Fantastic having your dad along for a while, those are simple little memories that money just cannot buy - at some point in the future both of you are going to start a conversation with 'remember when we' - golden.
Students!!!! Hmm! as a Lincoln born and bred resident i could write you another video about them. however it has created a new resurgence for the city i better be quiet :) thank for this video. i remember the Christmas market shutting back then on the threat of torrential snow, that never happened. now this year 2023 it is shut for good they say. Take care Jay
Ash is hard on vacuum cleaners. The particles are very small. So small the vortex action of the Dyson does not trap them. The ash will clog up your filter very quickly. Dyson's usually have a warning in the box somewhere not to use it for ash.
Robbielad! ANOTHER great vid...thanks so much! Looking forward to more of your Lincoln exploits. The interior of the Cathedral was a nice touch. Keep up the great work, and as always, thanks for sharing with us! Crank on... J.
Robbie, great videos, you really capture the atmosphere of the places you visit with your filming, whether canal or town. I also really like the way you include the lovely sunsets whenever you come across them.
Thanks Mike that’s really nice to hear as that’s what I always aim for. It does take weeks sometimes to get the light I want but when it does it’s worth it. In no rush to get around the system anyway. 8^)
Yes keep thinking on it Colin and you will no doubt come across opportunities that will lead towards your goal. It’s not for everyone this lifestyle and it is quite hard to do at times but if you want it badly enough then it can be yours! 8^)
Robbie Cumming we are planning Robbie so we know one day we will do this. A couple of hurdles to overcome. Your vlogs really help making decisions. Thank you
Another great vlog. Thanks Robbie. Love your channel. Is your music available for download anywhere? Please don’t leave it so long till your next video 👍
andrew murch cheers Andrew - I’m glad you like it! Read the description for the links to Soundcloud where you will find most for streaming or download. I’ll make more but only when I have time/electricity Cheers 8^)
Be careful using your nice new Dyson for cleaning up your ash it has away of burning out it's motors. Great videos by the way and what an incredible journey you're on.
Hi Robbie, your videos are pure relaxation and fun, especially at the moment and you are good at choosing the perfect music too. I love the ones with you and your dad , you are so happy together! Heartwarming. I smile in anticipation of watching. If you know of a nice friendly male retired boater looking for a "girl" friday let me know.I'd love the life afloat. Too late for me to do it on my own so I can pretend [with the video trips] I'm travelling on your boat in the warmth of my cosy house!
I just raised a nice IPA in your honor. It's been a long day so I thought I'd indulge myself. I raised my glass glass and thought of my Friend across the pond. Wishing you well Robbie. :)
Thanks for watching Vikkie, yes it’s really one person in particular who seems to be a bit of a worry guts. I tried to reassure him that I could help with bringing more people to the area but he thought I was some kind of investigative journalist that was going to somehow expose the trust in someway but that’s not what I’m about! Oh well, their loss.
Robbie Cumming it's probably because there's lots of journalists training at the uni constantly looking for stories (seriously!) 😄😄 Also the Media studies course there was always full to the brim with people.. and the Lincolnshire Echo building is right in front of them too or at least used to be lol
Hi Robbie, fantastic video man, really enjoy your watching all your videos and i appreciate how much work you put into them. they are generally informative and quality, btw will pubs of the week be returning in future videos?. All the best for the future man.
Hey thanks, glad you like them! Yes don’t worry, I was starting to feel forced into doing them every time just for the sake of it and knew I also had lots of other stuff to cover. Pub of the Week special in the next video! 8^)
Captain Robbie! Superb intro and another great video, really enjoyed it and loved the Dirty Harry moment with the Dyson :-) Keep up the amazing work. See you soon!
👍🏼 nice 1 Robbie, really liked your video. Lincoln is a nice place, worked there a lot over the years. It is a pity the harbour master wasn’t interested as other watchers said, you would think they would like to promote their mariners. Anyway their loss. Enjoy yourself and looking forward to the next film. 👍🏼👍🏼😜
Apparently it's pronounced "Erry wash". It's junction off the Trent scared the bejeezus out of me as my experienced boating supervisor disappeared to the toilet as I approached it. It seemed huge to me and the signage was small. I tossed a coin and luckily took the correct direction towards Nottingham :) Nice update, Robbie, have fun.
