UPDATE: driving for Uber using the rental program has definitely helped me when I need extra cash and catch up on bills!! When I don’t need the car, I just turn it in and get a new one when I want to drive again. I still prefer to drive in the mornings and on weekends. If you’re looking for a flexible side hustle and/or in need of a car “quick fix” I still recommend!! Use this link to get a bonus when signing up. I just invited you to earn with Uber. Earn at least $1,750 for your first 180 passenger trips in 30 days. drivers.uber.com/i/t9ssese87sf4
Your post says $945 on the post of this video for an entire week!🫣, that’s far too low for a whole week! I made $2.3k to $2.8k👈🏾 12 hours a day, a week it’s like less than half, biggest joke from the jump, Uber have “bonuses”, “consecutive pay” when completed them you’ll see those numbers 👆🏾
I got approved for Uber but couldn't drive right away. I started recently but now I don't qualify for the 'new driver' bonus and they offer no flexibility. Anyone else have this challenge?
I was thinking about driving for Uber or Lyft and came here for some basic information. I usually don't comment on videos, but I wanted you to know how much I appreciated the straightforward way you shot this- the succinct information, the video and audio quality and most importantly your vibe. You don't take on the typical "RU-vidr" persona. You're authentic and that's refreshing! One of the better informational videos I've seen in a long time!
Thank you so much Michael! I really appreciate it. What’s crazy is before I shot this I was like how would I want to receive this information: straight to the point and real. I’m glad I was able to help! Best of luck to you and you decide to do it!
This option is good only if you are a full time Uber driver like me, I drive 10 hours a day 5 days a week and I make anywhere between $300-$350 daily in New Jersey, but if you are a part time driver then renting a car for Uber is not worth it.
@@Rob-xo1yk Depends on the market, here in NJ there's lots of surge especially around Jersey City/Hoboken area, I am now driving 4 days a week for 10 hours each day Because I'm getting older and don't have the same energy, Im still getting my 40 hours a week though.
I rent a kia Niro 2023 for 280$ a week and it gets 500 miles!!! On one gas tank!! So i pay like 45$ on gas for 7 days and i make the 280$ in one day, every other day is all pure profit to me, 100% WORTH IT BUTTTT I WORK IN BOSTON SO YEA, Boston is BUSYYYYY i also am the first person to ever drive the car it only had 35 miles on it so besides the cars delivery. I really got a GREAT DEAL
I got started with rideshare 7 years ago with the rental program. I think it's a great option if you want to try rideshare but don't have a vehicle. It can also be fun because you get to drive a lot of different vehicles. However, from a financial perspective it absolutely does not make sense to keep renting if you plan to do it for a longer period of time -- those rental fees add up, in my case I was spending $16000 a year on rental fees. Also, the car insurance that comes with the rental is pretty bad (with a $1500-$2500 deductible). For many drivers, they are just one accident away from financial ruin.
@@robertmorgan2219 I started renting with Uber partnershiped with Hertz, the deductible is $1000 and I made full coverage with the contract between Hertz and me which costs about 70 per week.
So true! Someone hit me while I was renting with Lyft and I may have to pay the $1000 deductible even tho the damage is not worth half that. Then I have to wait until the other woman's insurance reimburse me.
One of the benefits I do see is that the entire cost of the rental would be deductible on your taxes. So factoring in the no cost for maintenance and this deduction it might not be as financially detrimental.
@@kyrahill2420 Its simply a business expense. The same as when you claim a mileage deduction for your ridesharing miles at the end of the year. If you do you taxes through software like Quicken it will be able to guide you.
Making money from Uber is an excellent opportunity to diversify your income streams and build wealth. It's all about seizing the right opportunities and leveraging them effectively. I wasnt financial free until my 40’s and I’m still in my 40’s, bought my third car already, earn on a monthly basis and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! Investing is a grand choice I made.
I strongly recommend Regina Louise Collaro, a reputable US-based financial advisor and consultant. Through her collaboration with an international organization, she has provided invaluable guidance and support on my financial journey until I reach my goals. Choosing the right financial consultant is vital, akin to finding the ideal life partner, as both profoundly influence your life's direction. I am thankful to have found such an excellent financial consultant who has aided me in accomplishing my financial goals, spanning from education to nearing retirement...
