Before moving to Australia, consider that it's VERY VERY expensive to rent here. Flats, units, apartments, even in small towns are MUCH more expensive that most places in the USA. And unless you speak perfect English you can't get a normal job doing anything other than Restaurant or labour hire work... Do your research !!

Adelaide would be better, Darwin has social issues. Perth is nice too but Adelaide more multicultural and Victoria, regional Victoria area are accepting of new non white migrants.
