Don't forget the people who kept for years supporting MYM/comp and casual mode thinking it's the "future" of tf2. it been 8 years and tf2 is on it last leg because of it. so no, they were always wrong about it. Yep, despite the server browser interface being antiquated (despite only taking a minute to learn), Meet your Match update was what killed the game for many, many people in the long term.
@@damsen978 The server browser is easy to learn but people got no incentive to join an empty community server waiting for someone to join. Quickplay was good at gathering people in the same server. even if sometime it put you on empty server. if you wait few minutes. it guarantee you will get players. and because now you got players. the server will not die until people go to sleep.
ah yes, Meet your match update the point where Valve got new team who thought trend chasing of comp is the best course for a team based 12v12 chaotic casual shooter. Spoiler , they were wrong and they had the hubris to double down with Jungle inferno. When everyone who left with MYM and returned to give tf2 a chance with JI. realized they will not make the game fun and give us Quick Play back. they left, then tf2 hit its historically lowest player count. Then Valve throw a tantrum because their changes to tf2 was a failure and THEY give up on tf2. what a shocker. they ruin tf2 then acted like spoiled kids and refuse to at least revert it. #Fixtf2 by #AddQuickPlayBack #RevertTF2toPreMYM
I don’t know… But at this point if we can’t save tf2 then we might as well avenge it by making Valve look so bad that nobody will want to buy deadlock.
If Valve won't do anything about this, then the community is the only salvation they got. First off, they got to stop playing Casual and mainly start playing on community servers, any problems you find in community servers can be solved through community effort. Admin abuse? Ads? Plugins like Roll The Dice that disrupt the gameplay? Report these problems to the server owner. Not a good server owner? Stop joining them and look for another one. Can't find a good vanilla server? Be the first to make it and promote the hell out of it, start idling on the server, the more people are in a server, the more will join. Owners should also install the StAC, an anti-cheat plugin that automatically bans bots that join. As for cheaters, that's the treadmill job for admins and moderators. There you have it, the long-term solution.
Yes? The players have come to gethor not in hundreds, not in thousands, but in HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS to protest the state of a game they have been with for over a decade at longest. There is hope as long as there is a will to keep working torwards our goals.
Ok I have an idea please give feedback. So you have to complete a tutorial of all the classes to play online, this is tracked via an achievement or other means (how to verify this is my biggest concern with its viability, possibly bypassing). You don`t have to rocket jump ect to complete the tutorial or at most do really basic stuff. The main idea is the is a pool of tutorial maps it could pick from, each map will have a mirror version and lets say each class has 3 maps. So every class do to is picked from random, every map is pick from random, also the maps can have a hazard that randomly spawns, players can always just walk around it but as it`s position is random the bots could walk straight into it with thier pre-determined paths, while players can simply walk around it. So the bot hosts would have to try to record inputs/code bots to complete the levels for each map and when they do the tutorial they would have to identify what class was picked and what map variant to then pick the correct path to finish the tutorial. Which is a lot of work to do when all value would have to do is slightly alter the tutorials especially as thier are mirrored effectively doubling the map pool. At the very least would significantly reduce the amount of bots for a period as none would be able to complete the tutorial until programmed to.
