Ah hell nah. This seems sus to me. Like you said, it’s going to take longer to sell, UN gets more monthly storage fees, buyer pays more, seller gets less, UN makes bank. I’ll never consign with them.
I sent in slides and I had the lowest payout for about a month now and it still hasn’t sold, sus af. It’s slides no way it hasn’t sold yet and I have the lowest payout on the platform.

If a shoe isn’t moving at 370 when the seller only wanted 230 payout for the shoe, at some point the price should definitely be lowered so the shoe can move quicker or at least wave the monthly stocking fee. To be fair, if that shoe does move for 370 and the seller specified only wanting 230 payout, the middle man (UN) should be able to keep anything on top as long as the seller specified only wanting 230. Just my opinion

Breakdown: most shops ask you what price you want to sell your shoes at. Then add 20% on top and sell it for that amount. UN is coming up w their own “market price” which makes them more money and charges their customers more than the standard 20%
i believe they price the shoes off an algorithm that averages everyone's payout amounts for the shoe. if you're the only seller, the fee is now 30%. the biggest issue imo with these terms is there was no transparency or notification to seller's about the changes. everything feels very one-sided, and it shouldn't be when you're doing business.

@@tellthetruth7497 they charge reasonable shipping prices to return your shoes, but i live in CA so it’s not too bad. however, it takes weeks for the request to be processed and inventory shipped. they seem to be severely understaffed for a huge consignment store.
Everything you said made sense and i also agree with what you said too! Sellers getting screwed with the mark up, especially if it just sits and don't sell. As a buyer why would i want to buy when they have marked it up that high?! Just cause it's the market price, don't mean one would buy from them, when it can be sourced cheaper🤔🤷♂️
I used to absolutely love consigning with UN. All my shoes would sell even after marking over 100-200 over stock x prices. Bricks would sell so fast! I started getting iffy when they took almost 1-2 months to pay me until i started blasting them on their Instagram comments to pay me. Then once they started doing the storage fee, I pulled out all my shoes.
No you’re are right, ever since this was implemented my shoes have not moved. I pulled my inventory and it took a very long time for them to give me my shoes back. Payouts also take a long time cause they give out checks.

I used to consign every shoe I touched with urban when they were in the boulevard mall and when they first moved to fashion show. Once they changed the drop off rules. To mail in only. I cut ties with them, what’s the point of my shipping boxes of thousand of dollars of shoes 15 minutes down the road? At that point I realized urban doesn’t care about their consignors. And this is just another example of them screwing the average consignors.
@@tellthetruth7497 I do have to clarify that they made the mail in rule during covid. Which is understandable, but after the mask mandate was lifted and life went back to semi-normal. They kept the mail in rule. Plus I was promised they were gonna lift that rule once they moved to Caesers. But after a month of asking and being told “next week”. I knew that would never happen. Every Vegas local knew that Urban was Goated and they made me a lot of bread back in the day. But they really neglected locals and now no Vegas Sneaker Head or Reseller I know consign with them. Needless to say I miss the old Urban Necessities and it will never be as great as it once was.
Consigned a TS OG Jordan 1 high priced at $2200. They proceeded to place it for sale at $3384. I shoe which is market $1500 depending on size I would take 700 profit, and they proceed to try to sell it at $3384?!!! I make $700 they make $1184??? UN officially a money grab imo. Truly unrealistic to be possible to move a $1600 product at $3384....

I sent a shoe to UN and listed my payout at 400. I do not know if I am only seller of that size but I have the lowest listed payout. On their site they list the shoe at 615, ~53% higher than my payout. Ridiculous.
3 of my pairs have sold recently the rest are sitting. I sent some bricks i just wanted to brake even on worth like 170$ on stock x and UN listed them for over 300$ 🤦🏻♂️
looking at it from UNs prespective, if people are allowed to be undercutting by £1 on a daily basis, how is UN supposed to update prices on the shop floor on a daily basis that would be completely impossible. Unless all the pairs had a barcode at the bottom of the shoe so that when is it scanned it brings up the "updated price" in realtime from the consignment platform and no pairs have a physical price attached.
@@tellthetruth7497 oh really no I wasnt being sarcastic haha im a london reseller (UK) so I don’t really know how they function, I consign in multiple stores in the UK and I also watch Js videos and kinda keep up with US sneaker “drama” etc. I made my comment legit 5 seconds after ending the video as it was the only thing that I couldn’t figure out how it was done or managed per say. Consignment in the UK is more backwards compared to the US, we agree on a list of shoes and the payout desired and the store has to be happy with the payouts so that they can mark up the prices at a reasonable rate (usually a fixed percentage) and then I just ship the shoes to the store etc If I was to ask a store I was consigning with to decrease the payout of a specific shoe I have no right or obligation to also make them decrease the sale price but majority would do it anyway as it makes sense bcse they still make their margin and they also want the shoe to sell as fast possible, win win. The UN issue is defo something that needs to be changed bcse if ur gonna charge someone “rent” but at the same time not having ur prices as variable then whats the point especially when you just cleared up that my pricing “idea” was actually how they already operated 😂

