Completely agree that Toy Story should've ended with 3. I really like the shorts and mini films that they made after 3 which gave us little reunions with these characters to see how they were doing. But Toy Story 4 just... completely disregarded the messages and character motivations of the first three films and turned it into something completely unrecognizable. Is Toy Story 5 being made to possibly address the complaints of 4 and potentially end things on a better note that the fans will be happy with? Orrrrrrr..... is it for money? Either way, I'll be there at the theater, Day 1. These characters have been together with me my whole life. And even if things don't always turn out well, I'll always look forward to going on another adventure with them. To infinity and beyond!
I too LOVED those Toy Story SHORTS! What was great was that we saw our "friends" again (all OG cast btw - for the added plus) and that's all I needed...just fun little snippits! And here's the thing...I think a 5th film could have been put into production for BOTH of those reasons lol only time will tell! Thanks for watching!
Lightyear didn't bomb because people don't have in interest in Toy Story, it bombed because they didn't use established canon for the character. and what they DID give us didn't have ANY of the epicenes that people who were not familiar with the other series would have wanted. That was the only thing wrong with the movie. ANY other complaint is valid but not a factor. Some plots I would consider for a new Toy Story movie (ignoring the fact that it should have never happen ed and it ruined a perfect ending) 1. Go back in time and tell the story of Cast Iron toys facing replacement by plastic 2. Check in on Andy as he becomes a film maker who uses toys to make stop motion videos on RU-vid and as he becomes a father and buys toys for his own children, enter a New version of Woody and Buz and a plot line about reboots, nostalgia, remakes and revitalizations. Perhaps Andy works at a movie or TV studio and is involved in a Woody or Buz centered remake film 3. Watch Bonnie grow up , see how Buz and Woody act with out each other and maybe find some dumb way to bring them back together undoing the 4th film and pretending it never happened , it would be the MIB2 of the Toy Story time line. A getting the band back together story. maybe even write out the Potato heads and slinky dog. 4. Focus on a NEW kid and a NEW set of toys. Make all new original characters. or Focus on different characters from the same toy lines. Maybe even write in Star Wars, Marvel, Muppet, Oz , Disney , Simpsons, and Anime toys 5. Focus on an adult who collects toys 6. Not only make a new kid with new toys but also focus on a completely deferent toy genre and different imagination. you can even change the race, gender, sexuality, gender ID etc of the child in question or even change there location in the world. 7. Look at other kids with other buz and wood toys 8. do a story set in a museum 9. do a story about other reasons kids may need a toy 10. The story about the recalled toys could still work but with less focus on Buz and more focus on Woody and Bo
Some wonderful points and ideas here!!! And to circle back on Lightyear...It absolutely bomb for the reasons you suggested - however after that, it does somewhat tarnish the brand (even as a spin off)...they just need to make sure they stick the landing with a 5th film, otherwise it will be a struggle to bring it back full swinging!
It’s actually something I’ve been thinking about for some time!! I have a lot of love for Epic Mickey and want to make it “special”, as opposed to just any other video! But I have a few fun ideas I’m toying around with!
I think toy story should've stopped at toy story 3 but no! Toy story 4 came out it just... made me mad! You could've just made the toy story fans mad about Bonnie not going to lie I liked that they met bo peep again and Forky too but it just makes me feel like Bonnie's going mad its just a fork! And plus all it does is gets on all the toys nerves!!!👹👹👹👹👹👹👹