I've wanted to start investing for a while. Yet, I've always considered it to be late, and I believe I should quit putting things off. I'll absolutely contact Regina Louise Collaro to ask her for advice. Much thanks. This was quite helpful to me.❤
This is a shocker to see Regina Louise Collaro mentioned here. I always had mixed feelings about hiring an investment advisor. For the record, I started working with Regina in 2019, and she manages about 70% of my investments while I manage the other 30%. My philosophy is that I care more about my own money than anyone else, but she made me accept that she has a wealth of information on current conditions and future trends.❤
My friend’s daughter is renting a Uber car and paying over $300 a week 😮. She works for Amazon and Uber eats. She was tired of taking the bus and needed a car with no questions asked.
I am a driver here in Baltimore and your video was informative and straight to the point! Everyone's situation is different, so you must do what is best for your situation.
I hope that you do something using your great communication talent and engaging personality! GREAT JOB wit this video! Thanks so much! I had a list of questions and you answered every one in a clear and engaging way! KUDOS!!!
It's better than adding alot of miles on your car dealing with private car insurance plus monthly lease or note car inspections depends on which city and state you're are in and most of all maintenance lol
It’s a bit expensive over 1900 a month with rental and gas costs you will need to drive 8-10-12 hours a day in order to at least make $700-800 to pay for your life with.. it’s a bit of a uneasy feeling knowing your one accident away to financial demise. The deductible with that will doom you! Another thing you have to give a minimum of 30 Uber rides a week to keep it through Uber. Also if you get sick and cannot drive you will have to give up the car😢 which is another huge concern so it is a hustle that you can get into bit for the long term if this is your sole source of income can be heavy on the brain.
If you want an easy no worries car to drive, this is a great way to do it. Obviously it's a big weekly expense against your earnings. I'm mechanically inclined, so I've gone the route of buying older upscale brand cars and driving them for 6-12 months. I can always find a clean and presentable BMW/Mercedes/Audi e.t.c for $4k-$5k. Of course you need the money up front, but for me it's much cheaper longterm.
Don't forget the depreciation of the vehicle you own if you drive your own car. Sometimes you can write them off on your taxes. If you did uber full time those miles add up very quickly. Its something to think about and its why im thinking about renting instead.
You can find a car from someone on Toro or Hyre car for way less. I had someone renting Prius for $25 a day with insurance. You just need to dig it in and do a side deal not rent through their platforms.
Luckily I only need to rent for a month or two to save up a few grand to buy a beater to drive so that I can save up for a down payment on a Tesla. I’m a part time driver so I don’t need much per month.
I'm in the same situation. I don't have a car and need one but don't have a down payment yet. I am just now realizing I can rent through Uber and earn money with them. How has it gone with you?
@@angelstar7656 I ended up giving the Tesla rental back after 2 1/2 months and getting back into my own car again. The cost was burning a hole in my pockets and I didn’t realize I didn’t have the higher Uber premiere in my market. Charging took a big chunk out of my already limited time and hertz was still charging me weeks after I returned the car! I lost more money than I made so it was a total wash for me unfortunately. I’ll never do it again. I rather just keep the money I make with my own car so that I can hurry up and pivot out of ride share.
Thanks for this vid. I have 2 cars, a Camaro and a family van.. But I'm thinking about renting one so I can do my rides during the day and not have to wait till the wife comes home. Theres more money to be made in the evenings of course but for me its a thing of work life balance. The cars in Atlanta were renting for about the same... I've done uber before in my personal vehicle so I know I can make the money. I might jump into it this week
@@nayecoledid you get different car? How is that work. You don’t get to keep the car u til the end of the month or you can just change for a difefent car ??
I've been driving my own car for Uber for years but I want to give the rental a try and you perfectly explained everything I needed to know, thank you. By the way you have a beautiful teeth with a beautiful smile, lol I couldn't help myself from looking at your lips the whole time.
It seems Uber is definitely better than Lyft when renting according to Nayecole. I rented Lyft and there’s a 20 ride minimum plus before you receive any of your earnings Lyft deducts until the weekly rental fee is accumulated. I can’t begin to explain how mentally and psychologically difficult that is to feel as though you’re working for free basically until you reach the ride quota and rental fee while you’re burning and having to buy fuel. So the Uber rental definitely seems to be best. I caution any of you to stay clear of the Lyft express drive rental program.
Well with either, u want to drive more than enough to pay back the rental anyway. 2-3 days can pay it off, leaving the rest of the week for pure revenue (minus gas).
I will pick up my rental this Friday. My car is paid for and I have roughy 1500.00 of monthly bills once I have snowball debt I can pay off. My bill are about $300-$400 a month. I am also a van lifer so I pay $0 on rent. I am about to go all in. I will provide updates. Also thank you so much for your break down. Keep grinding and shinning 💯 😎 💰
@@SlyRy5 yes, but remember I started in the summer. Fall has been very slow 700-1000.00 a week. I live near a major city and airport. The airport rides are constant and that is where I see the most profit.
