've barely explored it yet cause I usually play without it. World adventures is my favourite pack, so I get enough exploring/adventuring fun from that.
Yes, I miss the old games, 2 and 3. You could do so much in their base games. Like, we'd still be discovering things months later. Sims 4 base game is boring, even boring to watch.
Quisiera poder decir lo mismo, pero los sims 2 me aburre como el infierno, aún estando completo, con mods y cc. Personalmente, prefiero los sims 3 y 4, me siento con más libertad de hacer mis propias historias novelescas ahí.
I have all the packs and I use CC & Mods to make it more fun. I could not play without my mods! I couldn’t imagine playing just base game. I remember when it first came out I downloaded it immediately and I got so bored within a half hour I just got back on sims 3 😐
I played it for hours I like it but so far base game is getting old after 209k simoleon made from freelancing and painting with my son 😂 he's now elderly and about to die his son is getting old to
@@lydiaraine8363 i 100% agree but i think that's been a factor since sims 2, yeah in the og game sims were ugly and u couldn't really customize them but in every game since making ur sim and their house has been a pretty important part of the gameplay imo BUT i think the base game premade sims and builds in sims 4 are really boring and lazy compared to previous games
The only smart thing they did with the Sims 4 base game was to make it free. Even though that's also a cash grab because people realize how dull it is and that they'll need a couple of packs to play it.
honestly always will prefer the sims 3. i just can't play any more due to my comp not being able to run it. but i do miss it. always seemed to have something to do and far less loading screens for me was always a bonus. used to love watching my sims drive around, and watch them ride horses around. but at least i can run the sims 4. and with mods, it at least adds interesting things to do
Did you re-install the sims 3? It depends on your graphics card & cpu as well. I’ve started playing mine without barely any cc bc I have like 12 expansion packs and my laptop will LAG if I have anymore cc 😭. But that gameplay makes it worth it!
@@Nominaze Have you installed any of nraas sims 3 mods? it makes the game run so much better and also look up the GPU sims 3 mod so that the game can recognize your newer GPU you need the sims 3 GPU mod or else the game assumes you are playing with no GPU
It’s actually awful that the base game is so glitchy. I was playing the Sims 2 today and honestly lost track of time - there was so much to do; so many places to visit and even though the game is similar, the Sims 2 is far superior, as is the Sims 3 - my only gripe with the Sims 3 is that it is so laggy…
The Sims 2 is the most stable unstable hot mess ever and I love it so much. “Forgot to make this one file read-only? ENTIRE GAME CORRUPTION BECAUSE YOU ‘ACCIDENTALLY’ ADDED GRIM TO YOUR HOUSEHOLD, REINSTALL” “30,000 mods/cc and playing on a potato? NO LAG NEVER CRASH PLAY FOREVER”
I remember when I got The Sims 4 for the first time. I was 14 I think and it was the first Life Simulation game I got. My parents weren't gonna pay for more packs so I only had the base game. Since it was my first Life Simulation game and I only had made experience with The Sims Freeplay before, I was super impressed by it! I could play for months on end without getting bored. But I was 14 back then and didn't have anything to base it on. Now I'm 22 and I would get so bored playing the plain base game. Times have changed, Sims 4 is being played by adults too now and the game developers have to accept that. They won't win new players with a plain base game like that. Making the game free was a good decision, but I still think they should update the base game a bit.
I even think adults play more than kids and teens bc usually we can afford all of it. so I don't really understand why developers can't accept this fact
i’m a base game girlie and i make gameplay fun with chaotic mods lol. basemental drugs, wonderful whims, tragic life mods, extreme violence, deadly toddlers, teen pregnancy, etc.
Indeed, if you want to raise a family, you need Parenthood and Growing Together. If you want the kids to actually be able to do stuff, then you'll also need Toddler Stuff, Kids' Room Stuff, and High School Years.
Idk, out of those I only have Parenthood, Growing Together, and HSY. I’ve never felt hollow for missing Toddler Stuff (TS4 actually has the best toddlers out of the entire series, it is consistently one of the worst life states) or Kids Stuff (I mostly feel the absence of kids not being able to actually play with each other.)
