That is true! It's one thing to "do" an accent: to make the sounds that people make. That's an ear thing; almost intuitive parroting of the sounds you've heard. Still a talent and a skill!! But it's its own particular skill. It's a whole other thing to know the right words and turns of phrase. You could say a very, very British phrase with an American accent, or a very, very American phrase with an Australian accent. Word choice and phrasing can be just as important, and is a whole added layer to the sound-making. This of course is where good script-writing comes in; presumably the screenwriters have taken all of that into account in their word choices- if they're good writers! But when an actor is riffing, improvising, it can be easy to fall back on the words and phrases you're used to, even if you're saying them with someone else's borrowed sounds. I'm a big fan of accents, myself; consider myself something of a parrot. But word choice is a whole extra skillset that requires much more intentional research than just listening to a lot of foreign television, or whatever. You really have to pay attention to the syntax, the melody of a dialect, the rhythms, and those words and slang and such!

1. It makes sense that whipping out an accent or impression on the spot is wayyy harder than if you’re already in character, with the set around you and the costumes on to place you into that particular context 2. This is like a reminder to us that accents/impressions aren’t just about the sound; it’s the sound AND the vocab AND the expressions AND the gesticulation AND the subject matter 3. both of these make it easier to appreciate a good impromptu impression

It's actually pretty common for us Americans to use 'shall' in certain contexts. Like when you meet up with a date or friends and you're meeting up outside of someplace, it's pretty common to say "shall we?" as a kind of nudge to move into the restaurant, club, etc.

Accents are great. It showcases all the nuance in the world. We're all human beings, yet we're all so different. And it's those difference's that when brought together can create some AMAZING things. America first became great because of the mix of different people. So much has sprung from our unity. That's starting to fade now unfortunately but hopefully something better will come from it. Either we'll get back to working together or we start fighting each other. The choice is on each one of us.