Hi I just retired and I just stated driving here in palm desert California. My car burns a lot of fuel do I won’t be doing this long. But it is a lot of fun. I didn’t think I would like it but it’s not bad. But I think I’ll put more emphasis on my business. But it was great seeing your video. Keep up the good work.
It is a very expensive option but for those who qualify and are eligible right away and who need a car today today lol and can’t get approved for a new or used car bc of low credit or no down payment available for a car yet this is a perfect option until you get to the point where your credit repairs and you can buy or finance a vehicle of your own. In my case I wanna work now in my craft career but it requires a car bc city or suburban transit is not available for the hours I need to start and stop working so I’m readying myself for my documents to clear so I can get back to work til we are able to find a suitable vehicle to own or finance
You have great style to the point I enjoyed watching. I think also with the car note weekly over your head you’ll be out working since you know in a week another note is due. Wishing you all the best! (I also just subscribed for future content)
Damn I’m sorry. Renting weekly is ridiculously predatory. Avoid at all costs please. $356 a week comes to $18,500 a year. A quick search found a 2020 Kona AWD with 20K miles for $18,000. Let’s call it $20K for fees and interest. Insurance maybe $1.5K/year. After 2 years, you would have paid $37,000 to rent. Versus $20,000 to buy used + $3K for two yeas of insurance. And if you sell that Kona after 2 years, you can get $14,000 (2018 Kona with 100K miles). If you want to sell quick, you could take $10,000 for it. TL;DR. Rent for 2 years $37K. Buy used with insurance $23K with $10-14K in residual value. That’s over $24K difference you’re paying to Avis over 2 years!
I bought my 2015 Honda Civic with 40k miles for 7k in 2020. The insurance is about $80 a month. Now it has 145k miles on it, this year i've averaged around 60,000 miles, which is close to a 40k tax deduction with the per mile write off which goes into the negative against the car, so you can't do that with a rental. Just write off what you paid for the rental. I also can use my car for Uber and Lyft both. So I don't think a rental can compete, unless you decide to do one for like a week or two and plan on driving 12-14 hours a day everyday and don't want to kill your car.
Yeah no one is looking to rent to drive for Uber for 2yrs. That’s the point. This is really for people who have the energy and time. That’s it. This is a get in get out situation. I done see so many stories in person on how this can help and change a person’s financial situation. So yeah on paper it sounds “right” but once again everyone situation is different
Thank you for this video. I have been doing uber for about 9 years on personal vehicle. My car broke down yesterday and looking at serious repairs leaving me wondering if I can cover it meanwhile frantically worrying about upcoming bills. This is very reassuring and definitely puts a lot of my worries at ease. Not only do I uber uber to pay bills but I am attending ASU with the help of Uber's benefits. Do you know if you can do Lyft with a rental car from Avis even though its signed up with through Uber app? I have an appointment to pick up my car now on Monday.
2-3 days to pay off the car for 4 hours a day. I started in North Hollywood and it would take me all over: Santa Clarita, Burbank, but West Hollywood and Santa Monica are hot spots!
7 years driving my car for Uber. I'm in 1st week of using Tesla3 rental as an experiment. I'm driving the same number of hours as my ICE (25 hrs). $382/week including taxes and fees in Silicon Valley. So far I have had to charge each day at $20 (5 days). So far that's $482 in expenses and 2.5 hours of charging at Superchargers for $575 revenue. For Sat/Sun I expect to grab another $500 revenue and another $100 charging fees along with 2 more hrs of charging. So, $1075 revenue with $682 in expenses leaves me with just under $400 net while wasting 4.5 hours idle time while charging. To make approx $1600/month net while paying about the same $1600/month for rental doesn't make sense unless i drive closer to 40 hrs vs 25/wk...which I won't do. I do get many Green rides but no XL with rental so I actually think I'm losing out on those sweet long XL and the $$$. Without completing one full week, my opinion is dont rent unless you drive minimum of 40 hrs/wk. If I were to rent this for one year, I would have paid fees half the price of brand new Tesla3.