I only bought a few packs and the rest is mods lol can’t play it without mods that’s why I refuse without mods. If console was like sims 2 I would most definitely play but sims 4 went downhill and can’t do nothing right
@@itsdianax get famous, cats and dogs, snowy escape (I think that’s the name of it 😭), seasons, parenthood, city living, dine out, bowling night, backyard stuff, spa, and laundry day. I had got three of them from a bundle together all I really just purchased that really add gameplay even tho it’s still buggy lol
I remember enjoying the base game way back in 2014, I still enjoy the game today, but it's due to my ability to just create the stories with goals in mind. Though there is one thing I wish they'd remove, it's that damned game lag where frames go to 15 for no reason.
I always enjoyed micromanaging sims (a necessity back when it was legit hard to keep everyone happy) and making their life hard. I remember when sims4 first came out i was iffy but still got it. Then the first thing that i did was do a rags to riches and became wealthy immediately because you'd plant a plant once and every day after it was grown be able to harvest. In sims3 plants needed time to grow, could be harvested twice, and then died and you had to keep back the produce from the last harvest to increase quality and plant again. Seasons made it harder since you had to go out immediately after the last frost to plant (plants would bug out if they were grown but went dormant before harvesting), and you had just enought time to harvest them all before first frost. Sims2 you paid money to be able to plant, then you got 1 harvest from it. Now i can enjoy sims4 more. I have a large farm for my sims including a cow and chickens and they have to grow their own food. Children need a lot more attention so there's more micromanaging there. But the biggest problem is it's too easy to reach your goals and then you already have more than everything that you need
Definitely needs mods for immersive gameplay (IMO!!) Ps you shouldn't have to add " I'm not wearing lipstick this is natural" to your caption but I'm sorry ppl made u feel like u do 😢 You're one of the realist out here so ty for the videos!!
I just downloaded Sims 4 ten days ago, already put nearly 40 hours into it. I don't have the money rn to buy a bunch of packs, so I'm just going with base game. I was super excited to make all my OCs but I'm already fairly bored with Live Mode. I'm enjoying just building mansions way more. Seeing y'all's discussions on how boring and bare-bones base game is is both validating and concerning to me. I'm really trying to save money but aahhhh, a dumb amount of what should be base gameplay is behind paywalls! Kinda frustrated at EA, ngl
You can get some good mileage out of a good bundle next time they go on sale (I own most expansions and game packs, but I’ve only ever bought them on sale and in bundles). Bundle 1 Idea: Growing Together/Parenthood/Moschino (for the camera) Bundle 2: GTW/DineOut (with Carls Mod)/Movie Stuff Bundle 3: Seasons/Parenthood/Moschino OR Movie stuff Bundle 1 is good for family gameplay, 2 is good for community lot building, and 3 is “if I could only have three packs, which would I get.” Idek why I’m so attached to the movie stuff pack, but Moschino adding that standalone camera and pose markers makes it super useful. Also, possibly unpopular opinion, I use clothes from it at least once per save just because I love the heels and skirt so I’ve gotten a better “dollar-to-hour played” ratio out of Moschino than almost any other pack I own. Like only Seasons gets a similar return on value and that’s because holidays and weather are constant lol. Which, it’s good to keep that ratio in mind if you worry about wasting your money. As long as you can get 1 hour of playtime out of every dollar you’ve spent on a game, that’s a pretty decent deal.
If you're absolutely desperate for it, you can just pirate it you know. No need to feel guilty, EA is as scummy as it gets. Give them the same respect they give their customers: none. (Just be careful where you get it from. Malwares are not fun.)
I have been playing the multiplayer mod with my fiance, and honestly having limited packs has made it a bit better. The lag isnt nearly as bad and I actually have been enjoying doing builds for us with limited packs. I think the ones he has are actually pretty good picks, because he is a gameplay person. So he has get to work, dine out, and cottage living. So we have been doing dine out (with carls mod) together and its been suprisingly fun.
I play only base game because I ain't paying 40 dollars for some extra items and functions. I had plenty of fun. I feel like one of the main reasons I have so much fun is because I am a very roleplay inclined person, so I like making myself and lots of people I know to see how they interact.
