*Love the size and weight of this little jointer **MyBest.Tools** Easy to set up and light enough to pick up and put away. The adjusters and controls are dead easy to use. It has an aluminum deck rather than iron, but for those who are careful it should suffice, and it has a vacuum port that, unlike some other tools I have, actually gathers ALL the dust. Very happy with this for the price.*

No expert my any means but shouldn't first step be flattening the board before squaring the edge?
@TheGarageEngineer
@TheGarageEngineer Год назад
With a jointer you can square the edge without flattening first. But it depends on our final goal of the project which order you choose. Thanks for watching.

Good job! Thanks for the great review and the stand idea. I would like to build the stand on rollers with swing up arms that are equal in height to the jointer table. I am going to order the 10” version today! :-)

@@TheGarageEngineer yes, the 10 inch is new and on pre-order for November sometime next week I think - I sent them an email to sales@wahudatool.com (the one on the website does not work) and they said I could drive by and pick one up from their place in TN, I will probably get one next week

Try a wire brush by hand... followed by a floor scraper/paint scraper, etc...then the electric hand planer? The paint scraper has the blade perpendicular to the handle so it’s more of scraper to knock off the loose concrete. The wire brush like what you use for welding will loosen any embedded gravel or debris.

Great idea.
@mitchellkasdin1899
@mitchellkasdin1899 4 года назад
TheGarageEngineer it will save your blades on your e-planer. Eventually you will hit a nail or an FOD? I have a crappy metal wand that I use to check for metal.

I really like your stand. I plan on building one. However, your spec seems a little tall. The Wahuda cast iron top is about 8.5 inches above the base. Your design has 32" legs. That would put the jointer top at 40" (43-44 with casters). This is way too high. I thinking 22" legs, 3-4" casters, with 8.5 inches to the cast iron top, that will put it the top at about 33-34" from the floor. I suspect this will be easier to work with. I might add 2" to the depth for additional stability.

Thanks for watching. The best thing about making custom stands, compared to store bought, is you can make the stand the height that is comfortable to your workflow. Good luck.

@TheGarageEngineer

I just used it yesterday. The best part of that tool is the helical head cutter. Thanks for watching.
@jeremymcclanahan2389
@jeremymcclanahan2389 3 года назад
it is nothing like helical....it is like a straight knife that is not as long....less cuts per minute than a 3 knife straight blade head. A helical does not hit the wood at a 90 degree angle like this unit. A helical cutter is at an angle the gives a better slicing action

@russmartin4189
@russmartin4189 3 года назад
@@TheGarageEngineer I don't know. I don't want to spend more than I have to and a 10" model might be overkill for me. It seems the 8" would do what I need done. My father made do with a smaller one and built a lot of cabinets with it. He passed away in 2002, but he would have loved the Wahuda 8". I'm sad that he didn't live to see me get into woodworking. I started when I was 70, but I'm having loads of fun.

The jointer is manufactured in Taiwan, not China. So not American made, but also not slave labor authoritarians.

You killed me using concrete forms. So, you didn't ruin your jointer knives, but I bet you pretty much destroyed your planer blades. A $3 junk board is not worth it.
