I am still figuring it out Tim. The perfect split isn't ideal for smaller logs but the big logs are just awesome to watch go thru it

Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. Congrats on the your new equipment and the start of a new chapter in OWB's history. I'm familiar with Japa's sister company products in the Hakki Pilke range and the Scandinavians know a thing or two about wood processing. Initial impressions of the 405 are very favourable, particularly the system for clearing the splits onto the conveyor, which is often a challenge on other systems. The pressure will be on you to source correct sized wood in sufficient quantities to increase production, justify your expenditure and to ensure that you "sweat the asset". Hopefully we will learn more about the financial in due course as we are aware that costs rise extremely sharply onnce you exceed 12 to 14 inch diameter capability.
@ohiowoodburner
@ohiowoodburner 2 года назад
I have already noticed my "365" logs are too small for the 405's perfect split system. They will go thru it fine but there is too much waste...the 365 is faster with the smaller wood. I am going to try the traditional knife in the 405 and see how it goes.

The Japa 405 is a great addition to OWB. Looks like you’ll have to find a diesel powered refrigerator to hold the Dr. Pepper while you wait for the perfect split to go through all of those 14” logs you can now run through the machine.

@@ohiowoodburner Finland ranks as the world's happiest country based on the 2021 report, with a score of 7.842 out of a total possible score of 10. The report writers credited the citizens of Finland's strong feelings of communal support and mutual trust with not only helping secure the #1 ranking, but (more importantly) helping the country as a whole navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, Finlanders felt strongly that they were free to make their own choices, and showed minimal suspicion of government corruption. Both of these factors are strong contributors to overall happiness.

Al, I've given up watching "In The Woodyard", since you made your initial appearance operating the 22MB. I am highly disappointed that no one (excluding yourself) can effectively operate it, and its producing too much that requires re-splitting. Its way too complicated, big and clumsy. Delivering that 22MB was a failure!

@@garylaszewski7380 sorry you feel that way. I have only ran a firewood processor 4 hours of my whole life. So I'm sorry I didn't live up to you stringent quality. I'm sure you can do better You need to understand that none of the other people including Chris have never ran any equipment more than a small tractor. Chris will get better when he gets a bunch of hours under his belt. Also I do believe that Andrew is going to be sending a 12 and 16 way wedge so hopefully it will cut way down on the amount of resplits needed. Wish you would give a man a chance before drawing your conclusion.

@garylaszewski7380
@garylaszewski7380 2 года назад
@@aldredske6197 Al, you were the only one that could effectively run it! Good job! It was painful to watch others operate it! Hence, I quit watching. However, I did watch the current video, and observed it was heavily edited. For a brand new $120k machine to produce this poor of a showing, with 1/3rd of the output requiring re-splitting, is a huge disappointment. Would you estimate 1/2 hour with a tractor bucket or excavator, to change out the splitting wedge to a 12 or 16 way? Versus 1 minute for the JAPA 405? When one sees the $60k JAPA 405 hit a grand slam (Ohio Wood Burner) on its first use, with no resplitting needed, I just shake my head. The 22MB, is only suited for a large commercial wood processing operation, with an expert (Skidder Kev) operator. Its way overkill for In The Woodyard. Even Skidder Kev would likely get tired of all those levers. He's a demon on his 48C with the joystick.

Last year I called Eastonmade with the recommendation to automatically adjust "wedge height" based on the thickness of the "round". I heard nothing. This year, during a "Skidder Kev" Podcast with Chris at Eastonmade, I proposed the same suggestion. The answer was (in so many words): "we looked at this and decided it was too complicated". Now, the JAPA 405 comes with sensors that measure "round diameter" and compute the number of "perfect splits" to perform. A machine that costs half the price of a 22MB "practically" comes standard with this!!!??? I am impressed with "the quietness" of the "perfect clean" feature. And, no re-splitting is necessary! The 405 is "pretty much" usable "right out of the box" by rookie operators. And, you have a USA distributor that sets it up for you, and shows you how to use it!! BINGO! This is still a "one man show" processor with high feature content, big power, and usability. If this isnt the best processor based on features, output, and price, please let me know "what beats it". ENUF said!

Hi Joe, Congratulations on the new processor, I’m not fan of chainsaw processors just got to much hardship with chains falling off and getting dull all the time. We got a Posch 375 circular saw blade processor and never looked back. I recommend you look into the Posch firewood wrapper it saves a lot of stacking 👍👍

I have considered the Posch Pack Fix but I'm still not sure. Looks like a pretty good machine

Health to enjoy Joe. That machine is awesome and you are a great guy. Those naps machines are brilliant. Some of the other machines are just too big. I have been watching in the wood yard and he has got an Eastonmade made 22mb but I think it isn’t right for him. He does wood like you and will have too much resplitting to do with a lot of scrap. That japa goes through wood like a hot knoifr through butter. Tim Anderson from Northern Ireland

You are sooo right about that 22MB, and the inability of "In The Woodyard" to use it. Finnland has "hit the bullseye" with this 405!

@@garylaszewski7380 to be honest I think is a fantastic worker he is a machine but I don’t think that 22mb is right for him. It’s for boiler wood

Yes, nice wood! What you maybe loose in speed you will win in quality and uniform shape/size when it comes to stacking and making bundels. As a representative of the Finnish people (who made the machine) I wish you all the best 👍🏼🇫🇮😁!