I live in Fresno CA. I’ve been driving for Uber 3 months. I have an electric vehicle through them that costs 350 weekly. I charge for free here in Fresno. I refuse to drive full time. That defeats the purpose of quitting FT, and without benefits I’m not giving anyone that much time. I may as well go back to work. What makes it worth it? Access to a car. I don’t own one, and having one is better than not. However I drive about 10 rides a day. That’s part time. Most of my driving is to pay for the car. 😢 Now in San Francisco (I live 2.5 hours away) I can make the fee giving 20-26 rides in a day (10-12 hrs). In Fresno it takes 2-3 days. Driving 2 days in SF can earn the fee and earn me 350-400. That’s better than the 150-200 in Fresno. I lose free charging access though and have to drive far.
I very much appreciate this. I’m located in fresno as well, and I always wondered if it would be worth renting one here. Thanks for your input , I wish you well success !
I was told you don’t have to pay the insurance from Uber , you can pay the insurance from the same rental company which it is a lot less money than Uber insurance charge. …
Uber Eats I found to be a blessing... Uber eats, you get more tips. and being 43 I sometimes don't wanna have to deal wit people while making money and eats allows me that option. But this is definitely an informative video!
I've tried Eats a bit, and it seems you make less money per hour than regular Uber driving. Like $5 for 30 mins. of your time, which is the equivalent of $10/hr. Uber driving seems to be more like $17-22/hr.
I know this video is a couple months, old Uber, and Lyft, are the scam, so the rental car program Has to be also a scam can you make money? Yes you’ll make money but if you calculate how much you’re making it’s not worth it has proven in almost every RU-vid that’s been produced by people like this woman😢😢
Yea, this price is pretty much exactly what I paid for the past month. Just moved back to the country and didn’t have a car yet. I had to go with an electric because that’s all they had. EVs are terrible for Uber… I ended up spending 7-10 hours a week charging the vehicle and it’s not even that cheap! During regular business hours it was like 30 to “fill it up.” I was spending over 500 a week for charging/car rental. I really cannot understand how people driving 40-50 hours claim this “makes perfect sense….” HOW??? The car costs you like 2 grand a month?! Cool, you made 350 a day… how much did you keep? I guess if you have literally no other options then fine…. Maybe it’s better than buying a car and running it into the ground. But the truth is you’re essentially an indentured servant.
Whats stopping people from using this option to get a rental for cheap (for the week)? Like do you have to complete a set number of rides? Since its a rental, can you use it for personal other than working?
In Fresno it requires 30 rides minimum weekly. I have to give about 35 rides to make the 350 fee. I drive part time so it takes about 2.5 days. After that I need real motivation to drive for myself. But in my city I can charge the electric vehicle for free.
I used to paid 4 My Acura MdX 2019 like 800 + 265 insurance, after 5 months I return the car,now I rent a car from hertz 2023 car for $270 a week . So isn’t bad if you work full time . I think is good deal if you do full time .
May be nice getting a choice… I’ve been through 8 cars in 7 months lol but no deposit no background check bc it’s through Uber platform… but it’s a rip off if you have bills… good luck paying them after $331 / wk! Yuuup 1,350/m and cars are garbage
It seems like not all Avis and Hertz rental locations participate with UBER. I recently discovered this while having my car in the body shop, after I was hit by another driver while Ubering. The other driver's insurance paid for the rental due to her being at fault. Enterprise wouldn't let me use the rental to UBER and neither would UBER. This took about 10 phone calls with UBER driver support to figure out. Driver support, for whatever reason, wasn't getting what I was explaining to them; go figure. Finally, after a few days and multiple phone calls to Driver support, the nearest eligible Rental agency, was over 70 miles away and would cost me approximately $450 a week. I already had a free rental through the other driver's insurance, but I couldn't use it to UBER. A real cluster@#%$ UBER needs to expand their rental partnership. I couldn't work for nearly 3 weeks due to my car being in the body shop.
Folks, I'm not going to say renting a car is bad, per se...but I will have to say that Uber is very crappy in Jacksonville, Florida. For a week's time, your average 12 hr shift is likely to net you $200 a day (perhaps more depending on tips). Renting a car will cost about $45 a day. If you add gas on top of that, thats about $70-75 a day. $125 a day for a 12 hour shift translates out to about $10.50 an hour. It's an easy job, but unless some legislation is made that has uber revealing the amount of money they get as opposed to the driver and/or allows drivers to determine the rate they are willing to be paid per drive (based on $ per mile), Then Uber will continue getting more money and you will get less. Do not settle for these crap wages. Protest.
I live and drive in Jacksonville and make like 150 in 5.5 hours 6 days a week. I do early mornings like 5/6 and stop like 12. I was working for amazon 10 hour shifts making 700 a week. Imagine if I did 10 hours like amazon I’ll be banking . I’m getting a rental so I don’t have to drive my car as much.
