Today we're going to be working on compressing vocals in FL Studio. I'll be using Maximus on vocals. This will work on both some EQ and compression for the vocals. And then using OTT to do some additional compression.

Descriptive terms for sound engineering bother me, words like "crisp" and "bright"|... no. It works for clients because generally they don't understand but for me it's frustrating because it makes it sound esoteric or philosophical (and unprofessional). Another thing that bothers me is with modern producers' obsession with increasing high-frequency signal. Just because it is louder doesn't mean it sounds better. A lot of modern music just sounds harsh and loud becasue the high-frequency signal from all the instruments and voices has been turned up to blast through mobile speakers and the like.
