Heat pumps in every home? Could this be a reality and is the UK ready?
In today’s episode Imogen and the team went to visit the Swedish Heat Pump Company Aira Homes to discover how Sweden has been successful in its heat pump roll out. Incredibly, 60% of homes have a heat pump, and over 90% of new heating solutions purchased are a heat pump! So we asked, what can the UK learn from Scandinavian countries where the temperature falls as low as -20 degrees in the Winter.
Note: Aira’s monthly payment plan will be available in the UK in the coming months.

One big thing to consider is how much Sweden pays for its electricity compared to us.

You really shouldn't be saying a particular heatpump is designed for a size of property. The heatpump power required depends on the property heatloss, regardless of number of rooms.

Still can’t get my head around why having a heat pump to heat the water to then heat the radiators and in many cases the radiators have to be changed for bigger ones to accommodate the flow in how the heat pump works , surely is far easier to get a heat pump for ATA systems where less expensive installation with no need to change radiators sizes actually no need for radiators at all with the advantages of getting instant heat .

ATA is a good solution for some properties, however, I've found that ATW houses generally feel more comfortable. Also, ATW does hot water as well.

@@MentalLentil-ev9jr I wonder if anyone has done a running cost between the two, I had thought about getting a water tank with a heat pump that sits on top of the tank inside the house and use the excising gas flue hole in the wall for the heat pump needs that on the tank , then get ATA for heating so no need for up rating radiators and as said lots of other things that is not needed with that system, to me at least that makes more sense.

Horrible spam. In short. Try to use it in frosty weather. Noise. Noise. Noise. Noise

Doesn't seem to be an issue in Sweden.

lol. Mine’s whisper quiet, and no reason why others wouldn’t be unless installed poorly.

Not true in my property. Two years experience. Perhaps badly installed 🤔
