Fun fact : the term foil in literature comes from jewellery, where a piece of metal foil is used to line a place where a shiny rock will be placed. It helps reflect the light that shines through the stone and makes it appear brighter

I think part of being overly trusting of ppl saying stuff online in the fnaf fandom might be because so much of fnaf fandom activity requires that kind of trust. Like a lot of ppl here don’t play the games, a lot of people don’t read the books, etc, so when they go to watch smth they have to trust the narrator to get *anythinh* out of the experience

hey Rye, immunocompromised viewer here - appreciate you speaking to covid not being over in this vid even though it wasn't directly related to the topic. I think the narrative that covid is "over" is really harmful - not just in an obvious way to folks like me, but everyone, like the younger folks you speak to in the segment you bring up covid. I also appreciate you speaking to the socioeconomic reasons we largely act like like covid's "over" even though it's not - namely, capitalism. been watching your vids for awhile now and always got the sense our politics probably overlapped quite a bit, and it's nice to see you confirm that so openly. keep up the good work, friend!

I like what you had to say on William still being around and how the Mimic plays into that. The more time I've had to ponder it, I'm starting to think that they're more connected than I thought previously. Let's roll with Crispy Willie being kept alive in the burnt wreckage of the FNAF6 location, tortured in UCN by the vengeful spirit. When Help Wanted is being made (the actual in-universe game), it's stated that some old circuit boards are brought in to scan and pull data from to help program the robots in the game. But that's when Glitchtrap starts showing up. Since we know that spirits can be split up into multiple chunks, for lack of a better term, I'm postulating that some of Crispy Willie's spirit is out in a digital form, piggybacking on the Mimic1 program. The other part is what wound up being made into Burntrap. It would explain why Burntrap was rather brainless and pathetic. It would also explain why the Mimic1 program feels like a William Afton copycat killer and not quite the real thing. If one watches the Burntrap cutscenes, it's clear that the fried rabbit wants to escape, wants to get out. The Tangle, seemingly, doesn't want that to happen. But say that when Burntrap was taken up into the Tangle, Afton's presence was able to overpower and take control. This leads to the Tangle tunneling its way to the surface. But what about the Mimic? We're never told exactly what robots the scanned parts came from. It's entirely possible that (given that we know that Mimic endos were once in wide use and the Mimic1 program was used to help train/teach the robots what to do, it's possible that we got either THE OG Mimic board or a Mimic board. Doesn't really matter either way) by using the Mimic1 program to help make the game, the essence of Smokie Afton could have latched on to that since it would give a large measure of control over the robots and possibly more. Once peepaw is integrated into the Pizzaplex systems, he can help nudge the Mimic into getting itself set free so that it can also be absorbed into the Tangle and we get our trash rabbit Afton Amalgamation.

If the Stitchwraith is in the games, it does not NECESSARILY follow that the other stuff in Fazbear Frights is in the games. You may be able to argue that, but it there is no direct logical implication to stand on. You must rejustify other non-Stichwraith Fazbear Frights components for this statement to be compelling. @@vincentadamsvga It depends on which game you're talking about. The INDIE GAMES and Help Wanted are part of the coverup, not all Fazbear-made games. I think the biggest problem with frightsgames/talesgames is that both of those book series do NOT have the storytelling of fnaf’s main continuity. Usually, the story telling of the continuity goes like this: having a *usually* simplistic plot on the surface with some deep rooted secrets hidden underneath that plot for the community to put together. Frights and Tales absolutely do not have that kind of storytelling. Its plot has so much going on and almost nothing is left to the imagination. and like you said, there’s a lot of extra unnecessary steps just to a certain point in the story. But hey if I’m wrong, I’ll be looking forward to seeing the Stan wrong song

