This camera is just the perfect everyday/travel size camera while still has plenty enough for photo/video performance. I sold my a7rv for this camera and I couldn’t be happier. It makes a huge difference on a daily basis.

Why the a7cii over the A7cR? I want one and love the A7cR ability to still have 26 mp stills when cropped but damn id like to save 1000 haha Wedding photographer here and I shoot with an A1 and A7iv

The size of the camera is really the main thing that sold me on the A7C and now the A7CII, and I actually do use the EVF a lot. The main reasons are that I learned on a 35mm SLR system, lol, and so all my reference points are "full frame". The full frame resolution is always welcome. Also, I want the smallest possible camera to take while hiking, or a camera that can be easily mobile while moving along big crowds. Finally the EVF is a plus because it helps me isolate everything and just focus on the image at hand. While there are bigger and better cameras out there, this size being full frame hits a good sweet spot for me.

Not sure if I will regret it but went for the A7IV basically because it was $550 cheaper (including cashback) here. Also, I like the joystick. Love the idea/size of the A7CII, but as I’m planning to use the Tamron 28-200 as my go-to lens, the point of the smaller body size seemed less significant.

My 40 2.5 would make a great combo but… I could very easily regret it. Whereas I’d never regret the A7RIV. It’s just a little bigger than my A7R

I’ve been shooting years in one memory card slot. Not an issue. Knock on wood. I just review all media before leaving and dump to backup.

Makes a great YT content camera and backup to an A7RV which is a great primary stills camera and for B roll. Sony's finally got a system that makes sense for what I need/do.

No. But I do like the design with the EVF in the corner, the EVF should have had much higher resolution and higher magnification, it lacks a joystick and a mechanical first curtain shutter, so this is not for me.

Hey Chris! When you go into Apsc-crop mode in video and then add clear image zoom, do you get the eye autofocus like you do with clear image in full frame mode? Is there any limitations to this? Does 4K 60fps in crop mode + clear image retain the full autofocus features or do you have to stay in 24/30fps? If yes to all, that’s a huge extremely usable focal range for video, especially with a sharp wide angle prime like the 20mm 1.8 🤞🏼

Torn between this, the A7IV, a6700 and FX30. What one has, the other doesn’t which makes it an impossible decision. All for very similar prices.

Sony a7IV for professional hybrid use. Dual card slot, amazing low light, full frame sensor and 4k slow motion. If you are planning to use it for photo and video definitely go with a7iv. A7cII is best for travelling, its almost the same as the a7IV but it doesn't have dual card slot or full size HDMI port for external monitor. Its lightweight, small and lighter than a7IV so if you are not planning to do professional shoots like weddings, commercials, its the camera for you. The FX30 is an APSC sensor camera so it might not be as good in low light as the full frame models but it is an entry level cinema camera so if you are planning to use it just for filmmaking and cinematography it is a beast of a camera. FX30 on the other hand does not have burst shooting mode for stills so its definitely not the best camera for photography. A6700 is also APSC camera but for its price its almost the best choice for beginners and people who are planning to go professional. Its a really good travel camera with 4k slow motion, even 4k 120 with a crop. 26mp photos are good for almost any type of photo work so if you don't need full frame sensor, dual card slots or best low light camera, this is the camera you should go for. Overall I'm having the same problem as you choosing between these cameras but I think Sony a7IV is the best overall camera for its price and capabilities. Hope this helps :)

But it is not much smaller than full size a7, it's like such with a bigger evf attached on top, why people don't carry a7 as edc but suddenly want to carry a7c as edc?

Just got mine the other day, and have to disagree with the stabilization. It's no better than the original, which wasn't that great to begin with. Anything over 35mm starts to show wobbles. I've been spoiled by the ZV dynamic.

I went to have a quick look today. Did not see the C2 but the C. It baffled me why hey can't move the lens just a little to the left you your fingers do not have to be pressed ageists the lens. The space in there is REALLY not enough! I did not took offense of the view finder at the beginning. But once compared to that of the ZF's, I just can't knowingly accept it...

Sony’s A series has the most confusing naming structure ever! I can only think it’s designed to baffle the consumer . Once you’ve spent countless hours trying to figure it out you’ve invested so much time you’re kind more determined/committed to purchase. Or perhaps they just know camera freaks love to geek out on specs & thought they’d throw some into the name 🤔

What's the longest handheld exposure you can achieve with the new IBIS system? (whilst still capturing a sharp photo of course). I could get down to 1/8 second on my original A7C using a 50mm lens which left a lot to be desired.

I love my a7c (silver) for travel/street/everyday. I'm torn between the a7cii vs ZV-E1 for my upgrade. The Active Dynamic and 4k60 uncrossed is leaning me towards the ZV-E1 as I'm starting to do more video. Ugh! You're really moving me to the a7cii though... ugh

Do you think the A7CII paired with the Sony FE 85mm f1.8 Lens would be good for taking headshots/portraits and getting clear/in focus eyes? I currently have this lens paired with a A6500 and get fuzzy looking eyes and image quality not crystal clear. I'm looking to upgrade and want to know if this would be a good choice camera. Unless you have any other recommendations. Thank You!

Must be your shutter speed is too slow for 85mm at 1.5x Crop on A6500. But yes, it will be clearly better night and day!

Thank you for the video. Value your opinion. I currently own an A7RV and several A1s but want a smaller camera for travel. I also use to own the A7C and A7IV but sold those both and had plans to buy an A7C II but as really only a still shooter I got convinced to instead pre-order a A7CR. Was going up to the higher resolution a mistake? I did like the images from both the A7IV’s and A7RV’s sensor. In the interim I did pick up an A6700 but most of my Sigma I-Series f/2 lenses really don’t weigh any more than there APS-C f/1.4 equivalents so will probably sell that when my A7C II/R arrives, Have bigger GM lenses for the A1 and A7RV but plan to keep the sizes down on what ever A7C II/R body I buy. Please help me out.

For the price this looks very good. I'm laughing (as a former Nikon user) at the new ZF retro being touted as a great video camera, which its not. 2023 and Nikon just now discovers the flippy screen and slaps it on a photo-centric camera! if you already have a decent Sony for stills but want better video, would the ZEV1 be a better choice? Thanks in advance for this video.

just bought a a7c2 and i set the 10 bit 4.2.2 color, 4k 60p 200mbps file setting, but the file does not process in my video editor, pinnacle studio v26 ult. so what editors do you people use to edit these files?