When I got the sims 4 for the first time(in 2018) my parents wouldn’t pay for packs because they were afraid that their credit card was gonna get hacked .Yesterday I finally convinced them to buy me the Island living,The seasons and the get together packs and they add so much to the game play like weather, holidays, mermaids, two new worlds and much more .
basegame can be really fun if you create lots of chaotic stories, you don't need all the packs to have a blast playing. even though they cam give you more posibilities, it always depends on HOW you are playing it
Quite honestly its so fascinating to see base game played by someone who has EVERY pack because with every pack like theres almost too many options that its just insane, now I wish we could see playing base game through with only one pack at a time and each ones usability! Like for someone who has all the packs and talks about them as they get them ONTOP of everything, like yeah I can imagine its easy to say yay or nay, but like playing base game with ONLY that pack, like how game changing does each pack make the game from a realistic standpoint of say a 13 year old who can ONLY afford one pack. I just think when reacting to packs, BASE GAME + ONLY ONE PACK would be super interesting for understanding how fun is packs from a realistic standpoint of you can only afford one, lmao.
Until this year I only had seasons and still loved the game. Now I have jungle adventure, growing together, toddler stuff, Moschino party, and tiny living.
WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT THE BOOKSTORE- so true. It’s so disappointing we can’t purchase books at a store like in the other games. Little things like that is what makes it funnnn.
I just recently installed the base game of The Sims 4 since it goes free, never played it before, so it's my first chance to give it a try, I'm not really fond of building home or creating sim from scratch (but I love to set their outfits) so I just use Andre DaSilva and move him to Sandtrap Flat, and yeah like people said, the gameplay in live mode is pretty shallow compared to The Sims 2 or 3 base game, even with its bulky size of 21gb, the performance is alright with a bit of lag in high graphics + laptop mode, but The Sims 3 run much smoother in my laptop, with highest graphics and only one lot in high details Overall I'm quite enjoy it but not nearly as fun as previous titles, The Sims 4 could never..
Buyer's remorse kinda hit me watching this. I could disable everything. But think of the pain admitting it's better without them, lol. I might do it anyway. Yeah, it's a done deal. 65 DLC to uncheck. If I enable one later, it'd probably be Parenthood. Def not growing together. I just love the simplified build/buy and interactions
I feel this lol. I'd probably leave on Get To Work too cause I use the alien skintones a lot. Whenever I reinstall Sims 4 it's solely because it has the best mods and my Sims 2 is being crashy
To be fair (assuming you managed to get the limited edition and the free holiday pack and the kit that was free for everyone who already owned the game) you probably could have a little bit more fun, like with the holiday pack you can pretend to have seasons. And the kit means you can I guess pretend all the dudes in the neighborhood are barbecue dads
@@StarSkies- i mean, now i'm not saying you should rob ea ( a totally great, ethical company who definitely doesn't want to take all our money), you could always harness your inner Jack Sparrow and 🏴☠ if you know what I mean
I didn’t start playing The Sims 4 til 2017ish, when it was free to download for a week for some reason. I remember opening the game, being so offended by the lack of flooring options (and swatches!!), exiting out, and immediately going to download CC lol
to me the game was fun with base game before I ever played with packs. But once you play with packs u realize how bad it is without any. The same thing goes for cc
love how at release they justified the lack of content in the base game with "wanting it to run better on low-end machines" yet nowadays the game is so laggy that it's nearly unplayable. i have a shitty laptop (had a better one before, but it broke and i had to switch to this one) and was surprised to find out that the sims 3 with all expansions and mods runs better (with graphics in medium settings) than the sims 4 (i play with all packs and mods now, but i tried without and it still lagged a lot, and that's with graphics mostly in the lowest settings). idk if anyone has experienced the same. on my old computer the experience was the opposite, the sims 3 ran well for the most part (all packs, mods, and high settings) but crashed a lot (never crashed in my new pc), while the sims 4 ran smoothly with all packs, a shit ton of mods and cc and on the highest settings
Sims 1, it was new and since there was no digital downloads, patches or updates, additional packs were needed, but more for ease of play, and for way less $$, with tons more content (although, when they did offer the entire game, with all the dlc, the fixes were all made). Sims 2 did offer updates, patches, as well as digital updates, so even those on a budget had quite a bit of content, although they never did fix the base game corruption issues (thanks to modders, clean templates of hoods/sims features/etc., and SimPE, along with bodyshop, they were fixed). Sims 2 even had 3 neighborhoods, complete with scripted scenarios (Lore galore), aliens, and with all the updates and patching, a more complete base game experience (minus seasons, which should be in every base game). Again with Sims 3, the base game was jammed packed, and while it often would break when new dlc was introduced (with the base game updates), most patches did fix that up, except for the 32 bit/64 bit issue (which is the primary reason for all the lag). And while Sims 3 did become quite costly, having more dlc than its predecessors, especially the store content (but if you were a veteran player, were around when ads could be watched for SimPoints, followed the daily deal rotations, the entire store could have been purchased for free, except for a couple worlds & their premium/extra content, which were sold for real money, not SimPoints), however, Sims 3 dlc (especially expansions and Store Worlds were jammed pack with content). Sims 4 is nearing a decade old, yet still keeps base game features of previous games hidden behind paywalls. Sims 4 is bare bones, as is each of its dlc. Even though Sims 4 offers far more dlc than its predecessors, none of it is jam packed with content, and you need to buy multiple packs to come even close to the content of any of its predecessors. Even Sims 1 has more to offer than Sims 4, sadly. Here's to new beginnings: hope Life by You and Paralives gives the base game experiences that EA chooses to hide behind paywalls, forcing them to either truly listen to its community, or crash and burn like Sim City vs. City Skylines.
