If you combine these new tools with Mumbo's bank combination build, you'd have a wealth of alternatives to using buttons. You could go full "Bopp-It" and make the solution something silly like: open a door, glide across pit, play the goat horn, and look through the telescope. EDIT: I see a few others have thought of that as well :)

My takeaway is that soon we’ll be able to send complex coded messages over some distance in Minecraft. There are 26 letters in the English language. That’s a small enough amount where if you have 13 signal strengths and one binary switch, you could effectively communicate all 26 letters of the alphabet. Granted, I think it’d probably be better to have only a few different signals that have simple phrases with important information. Like “come here” or “on my way” or “you’re in danger” or “Scar is going to visit you.”
@MrToby11
@MrToby11 Год назад
I think you could use just 1 signal for "you're in danger" and "Scar is going to visit you."

@engineer0239

You could already do that with regular redstone. Just make every redstone tick represent a bit, and if you want to send the number 8 you send 100001000, (The first 1 indicating the start of the message, and then the 8 following bits representing the binary number)
@PromptCriticalJello
@PromptCriticalJello Год назад
You could actually encode about 256 different signals with 2 digits that have 16 different values. with the 7 sounds that are easy to generate like the ones Mumbo showed it would be 49. So more than enough for the english alphabet, or a predetermined messaging system.

seeing as Minecraft is turing-complete, meaning you can make a functional computer in Survival mode with infinite complexity (up to the limits of your own computer of course), you could theoretically encode messages as a set of bits, wit a sound being transmitted representing a 1 and no sound being transmitted representing a 0. Adding the calibrated skulk sensor multiplies this bandwidth by 8, with an additional 14 sounds, increasing the bits per transmission from 2 to 16.

I LOVE the skulk piston door! You can probably make a 100% accurate Minecraft store now, with the automated sliding doors, and even one of those stolen item detectors, somehow lol. Maybe a farm animal store and the sensors for the beeper detect animal moving sounds, and beeps if it detects them, but behind the cashiers counter theres a lever to turn it on and off when a purchase is made! Like thats just neat lol
@idman4081
@idman4081 Год назад
I could actually see another way to do the theft detection for items as well so you don't need constant cashiers. Have a certain number of items on the shelf, aka in a barrel or something. A comparator is sending a signal out when it's full, calibrating a sculk sensor at the door to some noise a player normally doesn't make. If you take items out, now the sculk sensor isn't calibrated, so when you walk out it hears you and sets off some alarm. In order to not set it off, you have to place something back in the barrel as payment. It doesn't work perfectly because you may take a stack of something and pay with 2 diamonds maybe, but that will mess with the signal anyway and you might still trip the alarm. Still, if someone could find a solution to that, or if the price of whatever you're buying is close to 1:1 for what you're paying with, then it should work well to stop minecraft robberies lol

@@monatae9725 Well, that one redstone line can send one binary signal. A (i'm gonna use Mumbo's term because i like it) 'sound stone' line can carry one of 16 different signals. Not all of those signals are practical for use, but still.

@PromptCriticalJello Год назад
@@monatae9725 essentially it's 4 bit data compression. Instead of using one redstone line to send 4 bits in series, or using four redstone lines to send those 4 bits in parallel, you send one signal with a range of 0-15 to decode at the other end. Assuming you're familiar with Tango's Decked out set up. With 'sound stone' he could use one shrieker buss to send a signal out that activates all the clank hazards on level one, and use the same buss to send a signal to activate something else. Without those signals on that one buss triggering the wrong thing.

Thank you Stevious Music, for helping me have this epiphany.

Wait the wireless transmissions is actually insane because with decoders, and the 7 inputs you used that means you can walk around the "telephone poles" without it messing anything up. Not to mention you could definately just branch off the lines in different directions for different projects (or people!). Now this of course will require a lot of chunks to be loaded but still! A step into the future of telecommunications in minecraft!

Given that Skulk Sensors can be given specific frequencies now, you can totally make an easier (or at least unique) combination lock for a door. I feel it could be more compact with them and on top of that from what I can tell the sensors go through blocks so have the combination in one room and it releases a door in another without needing messy redstone lines.

This is great because I always thought the skulk sensor would be too volatile to use in allot of cases, too many random ways it can go off, but if it was wired to a very specific sound that would help allot. It also allows for some fun redstone contraptions, like some kind of blood ritual door that only opens at the sound of a player taking damage
@lewvainshtein4118
@lewvainshtein4118 Год назад
Here an idea for a door using a filter; Use a normal sculcsensor and a modified sensor to detect the sound.... If only the normal one detects it - kill the player, if both detect the noise, therefore the right code to enter, the door can open... You can probably somehow "overwrite" the signal if the normal sensor! (Other crazy idea; Make a Room with an Assistant - Depending what sound you make, the rooms changes, contraptions turn off and on and secrets are shown ;) ((Second idea - What about a code for a bank, only with making the right noises in the right order you can gain access))) Would love to see another video on the sensors

at 8:00, you dont actually need the glass! water will travel the shortest possible distance to a drop, and if there is no drop close enough, it will spread out evenly in all directions. as long as theres a drop next to the sculk sensor, the water will only flow directly towards it (usually just one block, though you could let the water flow further if theres redstone underneath that you cant get wet). so, for a calibrated sculk sensor, you can silence it and still have two sides that can take an output at once, while the third is the input, and the fourth is the water drop. its not something youll always be able to squeeze into a contraption, but its far from bulky!

For the waterlogged calibrated skulk sensor; it might be possible to use quasi-connectivity to get input a redstone signal. Surround the waterlogged skulk with blocks, then have the redstone dust go on top of one of the blocks bordering the skulk sensor. When powered it should trigger the skulk. Benefit is that if a nearby block updates your redstone won't get flooded.