And the Chapter House isn't for Archbishops - there are only 2 of them - York and Canterbury! But a splendid space in a spectacular building. Prefer this to the BBC programmes just aired.
Hi Robbie, Yet another great video... Its a good trip down to Boston and worth doing, but I think crossing the wash at this time of year in a narrowboat is probably a "no no" ... Carl & Gemma
Hey guys good to hear from you!! Yes I am fully prepared to have to turn around. What do you think about the Sleaford navigation and navigable drains or are those off limits to nbs? 8^)
Hi Robbie, As far as we know, it is usually group thing, organized party. Late spring sort of time. Due to water levels and weed. You can read a bit about it here. www.keeping-up.co.uk/Canals/2006Boston/2006Drains.htm
Great as usual. Are you still working, if so is it full time or part time. think i remember from a previous vid you was something to do with garden products.I never realised how hard it is to do a vlog and make it look good. i had a little go the other day at work and what a twat i looked and sounded when i played it back. total respect man.
Ah well at least you had a go! I’ve been editing for about 12 years, it’s a hobby that I fit in around my job which is 9-5 atm as we ramp up for the crucial spring sales period, but in less busy times it’s more like 3 days a week. 8^)
Hi Robbie were you in Worsley last week my wife was holding our boat with the boat Hook she thought she reconsidered you was it you , near the Premier shop you were wearing all black.
Hey Robbie I guess your cranking it to Boston by now dude , thanks for the catchup in Lincoln sorry we didn't get in the brewer for that beer ... if you don't brave the treacherous sandbanks of the wash and head back this way give us a bell , got you a prezzie for the boat but didn't get chance to get over . ✌
Love the speed limit sign. Didn't know you had a speedometer on you boat. Do they have cops with radar guns. They gonna chase after you on jetskis, if your speeding. Lol
I do have one but I can’t get it to work! Yeah it seems to be just a suggestion, no one’s going to actually catch you and fine you or anything. I hope 8^o
Hey Christopher thanks for watching. In winter, in between cruising and editing these videos I work full time (from home) go out exploring as much as possible, try to find interesting pubs and people and oh yeah watch Netflix! Maintenance I don’t often get to but there is always something! Currently I have a water leak so taken two days off to sort out. It can be more stressful than people realise and very lonely but that’s the life I’ve chosen! 8^)
Found it Robbie. Guess what, I only go across pelham bridge to the shop in the winter, sometimes alongside the river. I thought? your boat name looked familiar. Bad memory but very few moving boats as you know, so if I see one I do look. Anyway, while you were on your way to stamp end I passed you in the car on the bank ha ha. If it had been summer, would have possibly stopped for a waffle at the lock.
My next doors mate has brought some moorings just before Saxilby where the petrol station used to be if you need some free moorings on your travels. He has a narrow boat and is good friends with the lock keepers on the Trent. Ask for Tom Saxilby. Only came back because I found an old lawnmower engine I connected to a 12volt alternator for a mate that did off roading and thought might be a good idea to charge your battery bank without starting the boat engine.
Fine videos Robbie. As for the state that those facilities are left in, symptomatic of the way this nation sees things...selfish with an " I want that but I won't give anything back" attitude. Here ends my rant!!! . Narrowboat is great ....keep enjoying the whole life aboard
Like for the GOT reference. We are re watching the first 7 seasons, in prep for season 8. In between all that gratuitous sex & violence, I switch to your channel! :)
Hey Robbie, love your channel here across the big pond, got a question for you? How many canals can you see the nuclear powerplant from, or how many nuclear powerplants are situated near canals? I've seen cooling towers in several of your videos as well as videos on other channels such as Narrowboat Holly, Foxes Afloat, Boating Beyond and Guy Martin.
