Hey there!
The day has finally come that we can really start to work on the inside of our Van! First things first: we had to decide with what material we want to insulate the Van. There are plenty of options but we went for the most common one to use here in Germany called Armaflex XG. In this video we are going to explain you why we chose to insulate the van with Armaflex XG, and why it is super beginner friendly!

You’re speaking my language and answering my questions! Thank you for the video 🙏🏻There is another common brand - KFlex - from Home Depot, in the states.. I’m curious how the two compare.. if anyone has any experience with that.

Hey guys thank you so much for this video me and my partner just bought our first van and busy starting the process here in the Netherlands. Wanted to know did you do the whole van including floor in armaflex? And the supports in the roof are thet insulated?

And how do you feel about not sound deadening more than the armaflex now that you have lived in the van? would you have done it differently and put in more sound deadening if you were to build the van now?:)

Hey Isabella! We would do it exactly the same way next time. We are so happy with the insulation of the van and how cool it stays in the heat of Fuerteventura. Even other vanlifers who are entering the van are surprise s by the temperature inside the van. And also additional sound deadening is not necessary. We can’t hear any metal noises while driving or much from the sounds outside. As said in the beginning. We would do exactly the same thing on the next build

What did you use to clean the metal before attaching the Armaflex?:)

Oh and we just used mirror/glass cleaning soap to take away the dirt and dust 😊 we hope our answers were helpful 🙂

Did you use 19mm ? How do you like the Armaflex?

Hi Robert. Yes we used the 19 mm and te thinest one on te ríes and tight spots. We loved and it's so easy to work with and works really good.

Is armaflex toxin free? moisture resistance of some sort?

Hey Sue! Yes Armaflex is toxine free - but it’s not ecological/environmental friendly. It is also a gap-free insulation system with closed cells. That means it is not absorbing any water. For that you’ll not need to add a vapor barrier as you would have to do it when insulating with wool. There are just different categories off quality. The cheapest one (ace) is suppose to smell like plastic. We went for the second option (Xg) which didn’t smell at all and had the best price/performance ratio. You think the AF could be better then XG? I just want to order and I think to order AF.

@@andya1976m i think XG is the one recommended for van insulation. We ended up using it for our van, a year after I commented on this, we are currently in the Sahara desert and no complaints with our insulation

@@andya1976m Hi, I am currently fitting out my van and working with Armaflex UK directly. I have been given the AF as this is the anti-microbial version. if your budget can get the AF it is the optimal for van life
