Plug and play is where that tech has gone. Perfect for a weekend away or non super serious traveller 🤙 Great vid

Great info, I've been looking at a similar hub setup and one that caught my eye is the HardKorr 12V control hub with 6 led switches, 40A DC/DC and a 500A shunt built in.

I think these all-in-one boxes are great for people that don't know much about 12V especially what sized wiring / fuse ratings / locations etc to use, I would always do my own as I can customise the setup to do whatever you want, but it takes a lot of research to make sure you get it right,

On mine, the wires weren't crimped properly and often pulled out of the crimp until I went through and recrimped a whole stack of the fittings. Disappointing.

Great video. I was going for the go further battery box with DCDC4O, though i'm thinking of this control hub with a slimeline battery. Cheers 🍻

I like the idea of a control hub as everything is in the one place. However they take up too much space & I don’t need half the stuff on them.

Somewhat off topic - but still relevant lol. As great as the Victron smart shunt is, i've also found that it too can be quite inaccurate when compared directly to the BMS of the battery, sometimes by as much as 10%! Everything wired directly to the shunt so there's no external power draws, but I have found that I need to recalibrate it to 100% SOC semi regularly when I verify with the BMS that it is in fact full.

Hey mate, appreciate the tip there! I'll keep an eye on mine. 🙂

Agree, I have Renogy Lithium Smart 200A, and put an external monitor on it to test out various models, the Renogy 500A one was pretty much spot on to the internal on on the BMS, I transferred this one to my other non smart Lithium battery and it's been good, another brand (not Victron) was out by 7% - 10% after about a weeks use and just got worse after that because once it looses it's accuracy it gets worse with each charge / discharge cycle, which it shouldn't because it's programmed with a 100% and zero% voltage and current, so it should be able to keep track easily but it couldn't, I re calibrated it a number of times and it still got lost so I sent it back.

$2999 for a 400 amp battery is wild.

Do you use the ignition wire/switch?

Why did you change the 3 pin anderson plug to a 2 pin? Can't you leave the 3 pin plug if you don't have a smart alternantor?
@explorebound
@explorebound 7 дней назад
Hey mate, I didn't change it, the 3-pin plugs accept 2 or 3 pin connections. 🙂 Mine currently only has +/- feed (no ignition feed), because I'm planning to install a higher-rated 'non-smart' alternator, so didn't want to waste time running the extra wire.

@@explorebound Can you do a video on installing this, I'm interested in the cost

@@-PORK-CHOP- Will do! I'm still in the research stage but hopefully will be able to sort something soon. 👍

my itechworld DCDC charger failed after 18 months and I had to fight for them to repair / replace. Now I don't trust their after sales service.

Got a question you have a 2021 Dmax correct? Just wondering to why you haven't run a ignition wire to the Hub?

I’ll be swapping the factory ‘smart’ alternator out soon with one that provides a bit more power and doesn’t have the smart functionality. 🙂

2 faulty 40amp dcdc chargers in 8 weeks and I know I’m not the only one. Very disappointing experience and no local service agent. 3 week delays is not acceptable when travelling

Oh bugger mate I'm sorry to hear that, can imagine that's frustrating and appreciate you sharing your experience as all I have to go off otherwise is my own experience with mine (which touch wood has been good so far with mine working ok).