The thing about the mimic in the books and the games being the same one, is that in the books the mimic is described as an animatronic spider-ish thing with a foot coming out of its mouth and eyes on its legs. And in the game its just an endoskelton.
@DualityNevermore
@DualityNevermore 4 месяца назад
It's also described as having rabbit ears, which as we see in ruin they have no rabbit ears, not even any parts in their design that implies or shows that they once had them. The Mimic we see in the game just genuinely never had them.
@Gigi4u

Thats why im skeptical about most of the mimic centric theorys that people came up with. We really only have one short game appearance of him so far. To assume the game mimic to be the same as book mimic is unlikely to be true. Elements from the book might carry over but it will probably not be exactly the same. Untill a new game comes out that shows more of game mimic i will still be taking most mimic theories with a grain of salt.
@DualityNevermore
@DualityNevermore 4 месяца назад
@@Gigi4u Agreed, even with all the appearances we have so far it doesn't really add up to say that they are the same mimic from the books, or even burntrap or glitchtrap (somewhat on glitchtrap), things really just don't seem to add up and until we get answers from new games, or from the developers themselves, we can't really say anything for certain.

I still prefer the idea of Fazber frigths (sprry my english), been in universe series of book been comision by Fazber, just like we have a haunted pizzeria in FNAF 3 been run by a small buisnes, so they profit from the urban legends, the wirtters of said books only could have legends and storys, explaing some of the most weird short storys, some are closer than others do to that, wich go with what Scott said, some storys are revelant, some other. This may be the firts step into cleaning the name of Fazber, just like the wanted to do in help wantted, doing "fun" of the past. Pizzaplex can also follow that idea, covering real events with "fake storys" that Kids read, and with changes "we dont have that in the plex! But in this silly books there is one, so dont worry, may be just the Kids been Kids " and thats why the pizzaplex books are more closer to reality than the frigtz.
@nikkafrog
@nikkafrog 4 месяца назад
I agree 100%. I have always thought the titles have shown that. Fazbear "frights" and "tales" from the pizzaplex. So not only are there games but books that were made by Fazbear llc to muddy the true story. I wonder if the movie will also end up as a in universe movie in the games as well. That is why so many things line up, but have weird stories, like fazgoo, that is so ridiculous that it can't be true. So trying to disect what is "real" in the books and what is made up by fazbear.
@Hetzfs
@Hetzfs 4 месяца назад
To expand a bit more on frigts. The stichray character may be Enard, running around, and we have hints of the gang speaking among themself from time to time, any bystander may recount the event as if two personalitys where speaking. Even the random tomato stain on Stich may not be blood (nor tomato), but hot remmenat sticking out, just like multen fredy model, but aja, a bystandr will not have any idea what the fuck is that Elenord? Maybe scrap baby after been ejected doing weird stuff with remmenat (there is a big jump time after all). And ofcurse the writters have no idea like us who this characters are, or when they did what, if they are only going by the storys of the people that where there 30 or so years ago, the event will totally be weird, wrong, maybe close in some regards, and with a diferent interpretation of the "timeline".

