The Holy Grail is one of the most important relics of Christianity. According to Christian tradition, it is the cup Jesus supposedly drank from during the Last Supper.
Scholars are not certain if the Holy Grail ever existed. But there are many contenders vying for the title of the real Holy Grail and the Cathedral of Valencia tops the list. The vessel attracts pilgrims from all over the world, and has even been used in Christian ceremonies by Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI.

And btw, this church isn't the only one claiming possession of the "holy grail", there are dozen others with their own story backing them. Imo at the end of the day it doesn't really matter, I doubt even if it's really the cup Jesus used, it's just a cup, now Jesus being actual son of God is a debate for another day, but worshiping of an object is against all Abrahamic religions, and if Jesus is watching, he would probably be very disappointed by it and that we went to wars for centuries, killing countless just because of some holy land and a cup.

I wonder what Jesus would say about such fascination and obsession over a physical object. It doesn't sound like it is consistent with the spirit of Jesus and is yet another distraction from the messages of love and compassion.

In 1 Samuel, chapter 4, the Israelites make the mistake of thinking that The Ark of the Covenant itself would bring them victory in the fight against the Phillistines... they were defeated because they a) thought The Ark itself would save them, despite the fact that b) they had stopped listening to God's guidance and were doing whatever they pleased. Time and time again, the Israelites were warned about idolatry, which will always be relevant as long as we are tempted to make anything more important than God. I can't speak for all Christians, but for myself, trying to follow the will of The Lord, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit will always be more important than touching whatever objects Jesus may or may not have touched. The importance of "The Grail" is a reminder of how Jesus shed his blood for our sins, so by believing in His sacrifice, we would be redeemed to Him for all eternity. And by our repentance, our relationship with God can be restored, and we are free to receive and grow in daily renewal. Hallelujah!
@DrejaAndi

@@G2097 I was thinking about idolatry too, and how the obsession over this object is similar to idolatry. I think the things you say here are beautiful, and can relate to most of it. Yet I often wonder if people are easily confused and manipulated when rather simple ideas of love and compassion are turned by clergy and other "experts" into very abstract, complex, and even convoluted relationships that require a complex flow chart to even begin to understand. I imagine that Jesus spoke pretty plainly and directly to most of his followers about love, compassion, self-awareness, virtues, etc. and that over the centuries, other people purposely made these ideas much more complex than necessary to that we would think we need them in order to act as middlemen and interpreters. I don't think that Jesus would even have supported the idea of clergy, someone who holds such power to limit and restrict your relationship with God. We can see throughout history how this power has been abused and the evils that have resulted from it.

