Yeah and don't buy samsung or iphone. Just buy old Nokia 33 with REMOVABLE BATTERY woohoo!!!

@@jonathanhempshire8303 I actually still have one of them (Nokia 3310 to be exact). Just recharged it last weekend :D

It was explained in the end of the video that the built-in battery allows it to be smaller and the circuit more efficient with better contacts. If you want replacable battery, I guess you have to get bigger flahlight (or go Zebralight)
@@jonathanhempshire8303You do know that why nitecore does this right? So when the battery dies, you have to buy a whole new flashlight. Better business.
@@bored3419 Yeah and you already know too, this is what today's smartphones do -Apple, Samsung, Google pixel, and etc. In case of flashlights, there will be new models in the future so why bother keeping the old ones?
Built in battery is not best option but a lot of the flat models are going that way. For the price of a tank of gas, 2 year warranty and the small size with 4000 lumens, I preordered one. I walk most evenings in the dark for 3 miles so I can easily edc it.
7:35 man knows his audience. His honesty about the built in battery and max output runtime and usage make me want to buy this light from nitecore store. Damn.
the single tail light switch is meant to pair with the temporary lumin shield and search modes for quick access in emergency situations, but I understand what you mean
Issue isn't the proprietary battery. Issue is the *encased* proprietary battery. I actually use tactical lights on the job, in the real world. I have a few Nitecore models. My P10iX has a proprietary battery. In case a situation becomes a longer-term emergency than expected, I can swap out the proprietary battery in my P10iX, with another proprietary battery that I bought for the light and carry with me in a battery-locker. I can't do that with the EDC 33. It's just not an option. What happened in Louisiana with Hurricane Katrina was an eye-opener. Sometimes, you just don't have 5 to 8 hours to stop and charge up your primary light during an extended emergency. Police officers down there found that out the hard way. Rechargeable Duty Flashlights that use battery-sticks. Yes, the sticks were not encased. But practically none of the officers had extra charged up battery-sticks available to them. Having to make do with their back-up lights. Many of which were pathetically under-powered for the job of searching for survivors inside pitch black and wrecked structures/houses/buildings.
Built in battery is a deal breaker for me. Fantastic concept of the light though! Make next version with removable 18650 or 21700 and you’ll have a winner!
@@DUCzillaMonstercomplexity and advancement in technology between smartphones and flashlights are not comparable in my opinion. But as we see in many other comments as well, people are pretty split on the battery topic.
This is a build in battery because nitecore want you to upgrade. Just like the first iPhone 2G consumers asking why not 3G. Then next year boom it's 3G then people are lining up for the latest. Then people start to complain and beg for a much bigger screen. Not until the iPhone 6 have bigger screen one of the best selling iPhone to that date. The same with this. We were waiting for a hybrid Nitecore P20iX which is probably the best selling compact floodlight out there. Then what if you have a P20iX which also have a Spotlight like the P- or other well known Spotlight by nitecore. Then boom we have the first compact flood to spot. This is done because if the EDC33, is a removable battery and have sufficient size so that it can act as a heat shield and also those carbide tips then spott and removable battery it will cannibalised sales of the P20iX, the SRT7i and the P23i series of flashlight. Like what they said you cannot have it all.
I was impressed with the performance and reviews I've seen so far. So I've ordered one .The fact you can't change the battery doesn't really faze me personally.
I was all ready to buy 1, then found out sealed battery😢. No thanks, once it dies it's a dust collector. Same problem Olight Arkfeld has. And if you want to "save the landfills" no need to toss an entire light.
@@NitecoreStore awesome! I ordered the edc33 yesterday, still getting the same innovative concept in a smaller package, it think it's gonna be perfect. But having a 21700 version as well is a good idea.
I Love it + Love Nitecore products...... As Soon as I saw all the features I knew I was getting one...... BUT, THEN....... It not having a removable battery is a huge miss for me. Instead of a quality flashlight that could last me the rest of my life, it has a way shorter lifespan ticking away....... 😩🥺
If you only have one or two flashlights, this one isn't the best choice. If you already have 10+ flashlights, this one definitely has a place in your collection.
LOL! I think you live in a cave. Not really an issue since there are other flashlights with removable battery to suit your need. Don't buy this if you're one of the stupid people that overthinks "built-in" battery because it will deteriorate after 1 month blah blah blah. Use your brain!
@@Let_there_be_flashlight I have about 12 Semi Real Flashlights + 3 Weapon lights.....Only 5 Flashlights are Nitecore. I definitely want + will get more lights. 😁😁😁 I definitely Like this one ALOT but the light is basically disposable when the battery gives out. I only have one lights that has a built in battery, due to that reason, and that one, is only a keychain light. Everybody has there likes, dislikes, + preferences though. Have a good one. 👍
@@joshkellis6499 I agree with you on the battery. It’s a disposable flashlight. A very good disposable flashlight but still it’s disposable. I have a couple of Nightcore bigger products the TM 39 with both battery options. Nightcore makes a great product, but I’ll have to pass on this little bugger.
