Probably because of the way people voted for the albums. iirc each person picked their top 10 albums and they were compiled into a list. I doubt many people had multiple of the same artist on their own lists but it turned out like this anyways
Bruce Springsteen is one of the few “dad rock” artists that I think is genuinely deserving of the hype he gets. One of the best singer songwriters of the era with one of the most impressive discographies out there considering just how damn huge and consistently good it is. Heartland rock standard bearer.
fair, but a "top 100 album oat" is also based in influence, in this case nevermind was the centerpiece of the grunge scene and it's a symbol of pop culture
@@MysterE_06 not the greatest. Bitches brew is not Miles’ best and a love supreme is not Coltrane’s best. I just don’t understand the necessity to have every genre represented when they clearly don’t have a deep understanding of certain genres. Just stick to what you know yk
@@ChicagoFireFan99 bitches and kind of blue are so different and individually influential, comparing them seems vaguely unreasonable (and they'd both deserve to be on a greatest list). imo Love Supreme is one of the best (and most accessible) jazz records ever, so having that as a consistent pick makes sense, even if I could see the argument for giant steps. haven't seen the full list, but there should be at least 1 mingus album and inner mounting flame.
Albums that there will be in the Top 60 - 2 Beatles album at Least (Revolver and Abbey Road I think) - MBDTF - Skinny Fists - Reinassance and probably Lemonade - Lauryn Hill - The Blueprint - Is This It - Unknown Pleasures - 2 Pink Floyd albums (TDSOTM and Wish You Were Here) - Disintegration - The usual 3 Radiohead Albums (OKC/ KID A/ In Rainbows) - Loveless - The Queen Is Dead - What's Goin on - Demon Days or Plastic Beach - Electric Ladyland - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 - Master Of Puppets - Sound Of Silver or This Is Happening - London Calling - TPAB and GKMC - Funeral - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea - Long Season or The 1998 Live Album by The Fishmans - Whatever People Say I Am - Remain In Light - Mezzanine or Blurred Lines - Lonerism or Currents - Crimson King - Lateralus - Discovery or RAM by Daft Punk - Illinoise - Enter The Wu-Tang - Illmatic - Have a nice life - Rumors - The Glow Pt. 2 - Ziggy Stardust
it receives a lot of love critically, from what I've seen over the years. they're both great. I prefer bringing it all back home, but that's probably never making a list.
When you aggregate people's taste there's probably not going to be much metal. What is funny is how much the sub complained about the Apple list not having metal.
@@Billiamwoods Sure! although we have metal songs with 1bi plus streams, “internet” music rankings tend to rather have 15 obscure indie folk, post art chamber cirlcejerking folk songwriter techno music.
@@goldenstarmusic1689 that's the whole point though. It's not about the "incel lyrics", it's about accepting these weird feelings and growing out of them
So far from what I’ve seen, this subreddit needs to stay away from making a top 100 albums list because this has been somehow worse than the Apple Music one
20% of the apple music list was only on there due to the nostalgia factor + popularity, not due to innovation, not due to novelty, not due to excellence in musicianship, not due to lasting influence. it is a pretty low bar.
@@grogu1986 yep, fantano subreddit doesn’t think any sabbath record deserves it despite the fact they pretty much invented metal, no Metallica, iron maiden, no death, no slayer etc… and that’s just metal, no stooges, no joy division, no black flag or bad brains. Yeah safe to say fantanos subreddit is incredibly uncultured
I can’t stand for that Although I do think blue is objectively better, kind of just depends on the mood though because they have completely different tones
No he doesn't. He just said if you're gonna pick a Weezer record for a top 100, have it be blue instead of pinkerton. Nothing about that insinuates that he hates pinkerton. I mean, it's literally his second favorite Weezer album
When he said "Low" i thought he was talking about the band Low, not the David Bowie album. I was about to be overjoyed that "I Could Live In Hope" or "The Curtain Hits The Cast" were about to get some love because they are flawless albums, but no.
God damn it, somebody needs to filter this list to delete or correct all of the times 2 or more albums by the same artist made it to the list, there's like 2 nirvana albums and like 3 frank ocean, basically their whole discography lmao
Yeah, nah, I don't care about subreddit's or some nobody's list of top 100 albums. I am commenting here because youtube won't let me comment on the ads. Hey RU-vid! Open up the comments on the ad videos! What are you afraid of?
Goes to show that people on the internet that calls out the Apple's list and Rolling Stone's as bs aren't so qualified to make this kind of list after all 😂
I don't think this list was curated, nor had an editor filtering it. I think it was simply voted by anyone who wanted to participate. IMO that makes it a different kind of list, which is why the "quality" suffers, with respect to certain expectations of the applicability of the list. yeah, that makes it not really much better than those other lists that (supposedly) had that kind of process. but I personally think it's comparing apples and oranges.
@@doglog3934 So is that why people are angry because, idk, Thriller isn't #1 or their fav albums isn't higher than someone else's album? The subreddit's list isn't even finished yet and it's already worse than Apple's and Rolling Stone's. All I'm saying is, people that complain abt certain lists of big media corps are stupid when their own list is much worse than the ones they complained abt. Because #1 they are not music critics like Fantano and #2 they don't have a team in making these lists who, unlike them, have discussions and arguments in an objective manner.
There are so many better albums than Pinkerton which deserved to be on this list. Autumn of the Seraphs, Information Retrieved, Sirens of the Sea, Isola, hell I'll even say Infinite Granite is better. There's at least a couple Swervedriver albums that could have made it on this list too.
god these lists are always the same no unique or interesting picks just The top 100 RYM albums but in a slightly different order its so lame.., also would it kill people to listen to more jazz beyond a love supreme??? Come on now!!!!
@@blarghblargh ok what even is the second album for one? Two, who picks that album from Bowie’s discography as his best? Three: who is Anco? Also Lorde is definitely not top 100 albums of all time levels of good.
I have no clue why you think Blue is better than Pinkerton when blue has filler songs like Holiday and In The Garage. It's still a fantastic, iconic, fun and replayable album but Pinkerton is much better.
are people not doing this to increase engagement and boost the algorithm? do they actually think it's funny and not tired? just checking if I actually have to be annoyed by it or not.