I know everyone and their mom says this constantly but I really do wish they had Sims three and two mechanics Like Sims three is bomber to me literally it’s hard as hell to get a promotion but the joy and gratification that just goes through me when I get that promotion is something people need to experience and I always felt engaged and encouraged to leave my lot because there was always some thing going on
It’s honestly really sucky cuz when you download the sims 4 they make you download all the dlc you bought and harass you when you’re in the title screen and downloads the “missing packs” you didn’t want to download
I play the basegame and i somehow manage to enjoy it, but lets be honest, its missing a lot of things. And homesly its good that they made it free because its not worth money.
I feel like you need to repeat this with a full household with children and toddlers. The game will always be easy with one person, but keeping small sims alive (and in the real world) raises the challenge level significantly...
I could only afford the sims 4 base game on the PlayStation and played it for yeaaarssss! I must’ve had an amazing imagination lol now I have a pc and all the packs and mods/cc idk how I enjoyed it before 😅
Yeah NOT much FUN at all. I HAVE TRIED that idea once before and NO. Just NOT FUN with out packs. Ty for your video though. It was still interesting to see. I enjoy your vids too.👍✌
I just started playing on PC after playing on console for years so now I don’t have any of my packs and idc I hate base game. The furniture is terrible and there’s no thing to do but go fishing 😭 you can’t even swim on ponds with the base game maps, you can only “look for frogs” or go fishing 😭
I remember i used to play sims 4 without ANY packs for like solid years until i once managed to buy a 20€ origin card and get city living it felt like a whole new game to me lol
I remember I was so excited to get the Sims because when I was younger I saw someone play it (it was still the sims 3). When basegame became free, I could not wait to play. The disappointment that came over me when I realized how boring it was. I stopped playing after 2 weeks of giving it the benefit of the doubt. Luckily I found mods and CC. EA needs to be paying these creators honestly because they make it playable Even the sims Freeplay is better than the basegame
Has my game been broke this whole time because this video made me realise infants can crawl mine just sit on the floor waiting for me to pick them up.......
I personally can’t afford any packs of the sims 4 and use to play it with just base game and a crap ton of mods cos the base game was just so boring and repetitive. I now only play the sims 3 and sims 2. The sims 2 I have all the games cos I got them all when I was younger but the sims 3 is perfect just basegame! So much more fun and only a couple of mods I have on that but other then that sims 3 is superior and the sims 4 is now just a money grab game 😢
that weird feeling when I play sims whole my life without any packs and think that it is ok ^^' but still, actually, babies have some mood swings in basic pack, and it is possible to change their diapers (in extra menu). Also, it is possible to create some memories by making things together. For example, you can cook, or you can "cook with..." and then you can see this moment in the profile of the sim you done things together. but if that sim is not much sentimental, maybe, this memory won't be too special...
