Love needs boundaries to establish trust and security. This man even put boundaries on his own love by not dating an old woman. Truly relationships need more than just love to thrive.
I mean, most women are boring at any age, the only ones that get cultural references are the ones that are about your own age - but if you date someone outside of those what +/- 5 years, it doesn't matter if they are 30 years older or younger.
Stop infantilizing women. If she is 18 or older she can date whoever she wants. Thats why we have laws so no one has to worry about if its “appropriate”.
The trick is that there’s no one age gap. There’s actually an age formula (x/2 + 7). This formula will give you the minimum age you can date without it seeming weird or creepy. For example what if you were 32? 32/2 + 7 = 23 What if you were 22? 22/2 + 7 = 18 The beauty is that it takes into account your own age every time, so the ratio stays the same even as you age older.

My partner is 8 years younger than me, 28 amd 20 respectively, and her and I have such an incredibly beautiful shared path, interests, and values. Meanwhile most people my age were vapid and materialistic, and most people her age she found to be incredibly immature and incapable.
