How deep do we need to go to find water in Mongolia? We finally get to drill our homestead well (Borehole) in Mongolia which will really make a big difference to our new Mongolian homestead and begin our journey to an off grid living. But can we find water in Mongolia? How deep do we need to go to find water? on our homestead out side of Ulaanbaatar in the beautiful countryside of Mongolia. We get to share with you how Mongolians drill a well (Borehole) in Mongolia and some of the challenges with living off-grid in Mongolia. Finally the Mongolian dream is ours and we find out what it is like to live in Mongolia the land of eternal blue sky.

I too have the same thoughts, I not know were you are in the world and if the country offers home schooling we may home school Flame from a school in the UK and have him go to school here part time as well for the interaction so we would have good control of his schoolwork and he would have his grades in the Uk to fall back on. Just an idea 💡 if you have any questions your welcome to email as well. 😊👍

My wife is from Ulaanbaatar , our family are moving to mongolia soon, our intention is to buy land and build a home. I'm in my last year of a geology degree so I found your video interesting 🤔. As for geothermal heating for your greenhouse, I have been looking into it and of doing that for our future home. If you need some insights or advice let me know.

Yes exactly we will have the floor of the green home under ground and grow in razed beds😊 I was thinking 1 meter under the ground level and 1 more meter beneath that for the earth Battery. What do you think?

@@SimpleWildLiving yes, that sounds about right, only thing is the permafrost depth. Ulaanbaatar,s valley has a permafrost but not sure if your in the main valley . I can check at the bgs library here in the UK. Not sure how to give my email to you?

Thanks, guys, I agree with you Mongolia is a beautiful place, they are mostly down to earth beautiful people however the winter climiate is way too cold and summer way too short, you guys are doing a really cool job and it most fascinated me that you guys determined what wanted.

At the end you mentioned the well possibly freezing. I noticed you didn't get a copper defrosting wire installed into the well? Basically if it freezes you plug in the wire and it will defrost the well in about an hour. I had one installed in my well here in Mongolia. We currently only use it in the summer so I am not too sure how well it would work throughout the winter months. I will be interested in seeing how you plan to insulated the top of the well to keep it from freezing. Looking forward to see your future videos. I have a lot of footage of what I have done on my bit of Mongolia to begin my own channel.

From my understanding- they are going to actually build an extension to the house so that the water well is IN the house.

It was a thought to have it in the house in a crawl space, but we decided not to, we will do it a different way. We will probably just install a pitless Adapter if we install a pressure tank. If not we will just run a heating cable down the pipe and that will prevent the piping from freezing.

Nicely done.In winter days, do the well pump work, does pump have heater in it to prevent it from freezing? Where about are placed around UB-what was the result for water testing, drinkable?

Cool. Just done the same thing in my backyard. Have a question... what was that thing with permafrost? Reason being, I was told by the driller that we have a permafrost. Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi thanks so much, I’m not sure we’re you are in the world but we’re we are the frost line is about 2,5 to 3 meters down, and depending on how your system is set up, any work that remains in the piping will freeze in the winter ❄️ there are many different wait to combat that..

Awesome work! Phew, cheap drilling I guess but still a lot of money for potentially non-potable water! But I guess there's a lot of water needed for everything else but the drinking. I never tend to think of that, since I've always had running water easily accessible.

Сонирхолтой байсан! Great video. I wonder how you pay for well water. Is it free, or do you pay a fixed amount or is there a meter? I also wonder if you have issues of water freezing in the pipes. For sure not at 15 m under the ground but I wonder if you need a heat wire close to the surface during winter.

Great comment, thank you. 🙏🏻 we payed for the installation Of the well a fixed amount based on the depth of the well. Our well is 80 meters deep. The water is free. We are keeping he water in tanks in the house and the pipes should not freeze in the winter but we mite do some insulation in the winter but we will let you know how it goes…

@@SimpleWildLiving if not used constantly it will freeze. Most people who intend to use it for all season do install heat wire to prevent any part of the pipe freezing.

This is a very controversial subject to talk about in Mongolia when it comes to drinking well water. I didn’t have time to test the water to see if there is any impurities as we have a septic tank 5 meters away from the well and 4 ground toilets with in 50 meters. We will test it in the spring.. it could be perfectly fine but it could not also.
