Not on paper definitely not. But this team looks stronger defensively and mentally which is needed is Europe.

Better defenders now, but the Centurions conceded fewer goals, and scored more freely. The central midfield of prime Fernandinho, Silva and De Bruyne, was on another planet, (even if it was only City fans that ever realised it).

For me it’s the centurions, they were absolutely mesmeric that season, if they didn’t have that terrible 20 mins at Anfield, they probably would’ve won the champions league

Simple answer, no. The 17/18 18/19 side that took consecutive PL titles and 198 points across two seasons while under very real pressure from a superb Liverpool team wouldn't have to be chasing Arsenal for the PL title this season. City this season have been good in the league, but they've also dropped a fair amount of points against teams they really shouldn't have been troubled by. That said, they could still go to win the PL and UCL this season, in which case they'd undoubtedly be the greatest City side, even if they aren't the best technically.

This is not the best City team but it is a very mature City team.

Joleon chatting rubbish about the UCL final. Chelsea beat them 3 times in a row but never played against City's first choice XI. Then come the final Pep made an objectively poor decision in refusing to start Rodri or Fernandinho. He also brought Sterling in from the cold and he was poor. The one goal scored literally came right through the middle of the park where a proper DM would have been covering.

Last year and 2021 as a team they control the games and played better but now definitely it's the most competitive by far either defense and attack which is crucial for Champions league

i was watching them last night and it didn’t look like they were going to bottle it at all. Players like dias haaland rodri don’t look like they’ll feel pressure so it’s just making sure the players like bernardo stones and walker don’t panic in big moments

Arguably this is the best Man City team ever. With Pep playing 5 CBs at the back while having Grealish and Bernado on the ball, and De Bruyne getting crosses in for Haaland, no one is stopping them.

idk man. That Aguero, Dzeko, Silva, Nasri, Yaya, Kompany team was crazy. This City team somewhat rely on Haaland (which isn't necessarily critique, Haaland just can't stop scoring). I think if they played each other, Yaya Toure would bully this latter team. But then Haaland would probably score lol

City are a great team but the way the pundits were speaking is laughable if Bayern had a top striker it could have been a different outcome. They had chances last week and tonight they had 19 shots 7 were on target. City will have to up there game or Real Madrid will knock them out again.

Genuine question, is the 2012 man city team even in this discussion or not? They had a great team in my opinion. Joe Hart in goal , defense of glichy, kolo/lescott,kompany and Richards /zabaleta, midfield; Barry Silva, yaya etc. And Aguero , tevez, dzeko among many others of course , like James Milner etc.

No Man City had a better balance in 2017 - 2018. Ederson, Fernandinho, Aguero, KDB, Sterling and one of the best midfielders in the world and a steal at the time David Silva but another player who was excellent that year but may have been forgotten was Leroy Sane.

Mancini's team in 2011-2012 was definitely the most entertaining to watch. As a neutral, I loved watching them play back then. They are probably better now, but it's not as exciting...

Haaland is the best player they’ve ever had, but some of the positions could’ve been better. Could’ve had a better left back. Could also have had a better right winger. KDB has been variable this season. His vision and feet are great, but his reaction time defensively has been better, and he’s getting a little bit slower than a couple of years ago. Ederson is also good, but not too 10 in the world. They could use more stability in the back.

2017/18 and 2018/19 were the best Man City seasons ever unless City win champions league and premier league.