The sneaker market has changed and with that, so will the rules. People are real8zing they do not need a brick and mortor (i.e.: storefront) to move shoes. Places like UN, SG, FC, etc., want to keep their stores open and the market has dipped, the only way they're gonna make money when ppl aren't buying shoes, is to charge the seller. Why would a consignment shop change the price of the shoes b/c you change your price. They have a business to run and the last thing they're gonna do is read their computer everyday and have their stock staff changing prices on shoes all day or their mgmt staff manually reviewing new prices when the seller gets desperate and wants to be paid quicker. I'm not in favor of the consignment shop and their practices, but they do have to run a business at the end of the day. The goal is to maximize profits. I think that if you are going to change your price or want more control over how much you make, then use an online shop. Consignment shops seem to be a bit outdated and the only ppl that still go to them are celebrities and Little Timmy w/his parents.
So to answer your question, the whole UN store is ran digitally through the barcodes. When you go into the store there aren’t any prices on shoes, just a barcode that the customer scans and it will let them know what sizes they have and prices. So if i want to lower my price, i can do it through UN consignment manager, the employees don’t have to do anything, and it should update automatically.
@tellthetruth7497 I understand how it works, but just because you lowered your payout, does not mean they're going to change their price or sell your shoe quicker. If I have to sell a shoe and then look for the shoe with the lowest payout, that can take time. While the process is automated, retrieving the shoe is still manual and trying to find the physical shoe with the lowest payout is a hassle. Like I said, with all these online shops that are available and you can set your price, it's easier to use one of them.
I think another thing you didn't touch on enough is the storage fees. If you are right and this is how it works think about how much they make off storage fees a month. Because essentially the lowest payout is first in line so they make the most off of them. Then the people that are asking closer to "market" are stuck paying the storage fee. Lets say conservatively a popular sku like a Panda for example. If he has 200-300 on hand and they only move half. They made a ton of money because the people they pay out are the ones they make the most front end profit on. Then the people asking the high are left paying $2 per month. So if 150 dont move thats $300 in storage fees just for that SKU. Now imagine how many shoes he gets the storage fee on. It's almost like a dealership model front-end and backend profit. Its kind of brillant from a business sense but a big F U to the consumer. Who made him who is today. Just my 2 cents.
I’ve been studying his business dealings since the beginning of his RU-vid channel but I started paying a lot more attention since he signed with AE for the “pop up” a few years back. It’s interesting learning his bad and good business decisions. I kinda have an idea where this is going since that jump and well we’re here now. I’m not rooting for him but I’m also not praying on his downfall. A lot more people should pay attention to these things for personal knowledge and what to do , and what not to do.

Crazy reach… If you don’t like a shop’s consignment terms, simply go somewhere else or sell your shoes by yourself…. SIMPLE AS THAT! Same with low balling resellers… Simply say “No” and get moving….and work until you’re in their position!
they make much more selling there own shoes, they margins are lower on consignments it’s a business. is it the right thing to do probably not and there is a lot of shops you can go to. of course they will win at the end of the day you are coming to them they aren’t going to you.

There’s a shop called TheFix in California, and they’re prices are good, but their consignment items are ridiculously high! 😭 They even list the seller’s name next to the item online, I guess to be like “That’s them not us” 🤣 and those items don’t sell…seen them there for ages now… And you think a shop is gonna promote someone’s consignment item for a $40 profit when they can promote their own for $250 profit? And UN was built on them taking in madd shoes from everywhere and they don’t have to do that anymore! From their perspective, it’s a smart business, cause like the other comment said, you’re going to them, not them to you!
I actually dislike TwoJs as he is very cocky & absurd but, this was such a dumb video. Who is going to want $150 below market on a DS pair? 2. That storage fee is actually very smart as a business to gain more revenue, that’s what business is all about is finding new ways to generate revenue & it’s only $2/month that’s not bad at all. Now IF I’m right, there is (or was) a rule where if your shoes didn’t sell within a month you would have a week to pick it up or it is now their property which you did not bring up at all. He would try pressuring people at sneakercon to consign whatever they didn’t sell to bring it to him & they’ll take it to Vegas & consign so it would be very unfair to live across the country & having to go pick your stuff up in Vegas because he was not able to move it. Moral of the story: Do not take your stuff to consignment shops.