How is the spot mode able to get more throw than the "lumen shield" mode, which has higher lumens? Since this is an "edc," it should have a 1 lumen mode. Other than that, it looks pretty awesome. Good to see someone realize that tail switches aren't just for swat team flashlights.
Does the clip reverse? One of my more common uses for my current EDC light is clipping it on the brim of my ball cap for a improvised headlamp. Obviously I don't want it to point towards me.
So.. 4000lm shield for how long before it ramps down?? 1700lm search for how long before it ramps down?? I will admit 1200lm high is pretty impressive but my 10 year old EagTac D25LC2 Tactical can produce 1374lm on high with no ramp down..
Actual run times is one of my major concerns when I buy a flashlight. The other is how effective is the actual beam at relative distance, not Max distances. I keep telling myself I'm going to buy a lumen tube 😎
As you were running through the battery durations for the various brightness modes you failed to state the battery duration for search mode ad for lumin shield modes.
They need to stop calling their batteries 18650. They are NOT. Even the removable ones are not 18650(most). They are 18650 size but proprietary. That's like calling a VW a BMW because it's the same size as the BMW.....
So, the only way to access the flood beam, is to have the long throw leds also on, in flood+beam pattern at the same time? And at blinding 4000 lumens in "search mode"?? 😭 Is this correct? For anyone looking for a good two light solution, I use the p20ix for the wonderful flood beam and size, plus the multi function *strobe ready tail switch. It's been my go to for years and years. Best innovation and programing ever imo. I use the srt7i for my long throw situations with the upgraded rotary dial "strobe ready" tail switch + infinite steeples brightness settings. Perfect combo imo. But having two lights is less then optimal. Just my two cents and advise for anyone if I could access just the flood mode. Especially with this new led! Dang, I'm bummed :(
I also waited for something like the SRT7i, passing on some of Nitecore's previous offerings. I am so glad I waited the SRT7i is an amazing flashlight. Kudos to Nitecore 👍
i don’t so much mind the built-in battery. i’m seeing the pocket clip, but i’m not seeing that it’s “deep carry.” looks like there’s actually quite a lot of show as compared to anything from the Olight Warrior series. would love to see some size comparisons there specifically.
Unfortunately this light gets outrageously hot really fast when using search and lumin shield. And the switch must be held very hard to use the shield mode.
Waiting on my replacement! I don’t know why it stopped working but I received my EDC33 like 2 weeks ago and after charging it for a few min as it basically came fully charged, I tried clipping the carabiner to my belt loop and missed dropping the light about 3 feet causing the light to no longer function in any mode. I played with it before and it was amazing! I was heart broken! But, Nitecore customer service came to the rescue and now I’m waiting on a brand new replacement arriving soon! I can’t wait! Confused as to what caused the issue as it is rated to 2m impact resistance, but Nitecore honored there warranty and hopefully the replacement will light my way for years to come!
Your argument for the built in battery is false. Olight Warrior Mini 3 is a great example. It is smaller than the EDC33. Significantly so. Wowtac A7 is about the same size yet uses any standard 18650. I only own one Nitecore flashlight. It's an old P20UV. It also still works just fine because it just uses an 18650 with a button top. That was for polarity protection. Oh well, maybe in a few years they will make another version of the EDC33 with a replaceable cell.
Disappointment from Nitecore my fav brand 18650 built-in battery is a big NO! Lumen shield 🙄 i have Nitecore EDC flashlights with Strobe it's more than enough to scare away Dogs easily as iv found out and at least if out for longer periods walking i can always bring an extra 21700 Battery🔋yh i know ppl saying but 18650 are more compact i dislike them in a flashlight i only use them in a good quality headlight a step backwards imo from Nitecore 👎
I dont understand the fuss about this flashlight having a built in battery. Most if not all smart phones and computers have built in batteries and are very difficult for an unskilled person to remove them without damaging the device. I pre ordered this flashlight and cant wait for it to come in. Nitecore flashlights are excellent products.
You would understand the fuss if you ever had a job, where sucking down a battery in just one night (shift) is rather the norm. What you gonna do? Plug the light onto a power bank and continue with a long cable hanging out of your pockets for the next five seconds? Besides comparing a high power LED flashlight with a phone just shows that people have no clue what they are talking about. A built-in battery alone is a total deal breaker but the ridiculous decision to drop the output from 4000 lumens to five is insane standing literally in the dark during a possible critical situation is nothing but unacceptable. Yes, Nitecore makes very good products, I have and carry three lights of them and they work flawless even one is over fifteen years old. But the EDC33 is a bad joke, which is really sad because it could have been one of the best flashlights ever.
@@LV-42617 Theres no reason for you to be rude, im entitled to my own opinion and so are you. However, I agree nitecore is a great brand and i own several models of that brand. This particular flashlight is not meant for everyday use and is meant to be a tactical or utility purposes. How often do you use a flashlight for tactical purposes? I work in a job where i use a flashlight on a daily bases and I have to charge it every few days. If you have a problem with this particular light than dont buy it.
