I own many rifles that range from bone stock to custom built. My go-to deer rifle is a B-14 HMR. The Bergara trigger is my absolute favorite unit of any rifle setup that I own. That INCLUDES several rifles with Trigger Tech triggers, and a couple Timney units as well. The stock B-14 trigger, in my humble opinion is the best factory trigger in the game. Beats most if not all aftermarket drop-in units. I’ve done nothing to the stock trigger aside from lowering the pull to just under 2-1/2 pounds. Overall the B-14 HMR is a STUD of a rifle for less than $1K. Love the dang thing.

I recently purchased a Bergara HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor and I'm extremely happy with it! It did require good barrel break-in but was shooting close to half inch groups after 50 rounds or so, using my own load development. The action and trigger are excellent and I love the stock.

Bought a savage model 12fv in 6.5 creedmoor. After it was on paper and zeroed, 7 shots in the same hole. The bergara has a nicer stock, feels better in the hand than the savage. But i wanted to buy American. Bergara is made in Spain. I loved my savage so much i bought the exact same one a second time. For less than what you'd pay for one made in Spain. Half inch groups are the norm with my rifle. Not being critical, the bergara is a great rifle. But its a little more than double the price of the savage. I have a true sniper stock ordered from mdt. Its all aluminium and weighs about 3 pounds. 399 bucks. Still 150 less than the bergara. Still American made. Just my two pennies worth.

My 6.5 PRC MPR is hands down the finest rifle I've ever owned, and I'd be ashamed to admit what I paid for a couple of them. It's not that they've lost their accuracy, they're still 1/2 MOA rifles all day long. The difference is I'm 74 now and the MPR is about 8 pounds all dressed up for the dance. My custom AR in 6.5 Grendel goes 10.5 and my M-40A5 in 300 WSM is pushing 15! Any of the three will shoot the nuts off a gnat if I do my job. The problem is moving from point A to point B without hyperventilating. I'll take my MPR each and every time.

I've been wanting a 1,000 yard rifle for some time now, just to test myself and see how well I shoot. During basic I qualified expert shooting at various ranges from 25 yards (or meters) to 400, that was in 1984 so it's been a few days and I feel fairly confident that the silhouettes could fall with a stiff breeze, to be honest I don't know. That was with standard iron sites on an M-16 and it never quite satisfied my curiosity. Needless to say I just love shooting and the smell of spent rounds in the brisk Autumn mornings, or any morning for that matter! That being said, I only recently started hearing about these rifles but was well on the way to buying a Remington 700 SPS, wasn't quite sure of the caliber since I will be a greenhorn into this sport, have been looking at various reviews on the 6.5 Cr. or maybe even .338 Lapua. I'm not a hunter though I have no issues as it needs to be done or else shit would get real. Any advice from anyone reading this would be well received and appreciated! P.S. I'm a Texan and therefore am starting to have an attitude issue with wild boar!

John C. Well for starters stay away from the Remington SPS....the quality of their rifles has went to shit. If you can find one that was built back in the 2000s then you're in good shape...I have a BDL Stainless synthetic in 7mm Rem. Mag that shoots just about any ammo I feed it under 3/4" groups with the best being right at 1/2" -factory ammo I might add. Anyways go with a Browning or Savage also Winchester still makes a good rifle. Good luck!!!

BA reloaded unfortunately yes. I bought an HMR and wanted to love it. I was a sucker for the stock. I could not get it to shoot consistent. One day it was pretty good then the next it was flyer city. So I thought I must of got a bad one. Instead of sending it back I just bought another and decided I would keep the best one. After trying both there was 0 difference in them so I sold both. My Tikka was just more accurate after load development and break in. If you are happy with moa then the Bergara is fine. After I work up loads I expect more. I’m not judging the HMR to hard as I have been more than happy with several Savage 12 s (fv snd lrp) Savage 10s, rpr, and Howa hcr and my Tikka Tac. I was more excited about the Bergara HMRs than any of the rifles I bought. It was an ok shooter but it was not consistent out past 750 for me where all my other rifles have been. I’m not knocking the HMR because now it’s dropped in price and can be bought right. On the other hand my friend has a premier series and it’s a death ray. Super accurate.

I would agree, but my father just picked up the bergara b-14 hmr, and man it’s an amazing rifle smoother than he’s tikka t3 and also groups tighter. I was also about too get one but then I seen that savage put out a new model “110 high country” so I got that instead, it also is an amazing rifle.

What the hell screws to adjust the back stock, why not have a simple adjustment, instead of unscrewing the screws to adjust the back stock, or even better slide ons at different thickness, just like the old days when people customize their own sniper rifles, cheek stock as well, simple slide ons and what about the trigger, adjustable or not ?

Most accurate in that price range? Not in my experience. The last 3 Tikkas I've bought have all been sub moa with factory ammo out of the box. I don't shoot a lot so I'm ecstatic with these results. My Bergara Hunter in 7mm,08, I never found what it liked. It was getting expensive trying to figure it out.

