Is there a particular order for reading Jane Austen’s works? 

I have to admit (and this would be just a layperson opinion, not an expert or academic in the arts or literature 😂) that if someone was looking to get into Austen and asked I’d recommend Northanger Abbey first. Again, as a layperson in the field I found the language and themes by far the most accessible and it was what sucked me into reading (and re-reading) and really enjoying Austen’s fiction. My gateway if you will. 🤣 You might also fit Lady Susan in here. After that I’d probably say read *almost* in order (Sense & Sensibility, Pride & Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Persuasion). Notably I’d say read Emma last. I know it seems to be a favourite of Prof Mullins, but even now I find it the hardest one to read. I’ve heard enough other people who also like Jane Austen say the same. But purely personal opinion of what I’d say if asked. And again I’m no expert, just a fan.