@@JimboJohnsy The point isn't that there is no cup mentioned in the bible, the point is that the Holy Grail is a celtic myth grafted onto Christianity. Again, a grail isn't a cup, it's more of a gravy boat. Read any of the grail myths and you will hardly hear mention of Christ at all. The grail myths are entirely pagan in their substance and values. It is comparable to when a pagan deity would be re-christened as a Christian saint, perhaps merging them with a biblical figure. You could point to the biblical figure and say "see, they are in the bible," which would be like finding a tree in the bible and saying "see, Christmas trees aren't pagan" or finding a hare and saying "see, the Easter bunny isn't pagan." The cup of Passover, or the cup used at the last supper, is not the grail of the grail mythos. The cup used at the last supper was just a cup.
@WickedFelina
@WickedFelina 2 года назад
Let me detail the differences between the Judeo-Christian and pagan or Celtic uses of a grail or chalice so that you, and Christians may understand both. Please forgive if I forget the many uses of a cup in pagan myth. The grail legend isn't as old as the ceremony as described in the Gospels or in the Hebrew Bible. The ceremony can be dated by the Tanakh supported by archeological excavations of Hebrew settlements, dating up to 2 millennium B.C.E. In Celtic myth, yes people used wine vessels. Everybody drank wine. Human, and child sacrifice was popular. The sacrifical victim has a last meal in which they drank a fermented beverage, which includes mead and beer, so they would be in a state of partial or full inebriation prior to sacrifice. We have analyzed bog bodies all over Europe, (a/k/a sacrificial victims) and discovered a lot about what took place. Even sacrificial children were discovered at an Altar to the Moon Goddess Diana or Artemis in Greece. The Gods were thirsty to say the least. - Slightly different in Judeo-Christianity. The people of Canaan were pagans originally. It took a long time, because habits die hard, to end sacrifice to the gods in all its various forms. 1st, YHVH stopped Abraham from sacrificing Isaac by grabbing his hand, shouting "No!" then, telling him he would provide the sacrifice. "Look!" Said God, there is an unblemished ram caught in a thicket. This was the prophesy of the sacrifice of the Messiah being an unblemished (pure & sinless) ram to wash the sins away. The ram was pierced by the thicket of thorns as Christ would be crucified and a crown of thornes placed on His head. "This will be your sacrifice until I give you one that will last for all time!" This is a clear prophecy of Christ, one of hundreds in the Old Testament, yet not recognized by all Hebrews at the time. The sacrifice of animals was the last vestige of paganism. God asks for no blood sacrifice. In Isaiah YHVH says "Bring Me no more vain offerings! I do not delight in the blood of animals!" For He is not a pagan god. In the New Testament, to His Father, Christ repeated the passage of Isaiah adding "....I will go down. I will be the last sacrifice for ALL time." Ending the practice of blood sacrifice. The cup commemorates the last sacrifice where wine is tran-subatabtiated into the blood or "LIFE" of GOD. Blood, not even a drop of an animal is to be injested as YHVH said to Noah after the flood in which he came from world of sin, a concession was given. Since Adam and Eve. YHVH or God forbade humans and animals from eating meat, Kosher law was laid down. "You may eat meat as a concession to sin, but you must not drink it's blood. For blood is the LIFE of the animal." The only LIFE we are to drink, is the LIFE of GOD. The Passover ceremony was to commemorate the night when the Angel of death passed over the homes of practicing Hebrews, faithful to YHVH. Blood of an unblemished, young, male lamb was painted over the door to signal to the Angel of death to passover. The blood of the unblemished young male lamb washed sins away for one year until YHVH sent a Messiah, so sins would be cleaned for all time. Christ, being man and God became the "Sacrificial Lamb" or the scapegoat, unblemished who "Took upon Himself the sin of the world" washing sins away for ALL time. Death, or eternal death was conquered. Christ drank of the Passover cup commemorating the Old Covenant between God and man in which the Passover feast was commemorated. The,"Grail" was also believed to be the cup which Mary Magdalene used to capture the blood of Christ as He died on the cross. CELTIC MYTH: The "platter" you speak of is from the legends of the grail written into French authors. These date to a millennium after Christ and three to 4 millennium after the Hebrew Bible or Tanaka. The "Grail" in Arthurian myth or Percival, was also possibly a quest, or rite a candidate or squire, completed before being invested into knighthood. In the case of the Templars, a coronation was a part of the investiture.

1 question. Why would there be a holy grail in the first place. Think of this for a minute. Jesus ate with His disciples often. So why would the cup he drank from at the last supper not have been washed with all the other dishes that day? Nobody knew it was the last supper with the Lord. I also dont believe Jesus would have drank from an exotic or expensive cup. That doesn't sound like the Jesus I know. He didnt required to be put up on higher grounds than the people who He came to save. There is no magical holy grail. If you want to know the truth about it believe in Jesus. Stop worshipping and spending riches on material items that cannot help you or anyone else gain eternal happiness and life through Jesus Christ. Give riches to the rich and Bibles to the poor.

No one knows what the Last Supper really looked like. Da Vinci just painted it in his image so we don't know for sure what the damn cup even looked like for sure. It might have just been a throw away similar to how we use solo cups these days. We will never know.