NO, it is not the most accurate rifle!! It is the least accurate rifle I ever had (HMR 300 WM). I will have to replace the factory barrel with a custom one or will just trade it in for another rifle (probably second option since finding a good gunsmith is hard these days). Trigger is not good and the lowest trigger pull is 3.2lb. Feeding rail has a sharp edge such that every ejected brass case gets deep scratches. Bedding in my HMR rifle is a joke. Recoil lug hole in the stock is much larger than the recoil lug thickness. Calling Bergara "custom guns" is a BS and highly unethical advertising . Any of my other rifles (some of them paid used $150) have invented accuracy for my Bergara. Heavy bull barrel in 300 WM that overheats after 7 shots is not a good barrel. Haha..and you call Bergara "custom rifle".
@CodeOfArms
@CodeOfArms 3 года назад
Sorry to hear that was your experience, sounds like you got a Monday gun! This has not been our experience we have 3 of them 1 in 308 2 in 6.5 creed. All have shot between 3/4 to 1 Moa. In our opinion is a great rifle for the value.
@danijeldjukovic2156
@danijeldjukovic2156 3 года назад
@@CodeOfArms Mine is going to a gunsmith for service. Since the action is nice (except that brass comes out scratched likely from the feeding rump and that should be easy fix) I will use it for a custom rifle. With proper bedding the original stock should work well with any heavy custom barrel. It will also need a better trigger. The lowest pull on mine is 3lb. As I am concerned, the only good part of this rifle is the action. Everything else is just a hype.

Savage will be the most accurate out of the box.. for the price. If I want to spend $1700 for a gun, I would have it built FOR ME and my specs, not the factory specs. I already have 3 custom rigs., and have less than $700 each in them. They are all varmint rigs, but also all are bench rest accurate.

@@pickin4you what is one of your 700 dollar custom rigs? i dont see how youre getting an aluminum sub chassis stock with a high quality trigger, fluted bolt, and a barrel with a sub moa guarantee for $700
@pickin4you
@pickin4you 5 лет назад
@@Polskmofo Why does a BR grade rifle need a fluted bolt?? It doesn't. My rigs, all of them are the same except the barrels. My 22-250 is built on a Remington 700 action. The action is trued and blue printed. Shilen trigger. Bedded in the 40XB stock, and has a Shilen barrel. With MY handloads, it is capable of SUB 1/8" groups. I did the stock work and provided the gun, and the rifle builder did th action work, cut the chamber and fitted the barrel and bedded the gun for $350. Now this rifle was built about 20 years ago, but still, a New 40B BR back then was over $1K. I only had $250 in the rifle used, since all was going to be replaced except the action and stock. I know everyone doubts my statements, but I know a really good custom rifle builder that works sometimes for his repeat customers for less than others. My first rifle he built with all the same specs except it had a Hart barrel in .243, and I did the stock work on that one as well, and it was built for the same price. Later I had him build be a .223 on a 722 action and again, all the same specs, with a shilen barrel and it had the same heavy taper barrel, but I set it in an older 700 varmint stock. This .223 has the factory trigger in it that my smith worked down to 8oz. which was too light for a varmint gun, but a few turns on the screw and brought it up to 14 oz. All 3 of these rifles shoot beyond what anyone else thinks. I have had doubters, on gun forums, and that talk the same as you until i show the groups I have shot with all of these rifles, then i do not hear another word. I know how to shoot and have shot varmint rifles since I was very young... Maybe 8 or 10 years old, and shooting long range. I can shoot, and do so better than about 50% of regular competition shooters. They are the ones who cannot believe what i say until they see my groups. I live in Ohio, and personally know the president of the OBRSA, Ohio Bench Rest Shooters Association. He saw some of my groups, and my cousins groups, and he said we would clean up at their shoots, because those guys who do it every weekend cannot shoot like we can. So I am sorry if you still do not believe me, but this is all true. I saved money on all of my builds by buying used rifles, since all I needed was the action and maybe the stock. All of the actions were trued and blueprinted, so they were as straight as a custom action that costs about $2000. Again, you do nopt need and I would NEVER want an aluminum chassis stock. My walnut stocks with pillars and full bedding under the action, and they have not changed POI since they were sighted in many many years ago. Too many of you spend way too much on your equipment. Yes its fancy, and its expensive, but it will not do any better than what I have 3 with a total cost for all of them, less than one of the others.
@Polskmofo
@Polskmofo 5 лет назад
@@pickin4you 20 years ago, you know a gunsmith that works for you for cheap, you did the stock work yourself, used rifles, walnut stock... yes now i believe that you have a $700 custom rifle. and yes i know you dont need fancy shit for a good shooting rifle. all you need is a good barrel and a decent trigger but most people dont want to buy a used rifle in a boring wood stock and then spend months sending it back and forth to gunsmiths to make it into a good shooting "custom" rifle. and most people dont want to do all the research involved in figuring out which components they want to buy to have a custom rifle made for them when they can buy one thats already put together at the factory and shoots sub moa out of the box.