Congrats Mr Toast Man, despite trying to not come off as facetious, you sounded INCREDIBLY facetious!! ok in all seriousness i'd like to give my 2 cents on what I believe is the cause of why the fnaf fandom is so trusting, Strap in this is gonna be a long one!! Personally, I believe that this problem stems from the theory culture of the fanbase itself and how bloated the lore has gotten, nobody new coming into the franchise has the mental will or patience to play through EVERY game, read EVERY book and analyse every single teaser or minigame or source code thing that we as a community have spent nearly a decade thumping our heads against. It's just not possible. SO, what do these people do? They turn to community members, notable figures in the fandom that have been around since the beginning, cuaz they think they know all the answers or at least have the best idea because "well this person has been in the fanbase since 2015, SURELY that means they are a trusted source?!" When we have been proven time and time again that its just not. I think the person who responded to your tweets about the talbert situation was trying to express this point. The idea that you can't trust any notable community members with anything, cuz ANYONE could be trying to push an agenda or spread misinformation, in a community that already doesn't have much concrete footing to make ideas off of. Yes, internet safety is important and people should be more aware of trusting people they don't know. but that wasn't the issue. If you actually take a look you can see that a lot of the people upset over the talbert files being debunked, were many older fnaf fans, people who had been around since fnaf 2 & 3, many of them just frustrated and annoyed that they were no closer to solving this decade old mystery. So while I get your point about younger fnaf fans not knowing any better, I feel that is actually missing a large point as to why that whole debacle was as fiery and hurtful to many fnaf fans as it was.
@the_fallen_redditor6693
@the_fallen_redditor6693 4 месяца назад
I think in the end, a lot of older fnaf fans (myself included) just want the series to be done with and move on to a new story line, tie a nice bow on things and leave it at that. its also why so many people were frustrated at afton coming back after fnaf 6. It feels like the series is dragging its feet on an arc that should have concluded three seasons ago. But hey, thats just my opinion. A GAME OPINION!! Thanks for reading!

Talking about the internet safety, I totally agree. I think another part of it too is (I’m 30) is the internet is a relatively reliable place for society. Banking is online, shopping is online, job interviews are online. Versus when I was growing up our parents believed anything online was a scam lol this isn’t to say scamming technology isn’t way better now but most of society was just so naive and way less resources. But kids growing up just see everyone use the internet as a resource without question most of the time. That on top of the fact technology makes everyone accessible all the time now leaves a lot of kids vulnerable.

while i do understand the whole internet safety thing about not knowing who you are talking to, the issue is, thats not very different from IRL. you dont know someone just because you've met them face to face. sure there is more space for anonimity online, but theres more than plenty of space for anonimity irl too (and thats not even mentioning that in most cases, the person that harms you is someone close to you) i think its overall more important to know about what you shouldnt say, or alteast the potential consequences of revealing certain things or trusting people on certain topics, more than just "dont trust people" as thats both very vague and easy to ignore. knowing that people dont always have good intrests when engaging with you and what the most common bad intrests are is much more concrete and helpful imo
@Sopsy_Hallow
@Sopsy_Hallow 4 месяца назад
and actually to double down a little bit, while your PSA was likely well intentioned, the context of it is pretty atrocious. people were shocked that you can't trust some video game nerd about his game facts. this isnt a "someone got hurt by trusting an internet friend and giving info they shouldve kept hidden" this is a "community figures were lying for literally no good reason about something entirely arbitrairy" even the most paranoid of cybersec engineers isnt going to assume some nerd is lying about trivial facts of their little fandom, because even if they are it doesnt matter and it's like the least important place to apply such scrutiny. this isnt comparable to trusting people with private information, and not impactful enough to be meaningful misinformation. this doesnt harm anyone (except for the people who get harrased, but thats very indirect and a fandom problem, not a misinfo problem)

The 10th anniversary Scott interview revealing that Burntrap was supposed to be a hallucination and not a bossfight could actually imply that he intended for the Frights books to connect to the games, but the miscommunication with Steel Wool threw a wrench in those plans. I’m glad you are speaking out about stitchline… the implications of Andrew, jake, William exploding in the end, Eleanor in general and so many other things being in the games are so convoluted. Specially the argument for jake being the canon somehow…. It would just be erasing a character we already know exists, it being the vengeful spirit. He’s clearly a stand in for the games vengeful spirit. Just like silver eyes aren’t canon but explain and expand on the series ideas, I see the same for frights. I can’t say that tales is the same, at least not yet, the mimic makes everything confusing lol I’m sure Scott doesn’t wanna speak out neither against nor for the frights canon answers because the fandom is so divided, and he would get backlash either way… it’s best for him and steel wool to just show in games rather than Scott coming out and saying it… the fandom is not mature enough for those things unfortunately

I believe people think Scott will confirm when someone 'solves' FNAF, because... he kinda has a history of sort of doing that. First, I believe it was Fnaf 2, when MatPat made a theory video, and Scott pretty much came out and said "Hey, ya got it like, mostly right". So Scott confirming a theory like that has happened before. Second, Scott has a tendency to try to soft-confirn theories and nudge theorists in the right direction, though usually through the content of the next game he'd post. Like the bite of '87/'83 debate being answered with a keypad in sister location.