The Holy Grail was the cup that Jesus used at the last supper in the upstairs dining room. Did Jesus and the disciples bring their own cups or were the cups provided by owner of the room? Did Jesus or any of the disciples take any cups out of that dining room with them when they left? How did Joseph of Aramathia get a hold of that cup in order to capture the blood of Christ on the cross? Did the owner of the dining room give that cup to Joseph of Aramathia? Not likely, Holy Grail stories are very nice but I dont think were real. PLEASE give me your thoughts, How did the cup get to the cross?

So you really think that a poor man would bring out a gold cup for a dinner service to a bunch of dirty vagabonds? VERY likely the cup that was allegedly used would have been of clay or wood, picked up with all the other dishes on the alledged table and washed or tossed. If everyone went around saving everything Jesus had touched, there would be a collection in the Louvre!
@christianfrommuslim
@christianfrommuslim 2 года назад
I agree that it is unlikely that the cup survived. I agree that it does not matter. Salvation depends on the heavenly Father taking responsibility for the sins/ugliness of the world he created on the cross as Jesus. But the documentary is correct that clay and wood can be considered "unclean" because they can absorb contaminants.

This is obviously fake. The last supper happened in a simple and humble house. How can the cup so luxurous? Not to mention, it's idolatry to worship the grail. Why not focus on Jesus instead on material things claiming to be one that Jesus used in last supper. Those people are evil, using the name of God to take advantage of people who do not seek the truth.

The Holy Grail is not an object. It is not a person or a animal. The Grail is the sacred truth as given from God to his son to be then interpretated to man through Christ's disciples. In particular this knowledge was passed to Mary Magdalene for as a Chosen was to take guardianship of this truths and protect the sanctity of knowledge. Knowledge cannot be stolen or bribed for it is intended for education and tuition of the enlightened. Most people are illiterate therefore it has little value but that is why it was expressed through word of mouth. The first scribes were accountants and so modified the interpretation of the sacred laws of Christ. Not surprisingly 2000 years of reinterpretation has led to omissions and additions rendered contradictory to the spoken word. Commodotisation of knowledge is impossible other than through the spoken word. The chalice or Grail is a artificial construct of greed and avarice and the spur for movies and empire mythologies. Enlightenment can be only obtained through sacrifice and faith. As Mary sacrificed herself to Christ and took the sacred knowledge on. Faith cannot be measured or judged for it is essential for life itself. That pulse of life that warming of the heart and the first breathing of air. As Christ is my saviour these words are true. Mary was the resurrection of Christ and through her I was born. Look towards the light and keep a straight pathway for she is your saviour. To betray her would render you blank of mind and devoid of spirit and the dying of the light.

The Pharisees & Sadducees tried to trip Jesus up often , on their man made beliefs & rules that weren’t of the bibles teachings, but if their governing society. Reminiscent of Roman Catholic Churches inserted self importance of lavish greed & self importance above all the colony of churches .

They are all so sure, but really did not put forth a convincing argument. The fact that the Original has been dated from either the 1st or 2nd Century CE, and the rest being made in the 11th Century could easily mean the cup was made after to give more credibility to the Christian cause at the time, and the rest made so the Priests in the Middle Ages could have something to wow the people with and attract them to their Churches.

the real Holy Grail is the Cup of Princess Urraca (Cáliz de Doña Urraca) and it´s in Leon (NW Spain) It is a cup formed by an humble onys bowl dated : I Century BC, covered with gold and jeweels by the princess. about year 1.070. It was hidden, but nobody knows why. I guess because it was a present from the muslims. The onyx bolw came from Egypt about year 1.060

In the words of Indiana Jones, that is not the “cup of a carpenter”. Jesus made it clear that he was not royalty. Although being infinitely powerful, he was born poor, and went out poor. The Grail is probably a wooden or pot metal cup lost to time. No way that it was a cup made of gold and jewels.

