I built an EDH deck for Eriette of the Charmed Apple that makes use of her first ability that ISNT Voltron or Curses. Me on Threads: ElementHobbies This deck on Moxfield: www.moxfield.com/decks/WSXBz4... Stock footage by cottonbro studio
I keep seeing most builds completely ignore the word planeswalkers in the "can't attack you or planeswalkers you control" part. I've managed to get off a couple of ultimates already with my deck.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw this way of building. My opinion, this is the most flavorful way since she is based off the evil queen from snow white
I like Necropotence for Eriette as a backup in case I don't have any enchantresses on the field. The life cost is already minimal anyway, but if you're draining any life from Auras then you won't even notice. I'd also suggest Warlock Class to help ramp up the life drain, and Cleric Class to a much lesser extent if you think you'll need to ramp the life gain. Lastly, it's not quite on theme, but I've had great results using Mysterious Limousine. I'll generally target an opponent's commander with its ETB, and they'll usually move it to the command zone, which means that the Limo will be empty when it comes back round to attack phase on the next turn. And since its Crew 2, Eriette is perfectly suited to pilot it. If I can make my opponents think the 4/4 vehicle is a bigger threat/nuisance than Eriette, then that's already paid for itself.
This was the first video of yours I’ve seen. Was curious how to build a deck around this Commander and you did not disappoint! Love the presentation, explanations, and just the overall style of the video. Fantastic work!!
This is the first thought i had when i saw this commander for the first time, as i love cards like Stab wound. I'm so relieved i finally found someone who agrees with me and made a deck list for me to use. You got a new subscriber, sir.
This is perfect. Thank you. I dont like tron and I’ve been hunting a way to player like this. Just hadn’t had time to dig through all the auras like this. Thank u so much for doing all this work. ❤❤❤
I recently made this deck as a staxs mode, and it's amazing because, u can protect yourself at same time u make other players just play slowly during the draining game !!
Super happy to see this go up! I pulled two Eriettes out of draft boosters and decided I'd build a 60-card deck for Standard with her. I'm exploring a few options for auras as I don't have the whole "eternal format" thing going for me, but at least I can run 4-ofs. Gift of Fangs from Crimson Vow is a one black mana -2/-2 for anything that isn't a vampire (and +2/+2 for vampires) that could be a bargaining chip if any opponent has a vampire out; buff their vamp BUT it can't attack you and still drains. I'm running a couple beefy vampires as my "this game needs to be over soon" but that's less thematic for EDH. There's also a witch that makes a 1-mana Wicked role and then comes back with Menace. Still working on it. I like the idea of using player curses and artifact curses as they're much harder to get rid of. Cool tech. Totally agree with not going full Voltron on it, getting hit with a Path to Exile or something is just going to reset your gameplan that way. After looking at the deck list, I think there's some very good potential additions here: - Spellbook Vendor lets you create a new aura on a creature you control every round for (1) generic mana. It's a 2/2 with Vigilance and with a role it'll be 3/3 vigilance scry-1 on attack. Even with just your commander out, that's a pair of enchantments and some draw sculpting. - I think Lotho, Corrupt Shiriff is too good not to run just as a general "oh, you're doing stuff? Pay me." His single life loss is irrelevant. - Dipping back to LTR again: Call of the Ring could be a decent card-drawer + build up that big ring for looting/mass damage. Eriette herself is a fine ringbearer as her power's relatively low with high toughness so she'll be hard to block in a deadly manner. - I think a Markov Purifier could be a decent card-drawer for you. With Eriette out you'll have lifegain; for another (2) you can draw a card. - I think that a Swiftfoot boots would serve your commander well, that Shroud is going to be important so she can't just be nailed with Path/Swords or any other targeted hate. - Greater Auramancy could be nice and it got a reprint in the bonus sheet this set. Protect your enchantments! I think the biggest threat to your plan/deck is someone going "red deck with lots of haste" and slamming something deeply unpleasant at you before you can enchant it. Getting your "you may enchant at instant speed" is probably going to be the best use of that tutor, if you find the tutor. Go-wide tokens might also be a problem because you can't enchant them all. Great video! EDIT: I ended up cutting the vampires and Gift of Fangs, went with Clawing Torment to depower and hurt my enemy's creatures and Ossification to remove real problems, playset of Spiteful Hexmages and Spellbook Vendors, some Coppercoat Vanguards for protection and some Slumbering Keepguards for card selection and threat while being a 1-drop, and then Archon of the Wild Rose as a game-ender of an alternate win-con. 2-3 enchanted creatures with an Archon out is flying lethal.