A jeep for 333 a month. Must of has good credit, why not purchase yoir own car? Depending on how long you rent the uber car, youd done paid off the car for them
Thank you for the video. This is something I have never done doing Uber and someone just reminded me about this today, and I had a lot of questions, but you answered a majority of them. 😊
Try Turo and find a private person that specifically rents cars to drivers and negotiate a rate. You can usually find someone with a decent hybrid for around $35 a day (depending on your market). I’m in Indy and the cost of registering a car here is pretty inexpensive. I only drive occasionally, but I drive a really nice car and there is no chance I’m destroying my car.
I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to let you know that the video you made was really impressive! Your talent and creativity truly shine through. By the way, I couldn't help but notice how great you look in the video. I'm genuinely curious, do you have a boyfriend? It would be wonderful to know more about you and your interests. Yes it’s expensive but I like this because my personal car is a Mini Cooper and I’m not putting miles and wear and tear on it I’d rather pay extra and work a little extra to cover it
This video reveals the truth about renting a car through Uber to drive for them. While it may seem like an easy way to make money on a flexible schedule without needing your own car, there are significant downsides they gloss over. You have to pay hundreds of dollars per week for the rental, which eats into your earnings substantially. Gas, which is expensive these days, is also not covered. And you're locked into driving many hours each week just to cover the rental costs before making any profit for yourself. So while it's positioned as an easy side hustle, the reality is you're taking on a major weekly expense and time commitment. Think carefully about the true costs and your schedule before jumping into this "opportunity".
Hey girl! I’m trying to rent a car through Avis and they told me that the extra insurance doesn’t cover me when I’m off the clock. I do live in NY so maybe the rules are different for every state; but did they ever disclose that to you when you rented the car for Uber?
They didn’t tell me that! They told me that’s what it was for. Not sure if policy changes state to state or if they were tryna make an extra $ out of me
@@nayecole thanks for responding hon! ✨ I’m definitely going to call and ask them again to make sure because that’s crazy! If I’m spending $300 a week on a rental I want to be able to use it for my own personal use as well!
Thank you very much for the information on this, I’ve been looking around for a few days to see if it was worth it to rent and this is the best breakdown so far.
Awesome explanation great video as well, my situation is that I'm currently carless and have been Ubering to work pretty much 5 days a week to work and back home I recently got a ride from a driver who was renting and driving a vehicle for Uber,, my question is do you think it would make sense to sign up for this rental program thru Uber and drive it to work during the week I mean I'm already spending 200$ a week on rides anyways but I think I could pay it off by driving on the weekends and after hours of my initial job.. just need some insight on this ? Also the driver that I got the ride from was driving an electric vehicle not a Tesla but I know you mentioned the gas thing would it make sense to get a gas rental or EV ??
Thank you for keeping it simple. I understand it better. Just got my temps. Im bout to rent a car to test in then apply for Uber after my L’s arrive in the mail
They will take the money out of your account. You don't get a free week. There will be a temporary hold during the week you rent the car, which isn't actually taken out of your account, then at the end of the week on the final day of rental (or perhaps the beginning of the next week rental) you will be charged the week's rate. Even if you return the car early, they will charge you for the full week. No freebies with Uber, no siree! That's why you should always have at least 2 weeks rental worth of money in your account, in case you lose track of the rentals, as they sometimes charge your account late. And if you don't have enough money in your account, they will charge you late fees (I have always wondered if they do this on purpose to trick you into thinking you have enough in your account, but then don't and end up getting late fee charges because of it--they've charged me late on multiple occasions and it's really screwed me up in this way).
For Hertz its a lot more expensive than whats in the app. Like for Telsa 3 It says 350 or something but then if you want to get the full insurance(which you should or your out money if you pop a tire or somebody hits and runs you which happened to me like 5 times it pays its self off). Its 500 a week plus electrical cost/gas if you got a gas car and they make you pay 200-300 deposit that is part of the first weeks pay. so you end up paying a lot more for the first week usually. If you can rent a car for under 350 with insurance it makes sense during the winter time during the summer time when its slow just try to buy a car.
If you're renting a car, you're going to have to put in at least 2 1/2 hours just to cover the weekly lease. Also, they require I think 30 Uber rides a week to be able to keep renting the car.
It’s not worth it. I was paying 427 a week and this car eats gas. Thts $40 a day added on. Plus I had extra insurance . I paid 707 a week and with Uber paying around $1 a mile was not worth it.
