Housing affordability is a huge problem. Whats the answer? Building More but smaller homes or building larger homes multi family homes? These homes aren't too bad in comparison to some others but are they the answer to the affordable housing crisis?
A friend of mine bought something like this in Princeton Texas. He paid about 230k at 4.25 percent FHA loan. inside its not bad but the rooms are kind of small. Compared to what homes in the area are going for its a great price. The time to buy was 3 years go because we got ours for 250k and pay the same as he's going to be paying for a house half the lot half the house.
Yeah, the time to buy was always yesterday. As long as they aren't overextending themselves on the payment and didn't make a rush purchase, they should be ok.
Honestly, the ones with garages look very similar to very old homes in the Midwest, very close together, but have everything you need. The only thing that is different is the lot sizes are small and this neighborhood doesn’t look as walkable. I don’t see a problem with them at all honestly, everyone deserves to own their home.
I would say that these homes are built with nothing more than builder-grade materials that won't last more than 15 years. One strong storm or tornado and these houses are done. These are just ugly, have zero curb appeal and will be difficult to resell.
Gosh, remember when we in San Antonio raked "Rayco" homes over the coals for being shoddy? I do hope these are solid enough to last, its not afforable if you have to rebuild it or pay out the nose to keep it up because of corners cut.
I will agree that they are pretty plain and builder grade. Realistically, any home can be torn down with a storm, especially a tornado. They are purpose built to be inexpensive during a time when houses are very expensive. So yes, we have all seen prettier houses, but they were also much more expensive than these. Any home can become run down if they aren't properly maintained or taken care of. Thanks for leaving a comment.
Yes, that's one of the problems that you will have with a single car garage and driveway. Street parking is an option but not one that I like. It's definitely something that you will have to think about if you have a driving age kid coming up.
If you want a new home in this area it doesn't leave you with alot of choices if you don't want hoa. They really aren't that bad for the most part though.
