The weight of harvest here per plant is 1.5 kg or 3.3 pounds. The leaves are a little old, looking from the plants being ready to harvest. The brown spots are not light light which would be more smelly and fast spreading.
These are Charlotte from homesaved seed, planted March. For me that is earlier than normal and we did not have a late frost so they have grown nicely, with very little maintenance needed, except to drop a little more compost on top. There is a little greening, but only on a few.

Awesome. I watched an experiment on " Self sufficient me " RU-vid channel, Where he put the tiny harvested potatoes into a sml raised bed to see if they would produce anything & the results were amazing. He got some good sized potatoes from those teeny tiny spuds & wound up with about the same dozen of so babies again in with them.❤

Amazing harvest off little plant, soil loose and well aerated

Yes indeed, and aerated by soil life, it feels very firm underneath but the roots go down well

Dear Charles, may your videos never end. I'm glad you're in my life. I water the potatoes grown in compost twice a week. How often do you water your potatoes?
@CharlesDowding1nodig
@CharlesDowding1nodig 7 дней назад
So nice of you, and it depends on temperature and how fast they are growing, that sounds about right, maybe three times as they get close to maturity
@stlmama7643
@stlmama7643 11 дней назад
Good to know. I usually wait until the plants die off completely. But I know there are some nice potatoes under there now, so I will go ahead and pull them up as they are starting to turn.

Hi . The later you harvest the more likely that slugs will damage? Is that what you mean by don't delay? Thanks
@CharlesDowding1nodig
@CharlesDowding1nodig 7 дней назад
Yes exactly, because potatoes are sitting there in wet ground and it's a risk, compared to having them in a dry sack

Thank you. My potatoes have been amazing this year. The broad beans on the other hand have been a disaster!

Thank you Charles - helpful to know that my potato plants don’t have blight and they’re supposed to look like they do. 🙂I have grown my first potatoes this year and had a small harvest - two buckets full of ants though and they had a right old nibble on them… Is this less likely in the open earth? Love your channel and have learned a lot from you already! 👍

Thanks, and sorry to hear that, usually ants are common where it's dry and soil tends to be less dry than in containers which also have the warmth they like

Had some whoppers off my arran pilots this year, bigger than most baking potatoes in the store - I guess it's all the rain! Wondering if it's worth lifting them all out now or getting them out when needed? Just worried about more rain and slug and other potential pest damage.

@CharlesDowding1nodig 7 дней назад
Congrats. I would lift them all, then plant autumn vegetables