"God", gave us humour😂 Everyone has 1 thing in common, none can prove it is or isn't... Yet everyone claims it is , The French, The Romans, The Spanish, now whom would Christ leave the cup with... Mmmm it would be those close to him... People across the world, fight over whom created "CHROCHET"? For everyone wants a higher level of applause, The European countries, fact is all countries across the globe😂 😂😂 I started crocheting at the age of 8, I started looking at single steel hooks and threads, and I truly believe in commonsense. Fisherman used single long wooden and steel rods with hook points on the end, to weave nets to catch fish ... Going back further, cave people used their hands and fingernails to thread and fasten things to build and toat food in etc. But the steel CHROCHET hook was the +Fishermen of ancient times+ The Valencia cup of Christ is a symbol that was left to all , for he is the light, the truth and the way.

They think they have the holy grail but I have the chalice, I use it almost all the time while I’m at my computer working, my favorite drink I always add to it is a root beer float, sounds like a weird thing to add to the holy grail itself, sure, but it’s just cause it’s my cup lol, they must’ve just completely forgotten how my cup looks like and found one “diamond encrusted” in some church, in its own glass case, but I see stories after stories after stories… I don’t think I’m god,I cannot turn water into gold nor walk on it, and nor can I turn wine into gold while everyone’s very much so aware that I almost never drink any alcohol, so my blood isn’t 24/7 wine consumed like by its own taste, those who can afford to drink wine for their entire lives likely own the earth or their credit card has an endless amount on it. I cannot perform miracles, people might call others with long hair as guys Jesus just for having that alongside a long beard and mustache, but the reason he had that on his face back then was more obvious then ever as to why, shaving was not made in the first century lol They think Jesus can levitate off of the ground or walk on water, but who sees that actually happen without realizing, if someone’s doing it somewhere today…. They likely went outside early in the morning to a big fountain to hide glass in which they’ll then take home after pretending for enough people that it’s real. Look, all I’m saying if not saying I’m Jesus, is just…. *smh* I have the “holy grail” as it’s apparently called, the holy chalice etc etc… but I swear I found this in Egypt, while I although don’t speak Egyptian, it doesn’t matter, you don’t have to tour the world while knowing all the worlds languages each place speaks to have fun going everywhere, if they wouldn’t understand cause of lacking having any experience speaking their language, that’s why you can bring friends or a tourist guide with you, what did I do? Well, neither of those things, I only took a road trip for a vacation over to Egypt, I’m still young and just a very excited to travel anywhere around the world person, did I buy it? Actually, I found it buried a ways down in some sand, I have to actually extract it by hand cause no-one was around, so whenever o start each morning to resume going back to working at home as I always did despite Covid existing, why do I work from home? I’m a online artist.

every family in palestine would have had a kos kiddush, perhaps up to 100.000. Although a wealthy man who hosted the last supper could have had an agate kos, a wandering preacher most propably would not. He would, however, most certainly possess his own kos kiddush. His followers often call him rabbi, its hard to imagine he would walk the land without the tools to perform the most important rituals. My guess is that a crusader looted the beautiful and precious kos kiddush and brought it back to spain, where it was later mistaken as the wholy grail, either because the real story was forgotten or on purpose to increase its value.

To be honest while the historical evidence is solid (for a historical narative), and its been dated by scientific method (If I'm not wrong), I still doubt its The Grail. Because If the grail is real, there would me miracles left and right around it. Literally The God drank from it, and possibly some of His blood was collected in it. It'd probably inspire more fear than desire to worship. But of course, that is just an opinion of mine.

Yes. you´re right. And that´s why the Chalice of Princess Urraca is a better candidate : In this Cup, the gold envelopes the bowl in a way that the priest never touches the old onyx cup with his lips, because the gold cover. The old agate of the Chalice of Valencia is "naked". If you think as a priest of Century XII or XIII... you probably don´t dare to put your lips where Jesus did. Sorry my poor english, please. :D.