Even if you meet someone face to face, they can still be feeding you a curated persona. And people you know can still harm you, ask anyone who has had terrible family or friends. It's just easier for weirdos to be duplicitous online, but people live double lives face-to-face every day. Theory: what if the books (or at least some of them) were written in universe by fazbear entertainment? Hear me out a sec and bare with a very long rambling paragraph. Think about the names at least: "Fazbear frights" and "TALES" from the Pizzaplex. keep in mind, fazbear frights is the name of the in universe horror attraction based on the rumours about the restaurant. And the word "tale" is another word for "stories" which obviously, they are. HOWEVER stories can be real, based on real events or just Purley fabricated. An example could be the stitchwraith funnily enough. What if the stitchwraith is someone seeing ennard out in the open, but misremembering details and telling a bunch of people about it, which THEN leads to FE making the character 'the stitchwraith'? Like, here's the description (although it may not be 100% accurate due to it coming from a wiki so take this with a grain of salt): "The Stitchwraith is a mysterious figure wearing a hooded coat, it wears a white mask with features drawn on in a thick, black marker (similar to The Marionette or Ennard) Most notably two eyes, one of which appears blackened, and a toothy grin missing a tooth, with something appearing to be stuck between its front teeth. It also appears to have blood around its mouth". How would this line up to Ennard tho? Ennard is a mysterious figure (albeit not wearing a hooded coat unless it stole one), it wears a white mask with features that could be mistaken for drawn on ones, most noticeably two eyes, one of which is half covered by wires (which could be seen as blacked out), a toothy grin, and that 'blood' around its mouth? Possibly molten remnant (as seen on molten Freddy remnant (if that is what it is) is that of a glowing orange to red colour). And the battery on the stitchwraith is in a similar (if not the same place) as Ennard's button on his chest. So that may solve the stitchwraith's appearance. But what about other things? Like the blatant mention of William Afton? Well we know that (if the books ARE indeed written in universe) that springtrap is technically OWNED by the people who own Fazbear's frights. It's their character. And if they have access to files on employees, previous owners, events etc. (which they most likely do considering they have the training tapes for springlock suits), then obviously they would know about William Afton and his horrible actions. Giving them a good antagonist to use for their book series. And if he always comes back, then ending him in the books is a great way to stop people making more rumours and ruining their name more so. And it ALSO may explain the similarities between the description of mimic in the books and burntrap. If fazbear Ent. own the mimic now, and have a rabbit character, they could mash them together to make a NEW one: the mimic. And if someone tries to point out that something is wrong that happened similarly in the books, FE can dismiss them as someone trying to claim the books are real and can basically call them delusional. Is it a 100% perfect solidified theory? No. Does it explain things however? It actually does to an extent. That could also explain book references in the games. 4:04 At the very least, they exist _as IPs that Fazbear has ownership of._ I think that's an important distinction to make, as Fazbear can make merch and use the likeness of characters that do not physically exist - for instance, if they were original characters made for books. 36:20 Just a neat thing, but another way characters can be foils is if they embody the same traits, but taken in different directions - for instance, one character has lots of willpower that drives them to endure hardships to protect others, while their foil has lots of willpower that drives them to endure hardships and trials in order to improve their own position, at the cost of others.

