Fun fact: The german word for porcupine is Stachelschwein. Amazingly enough, these words even rhyme. Curious for more and got the time? Thorn or spike is Stachel, pig translates to Schwein. DFTBA everyone :)
The Dutch word is similair too: Stekelvarken. Although it does not rhyme I do think it's funny how these words come about. (Spike is Stekel and Pig is Varken)
Kimosabe’s cute little sounds got me thru weeks and weeks of multiple daily injections and occasionally stressful treatments, I loop his video and listen to it to forget the needles and anxiety... he is my little hero 💕
Wow I've spent the last hour looking at Baby Yoda memes and was like "if I don't step away from this overwhelming cuteness, my heart WILL explode and I'm gonna die" just to come on to RU-vid and see THIS adorable little bugger. RIP me.
All of you who say that he is annoying and talk too much need to listen more, he is actually explaining about the animal and in which conditions it is living. I see many people judging that it should be free in the wild while not actually listening to the guy in front of you, plus all of what he is saying is extremely interesting and gives insight on the animal itself.
I LOVE porcupines! I LOVE the sounds they make to! Speaking of porcupines, I LOVE to collect soft fluffy fur coats that stick up like a porcupine and are nice and soft as well. I call these fur coats fuzzy porcupines.
First Brazilian Porcupine I saw was about a week ago. His name is Rico from the Cincinnati Zoo and he was eating corn on the cob. They are the cutest animals and I think their nose looks like pink felt nice and soft.
Wait. No! You said that the porcupine quills evolved separately and function differently, but you didn't explain how! I need to know what are the different functions of the quills!
Oh gosh I love that big guy so much. Also I didn't think the well-timed Yoshi noise would be the thing that made me smile the most in this video, but here we are!
Hank, this has made me feel so much better. Being British, my life is now significantly less happy than it was 24 hours ago, and I want to thank you for making this at the time I needed it most.
Kemo has been on my home screen for a few years now because he is exactly as weird and cute and unsettling as you say. The noises he makes are basically the best thing ever
Can we do these longer than 12 months? These are my favourite Vlogbrothers videos that you guys have ever done. Including the "EVERYTHING IS CHEMICALS!" rant video. Which was previously my favourite and far less educational.
That is certainly an adorable noise. The Lyre Bird still has the number one spot for awesome noises animals are capable of making. What that bird can do is insane.
I just got my pin of this adorable porcupine which is awesome, but I’d love to see the other designs and know what rarity of pin we got. They weren’t shown in this video like usual.
Mine's light pink, the one on the left of the card it came with. If it's like last month's, the common one is on the left or the card, the uncommon one is on the right, and the rare isn't pictured (usually sparkly)
OMG, I know Jessi! We went to school together. Also, I've worked with a few prehensile-tailed porcupines, and YES. Their sounds are just about the cutest thing ever. They're nocturnal, so if you wake them up in the day they make those cute annoyed sounds like "nooo, i was sleeeeeeping, leave me alooooone." One of my favorite animals to work with.
OMG ! I was just binging porcupine videos because I went through the same amazement with their noises and the scishow vid was one of them and then u post this!!
Where I live the North American porcupine is quite common, and they are not that rare to see in the wild because... well, porcupine don't care! Since their quills provide good protection they don't need to run away, they just waddle slowly away. But when they get into a tree they can really zoom with their curved feet and claws made for climbing!