I’m sorry Gregg I can’t tell from the pictures but cooling towers don’t automatically mean nuclear power. Take a look at this map although it doesn’t show canals and rivers it shows where they are located assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/48352/1138-map-nuclear-power-stations-uk.pdf The closest nuclear power station to a navigable river would be Berkeley in Gloucestershire, but as far as I’m aware narrowboats aren’t permitted/encouraged to travel that far out into tidal waters
:D Me neither as I need the green blazer to put 'em on: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dfDD7dX3l14.html AP at his finest back in the 90s. Cheers Robbie.
Ha ha! I remember there was a special VHS presentation pack that included a blazer badge and tie. But it’s ok as I’ve just seen on ebay that some idiot is selling unofficial hoodies with a screenprinted badge on (this country).
Ahhhhh Robbie; an aversion to Signs EH?? ..... Health&Safety are Head-Hunting at present .... Must have Pychopathic tendencies and the ability to; bully-by-signage at 'every' given opportunity :-)
GREAT video Robbie!! It must of been fun to have your Dad with you. If not I'm sorry you had to put up with the old geezer...... lol..... But by the look on your face I think you had fun.... I hate people who thinks there better then thou. Makes me mad @ them. I put my pants on like they do every morning, one leg in @ a time. If your battery is going out, consider a lithium one. Might cost a little more but you get your money back in they last longer. Like what's in a tesla. There great for solar power. Have a good keep CRANKING on, Chris from Missouri
Yeah I usually always ask permission and inevitably come across a great deal of people who just don’t want to get involved which is fair enough. Although some I suspect must have something to hide!!
Most Cathederals are absolutely AMAZING!! .... Just trying to get your head round the Craftsmanship required blows your mind .... Makes you think! .... is there something 'in' this Religion thing-a-me-bob :-)
Hi Judi, my boat just isn’t powerful enough to enjoy the trip and can’t afford pilot for just me, so with no other boats around so I will just go back to Lincoln where I need to be anyway to get a train etc etc #life
yes i think you can cross the wash dont know about engine size. you have to pay for a pilot (think its his job title) you do it in 2 half's going so far on 1 tide then grounding and wait for next one. maybe not done in winter not sure
Looks like there are a few options but I’ll have to ask a local expert. In the meantime have a look at this map - shows all the waterways and how they connect: www.waterways.org.uk/pdf/wwwaterwaysmap
Bridge graffiti - Shit Boat. . . . But far better than breaking your balls trying to pay a mortgage. He's back! Looking forward to the summer adventures. I may even buy you some coal. I mean beer, yeah, beer would be better.
Ha ha no am moored in Boston on a tidal river so not much chance of that thankfully. Getting a bit warmer now but still v cold! New video coming for you very soon! 8^)
Hi Robbie can you travel on the Trent to formerly and then on to Lincoln in a Dutch barge. You.l probably know my dad as well . His name is Ken based at Leeds dock right by Mumtaz Indian..
Why would you buy a Dyson Vac, they are very expensive and only have one function. You should have purchased a Wet/Dry Vac then you could have used it to clean up big messes like toilet/shower overruns and you could use it to clean out the gas locker if it got wet or instead of bailing your boat you could vac the water up. They are a bit noisy but for all the space you don't have, I'm sure it would have served you much better than a Dyson.
I am not really a Dyson fan, but, having seen one used in the very worst environment for a rechargeable hoover, it was simply the only one that worked and out lasted all others. till it was pinched.
Hippys? Living the breadline? I heard you won the lottery? And any money you get via the Patreon 'crank it crew' gets withdrawn in notes and straight on the ole burner? .............. only joking :)
Robbie please take the time to read this comment Amazon sent me a pair of tunnel lights suitable for narrowboats free of charge to do a review on behalf of the manufacturers I would like to send you one free of charge and with no obligations at all I enjoy looking at all your videos and I am sure you could put it to good use if you could let me have a forwarding address all the address of your Marina I could send it there for you or have a chat with Johno he has my number asking to pass it on to you and you could text me and I will forward it to you as soon as possible all the best look forward to hearing from you
Ok if you're sure I'll squirrel it away somewhere for you but I will probably forget where I put it I'm planning on going to crick Boat Show this year if ditto let me know Rodger and out
