Seahawks beat reporter Corbin Smith, host of Locked on Seahawks and lead writer for All Seahawks, impressed me so much with his latest mock draft that I just had to have him on the show to break it all down.
As many mocks as I do, I don't think I've been able to nail one in quite this manner, and what intrigued me the most was when he went in a direction with Seattle's first pick that I NEVER take.
He'll explain his thought process, and how this 9 player class would fit in Mike Macdonald's first year as Seahawks head coach.

Ahhh...mock draft season, a time of dreams, opinions, hot takes and BBQ. Love both Dan and Corbin's takes on the Hawks; this draft is the most intriguing and plausible I've seen so far.

@@punishunext5148 Just look at how JS drafted last year. Nobody could have predicted that due to all of players JS wanted that got taken before Hawks could pick. And also the trade backs that didn’t happen because JS couldn’t find a trade partner.

Schneider doesn’t usually trade down very far with his initial trade down in the first round. One possible trade partner is the Eagles to get JPJ because they need a starting center and the Dolphins who pick one spot ahead of them are also in the market for interior OL.

I’ve seen a lot written about the Seahawks potentially drafting Fautenu and converting him to guard, left guard more specifically. I think his linemate Roger Rosengarten would be at least as well suited to that and should be available in day two.

I’m a realist. My hawks might be 8-9. I just don’t see the talent on this team. This team is mediocre to be honest. Now a big draft could get them closer but don’t really have the commodity .

two great guards should be available in the second round: Cooper Beebe and Chris Mahogany

Yes, and they are also mobile and can play LG. Mahogany did have an ACL injury. Puni is another mobile LG, and Barton may be available in later round 1.

I didn't like that trade back trading past 25 in this draft doesn't feel good. We don't need another speed rusher and that's what Robinson is . We need someone like Verse or Latu at Edge someone with more size and length like a Clowney. On the plus side Robinson speed is very very good so he should be able to drop back in coverage and actually cover someone when he's not playing at the line of scrimmage . My concern is his ability to set the edge at the next level .

At 60, both Payton Wilson and Cedrick Gray will be available and both offer far more value than Junior Colson. Chop Robinson has virtually no stats, and no justification for drafting this high, or at all imo, when compared to three guys who offer more value in lower rounds. Brennan Jackson is a must draft guy. Zion Tupuola-Fetui has skills, and Mohamed Kamara would make an excellent OLB/DE. We can get those guys between 185 to 194.

Payton Wilson has a scary injury history and hasn't played in a scheme like Seattle's. Gray is small and may have difficulty defending the run at next level. Both have plenty of strengths and likely will go on day two or early day three at latest, but Colson is younger than both and offers more size with coverage and blitzing ability.

@@LockedOnSeahawks Cedrick Gray is 21 years old - only a month older than Colson, and is the perfect lb for the Macdonald system, racking up 340 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, eight sacks, five interceptions, 12 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries over the past three seasons. He just outproduced and outperformed everyone else. He's the same size as Edgarrin Cooper, and if you go by the combine measurables instead of college, Gray is currently the same size as Payton Wilson, although the latter looks like he could pack more muscle onto his frame in the right program. Colson is just a half inch taller than Gray, but he does have that naturally huge frame. Gray and Wilson have the upside to be very productive over the long term, whereas Colson racks up those 100 tackles a season and occasionally gives you some other stat.

Barton is the best O-lineman that is mobile and can play all 5 positions. But, Beebe & Mahogany are next best mobile OGs that have played LG. Puni would also work.

Naw Schneider will draft a CB, wr or RB because we don't need them. But he will get them early so no value is left at the positions we need.

The problem with this mock draft is that many of these prospects could be gone before the Hawks pick. It’s a wishful thinking mock draft, and 31 other teams are going after these same prospects. Just look at what happened last year when Hawks prospects were gone and they could not find a trade back partner.

You have to laugh at these. Every team wants those players. Most will be long gone. Trades right. They always pick the perfect trade which never happens. A total waste of time. I never watch these they are just too laughable because it's never going to happen 95% of the time unless it's in a dream world. The only thing you can bet on is Seattle is going to trade down and it doesn't matter who is there. The GM lovers picks even if those picks are trash.

Neither Beebe or Mahogany are lasting until the 3rd and 4th rounds. Both of those are a round later than reality. If you are going to do drafts make them realistic. This is nonsense.

That's correct. Beebe is a internet fave. He's always mocked like at end 2, or start 3. Mahogany is a right G. Keegan was the starter at left guard for the Wolverines over the past three seasons. So maybe in the 5th. Isaiah Adams played LG and RT for Illinois. I think a lot depends on what they know about Abe's knee. I'll bet they try to draft Trever Wallace. LB. He visited. Right name?