Going from TS3 with all packs to TS4 base game sucked. I didn’t buy it when it first came out though so lucky me could bundle a load of packs straight away and it got a lot more fun. The downside is I’ve never really gotten to know what’s in any of the packs so I end up using the same bunch of items and swatches all the time, and there’s a ton of gameplay things I’ve never checked out…
I keep my drinks in my mini fridge. We definitely dont have a bar. Although i will say a lot of higher end homes in thr US have bars in the basement entertainment room.
I couldn't image playing Sims 4 without mods. Mods literally make the game worth playing for me. But even then, the game itself is so glitchy and scratched, I still get frustrated playing it at all. Glad they added a calendar to the base game though. That should be an included feature of the base game. It's amazing how many essential things they either put in a $60 pack or an update we had to wait 5 or more years for.
You could go shopping in Sims 2 base game BUT not books. Books were included in the shelves and you only had one and the same for the three skills you could learn at the shelf: Cooking, Mechanic and Cleaning.
I love the Sims franchise as far as all the stuff they have given us, BUT I find the gameplay of the base game way to boring to even attempt. In fact, I have to include mods to enjoy it fully =)
how nice it sometimes is to just start with a "clean" slate. somtimes i feel like its too easy to get overwhelmed with the game. right now im playing the game with off the grid and simple living lot challenges on while trying to keep myself alive eating from what i can grow mostly only. the days seem to last only for one moment.
I just play the base game but only started about 7 or 8 months ago and on my 10th Sim, but I've created about 30 others to help populate my primary game. I play maybe a couple hours here and there around 1 or 2am when there's nothing else to do, I don't sleep well at night due to working years of night shifts from 11pm to 7am. I don't buy a house or get my Sim a job at the start, and I definitely never adopt a kid unless I've finished playing a Sim and set them free in my world to be a Townie and moved onto a new Sim. I buy a lot to garden to sell fruits & flowers that I randomly Harvest around the worlds until I get a few dozen Orchids, quick and easy in the base game. Make a couple friends, get the Always Welcome trait and couch surf to avoid paying bills and busk at the park for extra cash at the start. I just do random stuff to build Skills most of the time, visit every lot and hang out to use their stuff, fish every pond, river and stream, collect things, fix and upgrade random objects everywhere, so when they have their own place they Instant Upgrade everything. When my Sim is rich enough from selling Orchids (which are usually cared for by a Gardener except on weekends) I build them a nice house specifically for their personality and lifestyle I decided for them during their journey of self discovery and slacking off. That's when they finally get a job, and they're usually promoted up the ranks pretty quick due to already having leveled up their Skills and Traits living in other Sims' houses like a squatter. After awhile I create a new Sim and set them free, if they didn't die accidentally. I have Auto Aging turned off. TBF I spend more time building my Sims' homes than playing them. I don't like the in-game house designs or remodeling them and the Gallery choices are limited for base game, plus they all look cheap, uninspired with the same aesthetics, so I design my own homes with lots of angles, windows, skylights, lighting and huge open rooms usually centered around the kitchen that have good foot traffic flow, pools, nicely landscaped yards with activities. Creating unique lots with unlimited cash flow makes for a happier Sim for when I really start taking that Sim's life choices and career seriously.
You can create memories in the Sims 4 base game by taking screenshots and clicking Make Memory or whatever. But I hate that this is the only way to do it.
I actually did like base game tbh. I played for a good two months though before my laptop broke so i may have gotten bored eventually but who knows. It was fun when i had it. Now ive got like five packs though so lots more gameplay
I have just the base game (sadly) on ps4 and YES it's so laggy that i thought there is something wrong with my ps4 at first, but no the console is fine in every game, it's just the sims 4!
Hahahahaha getting ride of the child was savageee and fun ♥ Sims 4 w/o expansions is super boring, that's why they gave the free expansions on Epic Games lol
Do they always crawl? Like in sims 3? Or can you teach it how to walk. I have seen many sims videos but none of the toddlers have been crawling, Is it bc of toddler stuff or parenthood?
What I don't think about live careers or things like it like going to school in highschool, is that when I go back home, the time doesn't quite match and the needs of the other sims is all over the place like they don't know how to take care of themselves even if they do just fine if I'm in the lot and I let them take care of themselves.
I’ve been unable to play the sims 4 for months now. Every now and then I try but I’m bored to death. I got probably 80% of the DLC (yes i’m a loser), and I still can’t get any enjoyment out of the game😅😅😅
