lovely area. I was up there around this time last year, but with a broken starter motor on the paramotor.. a week long of glorious flyable weather I couldn't fly in. Just kayaked around the coast with the dog!
Hope you get 1000+ subs, don't know why there's not more. Really enjoy your videos Stuart. Loch Hourn is stunning and then off to either Knoydart coastline or towards Glenelg. Shiant Isles would be an adventure, cosy bothy and no longer any rats ! ATB

Hiya, no, you can wear what you want. Just be aware of water temperature and practice what to do in the event of a capsize. Always carry a few methods of calling for help and wear floatation.
@@dantzu I use an OS map as it’s easier to reference points on land compared to a chart. And I’m not concerned about depths. Methods of calling for help… Whistle VHF radio and know how to call for help Phone. What3Words app on your phone PLB - for if nobody hears the other methods of calling for help. Flares (I use a powerful LED version)
Great scenery and chilled music. What a difference a drone makes as well. I’m from Cornwall and love kayaking the Carrick Roads but this looks like a great spot. I have sit on top tourer and do many miles in mine but I’m considering a sit in kayaking similar to what you’ve got. I was worried about how easy it would be to get in and out compared to mine but then saw one of you dismount so easily at 1min 47sec. I’ve subscribed and look forward to more. 👍
Cheers Nick, it’s quite easy to get I and out. Test some kayaks, I’m not small so like a good sized cockpit to get me legs in and out whilst still sitting. Makes for easy launch/ landing and also massively helps when self rescuing.
@@nickvage8777 No, once whilst surfing, and I rolled back up. But they need active paddling in big seas, using the paddle to brace against capsize when needed. Comes with experience. They are really comfortable compared to SOT kayaks.
Just trying to work out your start point Stuart. Looked like you were in the bays East of Portuairk, but couldn’t be sure! Back up with my Canadian in late May & the sea kayaks in August. Have you tried the trip over to Oronsay and Carna from Glenmore & then up Loch Teacuis. Nice trip.
New to your channel and kayaking. Really enjoyed the film. Have just been discussing going to that area in 2024 as my wife is interested in the temperate rain forests there, and I want to kayak. I'm looking at my first sea kayak and am very interested in the P&H Scorpio, which I think you were using. Is it suitable for someone new to the sport?
@@solariss452 the landowner can apply for permission to ban access. One up there had a TV crew and a bunch of people being filmed surviving off the land in an enclosed, fenced, area. Access to the dunes, a beach above high water mark, and forest within what was previously open land was banned. Other bans can be applied for by landowners for such things as pipeline installation or forest felling, due to safety considerations, which are temporary. That's fine. However, some landowners use various exemptions in the act to block access. It then takes civil legal action by Rights of Way groups or local activists to reinstate the access. Costly. Things aren't perfect up here, but it is a lot better than other parts of UK.

Parts of Loch Lomond shoreline and other areas where 'dirty' camping was been done, usually near roads where people could drive with a car load of booze, with piles of rubbish left behind. Vandalism, such as trees or even signage and benches cut for firewood, became too big an issue to be managed any other way. There are designated wild camping areas but these are few in number and a permit is required from Spring to Autumn. Dirty camping is a growing problem, which will inevitably lead to further restrictions in other areas, but the general principle of responsible non vehicular access will continue. Only where there is environmental damage being done will restrictions be introduced.