I think the community is so willing to believe what they see on the internet mostly because not every single fan has actually read every book, played all the games, some probably havent watched the movie, so everyone is going to trust the people who's basically made a career off of being the ones to give us that information, I dont think thats how it should be but I have also done this as I do not have any of the books, but the way that I have tried to fact check myself is watch a lot of other videos of people talking about them and only believing the information that every single video has sourced, people do need to learn how to actually fact check things on the internet though

I never got the logic of the Michael is Glamrock Freddy theory. Michael was a flesh being that shouldn't have any need to continue on after Henry's speech, so how would he be put into Freddy? It's not like Springtrap or Baby where the body dies in the animatronic or parts of an old suit is put into another; the Glamrocks are made way after the fact and are shown to be learning AI programs.

In the case where Michael possess Glamrock Freddy, if it is actually the case, maybe he's not in full control and just backsitting during the whole time. Maybe he's not even able to do anything or he can slightly influence it. What I'm trying to say is the AI, Glamrock Freddy, is the driver. The AI is too advanced for a spirit to completely control the animatronic. And Michael is just à witness of the whole thing.

I wanna talk about some thoughts I have about the fnaf 2 movie and the toys and stuff. Rye says they think Aunt Jane will bring back the franchise with the toys. I will say I don't mind this concept, but unless I'm forgetting something, the Freddy's franchise never actually "ended" or "shut down" in the movie after the building collapsed. So, who's to say that there weren't more Freddy's restaurants in the movie universe at the time of the first movie's events? I think there were more Freddy's locations that already existed. After all, it seems like it had been a longstanding and beloved franchise in the movie universe. So, I think the toys probably already existed at a different Freddy's somewhere else. This would also make sense if we think about the credits. If what we hear at the end of the credits is what we think it is (the puppet beckoning Mike by spelling out, "come find me"), I think it would be reasonable to assume the puppet is beckoning Mike to this location where the toys are. Also, it would make sense if a location existed with the toys for a very long time before the location we see in the first movie, because that lines up with fnaf 2 being a prequel to fnaf 1 without forcing the second movie to be a prequel. As for Aunt Jane, I think she's dead as fuck. Golden Freddy squad wiped her and emoted on her body, and that's it. I don't think anyone wants her to come back anyway. She was a dick and no one liked her. That was the whole point of her character. A one-time antagonist that's really easy to hate, but exceptionally hard to like because she was intentionally underdeveloped as a character (assuming she was to be used for the sole reason of being the first movie's antagonist). Just something to think about. And I know it sounds like I'm just shitting on Rye's theory and that I think they're stupid for coming up with it, but let me make it very clear that isn't the case. I just have a different view on it that makes a lot more sense to me personally. Maybe I missed some details, especially since it's been a pretty long time since I've seen the movie. I just wanted to leave my thoughts.

I think at some point the stitchwraith stuff was at least intended to be somewhat canon, or the basis for something, simply because the afton amalgamation in the books matches very closely with the design of Afton in the princess quest games, behind the door. and while it could just be a reference, it's a pretty specific one, and then a concept they kind of revisit in security breach with the blob/tangle also being an amalgamation of burnt and damaged electronics and parts I do not think they ended up being canon, and they ended on the cutting room floor, like a lot of things. and considering into the pit game is coming that draws from fazbear frights things, and the two expansion books for it, maybe we'll see if theres things coming into the 'main' canon... even if they're probably going to be a vauge nightmare to dredge through I will also say I do not personally believe the Mimmic in ruin is the same one as the one in the books. I think its the same concept, but I think its doing the annoyingly murky things the books will do were they tell the same concept but in a different way. 'canon, but a different canon'. the mimmic in the books came to the pizza plex from somewhere else, and was in the pizzaplex itself, causing problems there. the mimmic in ruin was trapped in the 2nd secret buried pizzaria, walled in and trying to get out

IMO fnaf has never been about having a solution like the fnaf community tends to fixate on. I believe fnaf has always been about being solvable with your own preferences and biases. I believe you're meant to be able to have the fnaf story that you like the narrative of the most. I think that's what scott has been trying to say with things like the choose your own adventure thing being cannon. You have the 1/25 ways that you like and you can believe yourself to be right. I believe that's why scott just said "yes" in response to being asked if the books are parallels or directly in game universe.