Not a single word on the price? $70. I'd prefer a removable 18650. I don't see why the contract/circuit would be better with the battery being built-in, but I can see that making it marginally smaller and more waterproof.
Great looking edc light. Can the proximity sensor be disabled completely? Does the 1200 ramp down or stay at 1200 till out? I don't mind a built-in battery, but the proximity sensor is not needed. I hope they don't add the prox. sensor to any of their future flashlights.
Hello, the proximity sensor can be disabled temporarily by pressing on the tail light switch when it's activated, but it will revert back when turned off and back on. The 1200 will eventually ramp down to prevent overheating but it does a great job as quickly cooling down due to its uniformed body, so you shouldn't have to wait much time to return to its full 1200 lumens! Hope this helps!
Wow that is harsh. I also like the former crew a lot as the guy had a real sense humor. But the current crew is doing very well I have not bought so many Nightcore flashlights in my life as I have in 2023.
Your comment is valid. It's there company and they can do as they want. In this politically correct world, it was our belief that politics could be a factor. This new guy doesn't even come close to the former man and woman who did the advertisments. This new guy doesn't speak clearly as well. We could definitely be wrong in making these above assumptions 🤔 God bless 🙏.
There are a lot of excellent review sites out there and once this light hits the market I'm sure we'll start seeing actual run times at different levels and test on the heat that this thing puts out. I already preordered I hope I am not disappointed, judging by the other Nightcore lights I already own I did this preorder with confidence
Does your make you half click twice to stay in high? If I turn mine on in medium, half press, it goes to high and immediately steps down...then I half press again, it goes to high and stays in high. Does yours do the same? Or if you turn it on in high, does it immediately step down, until you half press into high again, and then stay in high?
That sounds like the light is stepping down, and then by changing the mod you are entering back to high, you can check out the user manual online at our storefront, or here is an exhaustive video about operation ru-vid.comvpNtlugWcVM

Does yours do the same? Or if you turn it on in high, does it immediately step down, until you half press into high again, and then stay in high?
Nice light, but since you will be manipulating the tail swatch often for the many modes meaning the tail switch is it's weakest point. Tail switch for this reason should be removeable for it to be replaced when it fails and to give you access to replacing the battery.
I specifically bought this because it had a rechargeable battery. For me when I travel, I don’t have to carry an extra battery since I’m not using it all the time like that.
Great light, some awesome unique features just wish the modes were flipped. The main brightness levels should be with the floodlight and the spotlight only comes on the brightest level as a spotlight or with the floodlight for that Lumin Shield
@@NitecoreStore, I have noticed that, yes. But that is not what I am looking for. Can you recommend a flashlight which throws light at a few hundreds of metres with minimum spill?
This light is meant to be an EDC that you use when necessary and also as a cool light to add to a collection. It's not meant for work everyday use, therefore with it's new strong lithium ion battery, this light should definitely last you a good couple years! Hopefully this clarifies!
I understand where you're coming from. But I have several lights with built-in batteries that have lasted for years. As long as the price is reasonable as this flashlight is very reasonable I don't have a problem with it. But again I understand where you're coming from
it is really great. Maybe for the next model in the half lockout mode you can insert a momentary very low light for searching when half press. It would be very great to search in the backpack or something like that
its got some nice new features, but i feel like id like the edc35 better. although i think both lack tail stand capability which is one feature i really like in a flashlight.
@@btcpyr hmm thought the button extends past the edge. must be mixing it up with another light. I've watched so many videos lol. just rewatched that part of the video and the video for the edc35 and it looks like the edges are raised for tail standing. edc35 looks more appealing to me 5000lumens flood and 3000 lumen spot. 550m throw which is more than the p23i i own and the mh12 pro.
Received 2 of these a few days ago. This is not your daily flashlight. It’s designed by pressing a click u will get a blinding beam. The bezel of the light heats up extremely fast at the head area if the bright mode is pressed continuously more than 20 seconds. Trust me what ever that bezel contacts afterwards will leave an everlasting circular burn mark. IMO it’s good for back up or kept close to your “tool”. It’s an EDC emergency back up light. Battery is not replaceable, eventually the light will have to be retired after 1-2 years of heavy use. Relatively cheap $65 each and serves its design purpose.
Nitecore EDC33 (from Google translator): arrived today 2/01/2024 and returned after 2 hours, it's not all positive! PRO: 1) incredibly powerful; 2) fast charging; 3) pocket-sized. AGAINST: 1) the lighting sequence is incomprehensible or doesn't work, it switches from maximum to ultra low without intermediate steps (it's a new product, there may be something to review); 2) it heats up too quickly and being small forces you to hold it from the end with just your fingers and use it with two hands (it cannot be used as a tactical torch); 3) the power button causes too much resistance on the second click and it is not possible to use it holding the flashlight with only one hand, especially when the flashlight is hot because the hand has to slide backwards and to change brightness you need to use two hands; 4) it's shameful that it doesn't come with a case, it has a strap that's useless (low-grade gadget). Final judgement: powerful but unmanageable.
