Rob on point with that marriage story reference with them arguing i thought that as well also ambika mod is killing it with the acting I’m really enjoying these reactions can’t wait for more
‘Your back doesn’t have a fucking hollow’ is a laugh out loud moment for me. 😂 The delivery was so perfect. Ambika even manages to be funny in dramatic moments.
British (and European schools in general) "hols" work differently than American ones. They have three terms- Autumn (early Sep-mid Dec), Spring (early Jan-Easter), and Summer (Easter to mid-July)- they get two weeks for Christmas and Easter holidays, while "the summer holiday begins in late July and usually lasts about six weeks" (there are also week-long half-term holidays, though the longer Autumn term means they might actually give them 16 days/3 weekends worth for that half-term). And she was living with Ian in the previous episode- they bought their place together (though as she points out in this episode, she was paying for most of it). As to whether she was having the affair with the headmaster before she and Ian broke up... they don't really clarify in the show (the author probably touched on it in the book I haven't read). But I love the song "Dreams" and I love what this sequence starts for Emma here...
In Germany summer break starts around mid July and lasts for 6 weeks. Fun fact...some states in Germany have a different summer break starting time, so that the whole country is not on summer break at the same time ;-).
I wasn’t a fan of Ian,he always gave me the ick and he definitely has some boundary issues but I honestly felt bad for him towards the end of the episode.🥴
Ian was way out of line going through Emma's things. I'm glad she's rid of him. He's the example of someone who you think at first is a nice guy but really it's an act. I think maybe he might have been truly upset there with the outburst. But he played on Emma's sympathy which is manipulative.
Really felt the rawness and intensity of Em's emotions in this episode as she hits a low point in her life. Yet showing resilience of character at the end. Ambika's acting was phenomenal and really draws you in!
Loving your reactions to this. I didn’t come to it cold having read the book and seen the original movie, but you are very perceptive with what you pickup on. This was a great Emma episode and Ambika Mod was brilliant in it.
I kinda get where you’re coming from Rob but I think it’s good for them to clear the air and talk about why their relationship didn’t work out even though it’s probably what he didn’t want to hear. I assume that’s why he’s asking all the questions you go through that when your partner has moved on but you haven’t you want to know all the whys, so I get where he is coming from. Even though the stuff he did like coming into her apartment, going through her stuff is wrong
English and Welsh school holidays usually start and are approx 6 weeks long. Scotland also has 6vweeks ago, but it was about 7 weeks when i was a kid and started in June.
Hey just so you know the English school system is laid out so the summer holidays normally start between the 10th and the 20th of July unless you go to a private school and get an extra two weeks off
When I tell you I was SHOOK when I saw Emma having an affair with a married man. I haven't read the book so I didn't know it was coming. There was obv some tension between them in the last ep but I thought if something were to happen it'd be when they're both single or something. Emma why??? 😭😭 It's so so gross and I'm so disappointed in her--and obviously the headmaster's a supreme scumbag and horrible for it too, but I mention Emma bc we know her better and I neverrr expected her to do something like that. As you can probably tell, I despise cheating.
