If you're Mexican, chances are you've seen the 1993 Chicano Cult Classic, "Blood In, Blood Out". And, if you're like the rest of us, you've seen it more than once. Like, EVERY TIME it's shown anywhere... and it's one of the movies you reach for on Movie Night.
It's got that effect on people.
Well, what would you do if I told you that there is a 5-6 Hour Cut of this movie that actually exists. The director, Taylor Hackford, originally presented Disney with a 4 Hour and 45 Minute version of Blood In, Blood Out, and tried to convince them that he actually had enough material to make 2 films of Blood In, Blood Out.
But, the plan was 86'd, and he barely got the approval to do 1, 2-3 Hour cut.
Ever since then, an urban legend exists revolving around this 5 hour cut, and all the rest of the cut footage, which could be dug up and used to give us, the fans, an extended version or a 2-3 part series.... with all the original movie footage.
Recently, 3 of the actors from the film, Cruzito (Jesse Becerra), Popeye and Magic sat down with Berner415 to discuss the 30 year anniversary of the film, the 5 hour cut and so much more regarding the cult classic.
I cut a couple of sections where they discuss the rumor of the "Holy Grail", what happened around the release of the film and where it could be headed in the future.
Orale! Let's Pray that we get a chance on day soon to see this extended version, so we can get closure on what happened to our favorite, beloved characters from a true Chicano Classic.
