I like the idea of supporting a smaller brand but I’m not convinced by this one. It might be inexpensive but it’s actually “cheap”. VFM isn’t there in comparison to other $1k hard tails. Vitus Sentier, Canyon Stoic 3, Commencal Meta Origin… there are better options if you’re shopping based on spec.
Hey, I’ve been watching the development of the Norton on Spindatt for a while and I bought a frame to do a parts bin build for my wife. I wanted to love the bike and I’ve built up many bikes from frame only. The information in the specs on Poseidon website is extremely poor if you want to do a build yourself. They say the frame is ready for 180mm rear rotor, it is with a 20 mm adaptor so it’s actually built for a 160. The biggest problem is the rear thru axle. It’s boost yes but they don’t tell you the thread pitch or length. They told me it’s 180 mm x 1.5 pitch. Nobody makes a 180mm long axle x 1.5 and I bought a 178 from wolf tooth. The frame actually closer to a 172 or maybe 175 so it’s been a total pain in the a$$. I need to go to the hardware store to see if I can get a spacer. I’ve taken a bunch of pictures and am an experienced bike builder so I’ll ping them in the morning. So far, not impressed.
Should have mentioned I asked them to sell me a an axle and they said no, they only supply as part of a full build, go figure. I wish I’d just bought a Nukeproof scout frame, they come with a rear axle and given the F ing about I’ve had with this it’s cheaper! I built one last year. Zero issues and 100% happy.
Sounds like an absolute pain, I was debating whether or not to get this frame and do the same, but definitely not after reading this. Did you ever figure out the rear axle? If I ever get this bike I don’t wanna be hunting for the right rear axle size incase something goes wrong
I believe they have the through axel details on the website now. It was a lot of messing about yes but once sorted out it’s actually a nice bike. I really want to support smaller brands like some others have commented but they need to get better!
Getting a dropper post (adding weight) upgrading fork and wheels (dropping weight) seems kinda costly and one should just consider a bike with at least a dropper and a better fork.
Im so tired of seeing poseidon. Its a cheap brand that only RU-vidrs like, giving bad information to people who then make bike shop employee's lives harder.