Most of those cards were considered. For Lotho, The One Ring, Swiftfoot and Greater Auramancy were left out because they are all "too good" which I sometimes purposely leave out, to give players more ideas. Markov Purifier is just a good catch I hadn't considered. That's actually really good.
@@ElementHobbies That's entirely fair, there's a lot of cards that just seem to end up in every EDH deck that stop being interesting to talk about. I know you started specifically omitting Sol Ring due to success with one of your videos (yay!). The One Ring is definitely getting to be up there in terms of "this goes in every deck", just subject to budget restrictions. It could get worse after the upcoming reprints as there's more of the thing. If it gets banned in Modern (as some are calling for) then it's probably showing up in even more EDH decks. Happy to see more brews! Not sure what you have on the stack, but I'd love to see Kellen, the Fae-Blooded. I know he's "yet another Boros Voltron/equipment commander" but as a tutor in the command zone and with potential for go-wide or humans synergies I think there's a lot of ways to make him interesting.
On Land Destruction: Terra Eternal if you can't get Equinox. I added some Stax effects to the deck also to prolong the suffering I got the idea after I initially built Eriette with Yenna as Lieutenants in my Gitrog and Thalia deck, it was very fun having Gitrog and Thalia slow down the game while Eriette shared the aura's and Yenna doubled them but now I am just trying Eriette Orzhov :P
I would recommend to run Forbidden Orchard as a way to give your opponents creatures if they don't have any. Plus, it's a great color fixer as well, and you can make it a little more political by giving opponents the 1/1 so they can block and you can keep your opponent's creatures on the board longer as you drain them out.
Ugh, Forbidden Orchard was probably an oversight. Though sometimes I do leave out cards like that because I assume every other decklist will present it, and you get more value from my video without a bunch of cards you already know will work. But either way, ya forbidden orchard is great here.
How about Wound Reflection over Sanguine Bond and Vito? With Eriette's end step trigger Wound reflection seems like it would have more impact. Also, i'm limiting the cards that force an opponent to sacrifice a creature because you don't want them to just sac a creature that has one of your auras on it.
Wound Reflection is and all-star in my build, stack it so Eriette triggers first and watch the realization settle in, also super leathal with Sanguine bond out as it triggers of Eriette so Reflection sees that life loss as well, removed a few problem players sitting in their pillow fort
I built mine with recurring/alt cast auras and pillowfort cards (Aurification, Norn's Annex, Darien [King of Kjeldor] to name a few) For my protection, I run Blessing of Leeches/Soul Channeling among some others. Astarion, the Decadent also does a lot of work in mine. I like how you have yours, too. Lot of similar support cards I run, lol
I had thought about more pillow fort stuff, but I decided to (hoped to) just rely on Eriette herself to stop everything. Blessing/Soul Channeling were just outside for me, cards 105 and 106.
Unholy indenture is funny and with the fallout series you can have overencumbered, sanguine bond and exquisite blood is an infinite combo Pariah and Phyrexian vindicator gives you indestructible
If someone declares an attack on you with a creature, will attaching Detainment Spell with it's activated agility to that creature stop the already declared attack?
Can't say in EVERY situation, but once a creature is declared as an attacker it's attacking. To stop it you would need to do something before attackers are declared.
