I just loved John’s search for “street cred” with the Harley, and then goes on to reference jumping off the swing bridge!!! That really is street cred, I’m sure. We used to do the same but it was jumping off a railway bridge into the sea to avoid the train! The 70’s were great, eh?

Once you get into Harley’s there’s nothing else that lopes along like them ,and the 1340 evo engine is a masterpiece.

I have a beaut 2002 metallic green Fatty ,loaded with chrome.Apart from riding it and when stuck in traffic cars next to me sometimes wind down their windows to talk to me about it ,i get a kick of just parking it up and experiencing the people of all ages that want to stop and talk about it. Yes i reckon its the coolest Bike on the planet .

The first time I saw a Fat Boy it was brand new and parked on South Beach Dr in Miami. The wind was blowing warm, the sky was could and the neon lighting was flickering off the bike. My friends and I fell in love.

ANOTHER wonderful video. Thanks to all involved. As you and others have said, it's ALL about that engine and the Harley 1340 EVO is one of the all time great motorbike engines. That engine was best used (IMHO) in the FXR series bikes. I ran a '92 FXRS for 35,000 miles and it never missed a beat - still going today but sadly not in my hands. A proper 'European' type bike that handled far better than you would ever believe that a Harley could, All that I did was change the tyres, braided brake hoses, sort the exhaust/Dynojet kit and I had one great motorbike. The full rubber mount engine shook all over the place at tick-over but was so smoooooooth once running along. Laughably easy to service, plugs/filters sat looking at you, hydraulic tappets and I only touched the belt drive when I changed the tyres. If you guys were shocked at how good the Fat Boy was then you're in for a real eye opener if you get your hands on an FXR series bike. Recommended and NOT to be confused with the later Dyna-Glide series which I didn't like at all. AND....I was in that pub last June, a lovely place for a pint.👍

Now own a 19 Roadking special, and a 2008 Xr1200. Great bikes, in such different ways. Wont be selling either of mine ever. Great review chaps....safe rides, to you all.🇬🇧🏁🍻

I love the Fatboy HD with the wonderful 1450 cc engine. I recognise a Fatboy always from the front wheel. So special and never seen on other bikes. Owning a 2018 Indian Roadmaster I know what you mean by the feeling when riding a bike with a lot of torque. Yes Torque will be the key word in the future, that's right. Keep on doing what you do, I love the Lemon Drizzle Gang. Greetings from Belgium.

Very interesting Mike, and very interesting fact about the name and the bombs. I hadn't heard that before. I think I've always been a bit of a snob about 'Hardly Drivables' having always had proper bikes with proper brakes and that could go round corners, but since evolving into someone who now prefers my '77 Guzzi California now to any of the Guzzi Lemans mk1s or the Ducati 900 monsters i've had, I can now really see the appeal of the fat boy. I really love the riding position of my mildy tuned (a bit like Dave's) t3 Cali', i love the heel and toe change, the footboards and the incredibly comfy seat and pull back bars that put your hands and wrists and therefore elbows and shoulders in a really neutral relaxed position. Up to 80mph there's nothing more comfy, but at 100mph the riding position is a real chore. What i'm really interested in is yours and Dave's opinion of how the fatboy compares to Dave's t3 California, I've no doubt the engine is a joy as I love riding the low down torque on my cali but that Guzzi is also just as happy to rev to 7k+ and about 3 decades ago I had a go on a girl's 1200 sportster and expected to hate it but as you described, it was 'an event' and i got off it smiling from ear to ear, but are the fatboy's brakes up to the job? It did look like it turned surprisingly well and cornered well in that shot where one of you turned right onto the bridge and lent over at about 45 degrees and gunned it. How does the braking and handling compare to the cali?

Minds are like parachutes. They work best when open. I’ve ridden since 1968 on all brands and I love them all. They all had something to offer. I’ve had a 2001 Harley Electraglide since new and my wife and I have had some great trips on it. I had a 1995 Harley Softail Custom that we traveled on also. I had a Goldwing before that, and we enjoyed it. I wave at everyone on the road. I’m 70 and I ride what I want. Including my beloved 1986 BMW R80RT. Try a Harley. You don’t have to be a 1 percenter to enjoy one. BTW: My daughter’s favorite bike is the Fat Boy, which fits her perfect. Nice review.😎👍

I've had lots of Harleys including a number of Evo. They would be my favourite other than that they come from an era where the speed limit was 55mph and you feel like you're thrashing them if you attempt to cruise along at, say, 80mph for any length of time. Right now I have an 80 inch Shovel for Sunday cruises here and there, and a later TC for long-distance riding.

The original Fat Boy is indeed a beautiful looking bike however in my opinion, the 1999-2002 FXDX Dyna Sport is the coolest...twin discs, adjustable suspension front and rear, it even handles like a regular motorbike.
@waveydavey750
@waveydavey750 Год назад
Yes Dale, I have a hankering for a FXDX (Superglide Sport) too, unfortunately prices are rising as everyone wants to recreate the one in Sons of Anarchy TV series, with T bars etc, not my cup of tea. There's one in a local dealer so maybe we can feature it some time on the channel? Dave from the LDG

@@waveydavey750 i'm sure that if you ride it, you will love it. They will probably never be cheaper than they are now. Mine is now 117 cu in with a Sputhe stabiliser kit.
