Imagine a future with no borders between countries, in which cultures are deeply mixed, What language would we speak? 🌎🤷‍♂️
I just arrived in the beautiful country of Lebanon ❤️ 🇱🇧 and their youth feels like the youth of earth's future, let me explain.
People in Lebanon 🇱🇧 have a very unique way of speaking in which they switch from Arabic to English and to French constantly during their speech 🙌 it’s really crazy! And very special to hear.
Some places like in Latin America adopt a couple of words from English because of pop culture, but in Lebanon is really something else 😃, it feels like an entirely new way of communicating, a way of the future.
When I asked why they do this, they explained that most people speak at least two of these three languages, French 🥖because of past French control of the land, English 💂‍♀️because it’s the language of the internet and the movies, and Arabic 🇱🇧because is what the previous generations of Lebanese spoke. Plus they learn all three at school.
But how do they decide when to switch🤷‍♂️, well, it’s simple, they switch when the other language has a more accurate way of describing what they are trying to say!.
For example, when discussing something emotional, they tend to go to Frech, when in need of specific words, or when discussing history they go to Arabic, when describing technology they tend to use English, but of course these are examples, it depends on the person and the conversation sometimes is just a word in one language and then back to the previous one, and sometimes is full sentences or minutes in one language and then switch. It’s awesome!❤️🙌
I just found it extremely interesting and I can definitely see this being the case in the future for many countries, especially as we are increasingly connected.
Remember: If you want to learn any language! I 💯recommend Pimsleur courses, I will leave a link in the comments for a 7-day free trial, It’s what I use and it’s awesome! (and it helps me keep making these videos 😃💪)

@@phillymusclelover well arabic was also forced on most "arab" countries of today (the levant and north africa) so should they also drop it and go back to the languages they spoke (like aramaic and syriac and amazigh?)

@@phillymusclelover and your point is? Lebanese get educated in French and English. Many of them feel closer to Mediterranean culture than they do to Arab culture, and that's how it is. I got more things in common with a Greek or French person than I do with a Saudi guy (with all due respect to Saudis of course - their country is much more advanced than ours right now, props to them) but that's how it is. Why do you want to define me as an arab and impose arab culture and language on me when it is not how I define myself. There might be some classicism still, but that doesn't mean that speaking french and english is wrong. I define Lebanese the way I speak it with my friends and family, and the way I speak it is by mixing all 3 languages together. Deal with it

Check out Algeria (Western North Africa). You will have one channel that plays the news in 3-4 different languages. (Kabyle), Arabic, French, and English) People flip back and forth in 1-4 languages in on conversation. Pretty cool and normal.

I agree, lol 😅 Also, we have also have Portuguese / Spanish, etc. words in there, too. Like toro (bull), batata (potatoes), etc. for example. Btw, Alan, you look a lot like my Lebanese maternal uncle.

Why you think that??
@donut9719
@donut9719 Год назад
Not exactly...If you know English, French, or Arabic you will be fine. It is not like they only know specific words in the language. A lot of people are bilingual, and a good chunk trilingual.
@zeitreisender4556
@zeitreisender4556 Год назад
@@AlansTheory Cause, they don't speak any of the languages fluently, it's a mix and it's also different from the standard form of Arabic or French, people of the mainland find it struggling to understand.
@AlansTheory
@AlansTheory Год назад
@@zeitreisender4556 You are just inventing information 🤷‍♂. Every one of these people is fluent in Arabic and Either French, English or both. The reason why they switch languages has nothing to do with "not being fluent".
@chatgpt
@chatgpt Год назад
@@AlansTheory we are fluent in all 3 languages. The thing is that some words in a certain language sometimes come easier to us because they're, for instance, shorter to say, or pinpoint a thought better than they would in another language, so we just use the word that best fits our thoughts at that precise moment. Cheers, and thanks for the vid!