On the topic of "people just believing things online," I have something else I wat to add: passive consumption of content. This is going to be a bit of an essay, but bear with me. A lot of social media are developing to encourage people to enjoy content passively. It's the shift in youtube from people using the subscriptions page to using the homepage, and it's tiktok and yt shorts giving you one video after the next with no active decision in what to watch next. Algorithms are getting better at giving people things to watch, without engaging in selecting the content, and without engaging in the content itself. Now, consider theorycrafting. It's involved, it takes a lot of thought, and every theory video that you watch, especially in a community like fnaf, should be engaged with actively and critically. But with a growing tendency to engage passively with content, there's a vanishingly small fraction of the community that actually does that with more than half of the videos they watch. It's so much easier to just believe what's being said. This gets compounded by the fact that many people engage with fnaf theories more than fnaf itself. I have never played a fnaf game. Many people watching this video will have played some or all of the games, but never read the books. So when someone appears knowledgeable about the series, it's easy to believe they are because so few people have engaged with as much of fnaf as the big names in the theory scene have. And when you can believe the content creator knows more than you, you're less critical because the source for the information could just be something you haven't heard about. You watch their content passively. On the internet, and in life, it pays to engage with things actively and critically. I may just be a random commentor, and you don't have to take my advice, but your time spent on social media will be more enjoyable (and your time off it more productive) if you actively choose what to give your attention to, and engage with it actively and critically.

Unironically most people who have been arguing about the debate on the side of stitchline have genuinely been rude and ignorant towards others, all because they choose not to believe in stitchline and wish to form their own interpretations. They always push people on theories and say they're wrong because "they haven't read the books" or "you refuse to believe in it because you don't like it" when in reality a lot of stitchline believers are doing those exact things. The people on stitchline like to argue that people who don't believe stitchline are aggressive and reckless, when it genuinely couldn't be further from the truth. Not to say those who don't believe it aren't, some are. However when you look at the picture often it will be people who choose to believe in stitchline rushing in and laying into people about why they're wrong, their theories are wrong, and why stitchline MUST be canon when we don't even have confirmation of it. This community needs to do better genuinely. EDIT: I think something this community needs to know about is the theory of Occam's Razor. Sometimes the simplest solution IS the correct one. I don't think a lot of people are happy that william might be back, but I'd say it's much more likely that william somehow survived the fire, rather than this overly complex side mission on why william must be gone. Also about the mimic's appearance difference between the game and books, I don't think a graphic novel change will explain it more. The graphic novel designs have always been weird or inconsistent compared to the actual design described in the books, especially considering characters like Plushtrap Chaser.

We already know fredbear's is connected with it in the breaker room map. And the characters for the toys are older than the animatronics, game-wise, they're actual toys in fnaf4 and on the show cc watches? If we get a sequel with Cassie and she ends up in the testing room, that would be insane.

It really is scary just how little critical thinking people on the Internet use. People are learning what to think through the Internet and others, but not HOW to think. Looking at different points of view, gathering information and only using relevant facts...and as you say yourself, taking ideas with a grain of salt. It doesn't take rocket science to get in on the argument. It just takes a little thoughtfulness.

Yes I’m British, no, I’m not an Afton) and the amount of stuff I have to correct that I hear people say that is just blatantly untrue is absurd. For instance, after the Epste*n files were released (censored for RU-vid’s sake), people were genuinely believing all the rumours about Stephen Hawking, a man who has never been accused of anything illegal by anyone to my knowledge, and the only reason he was in the files was Epste*n asking to clear the rumours. Somehow, that morphed into him liking watching young girls solving maths problems while not wearing anything on a blackboard. About 2/3 of my year genuinely believed this- you’ll never guess where they got it from!
