I think it might be fine for two or three cards plus cash, keeping it slim. maybe if you’re going out and only want to bring an id a credit card and cash oalong with your phone it might be fine.
I don't really care much for wallets like this in general. I'd prefer to keep each separate and while I do like minimalist wallets I usually need a bit more than this. That being said I would high highly recommend trying the magbak cases. No other mount solution offers such a great slim mount and has no case bulk. Alternating polarity makes for a super strong hold to the magsticks but the case will still stick to metal surfaces on it's own as well. (Server rack, tool boxes, even car doors). It has never damaged any of my cards, even tried putting them right against the magsticks. It WILL wipe those crappy old hotel key cards flexible but I'm not to worried about that.
I've tried 4 magnetic wallets before settling on the magbak one, it's the best one by a long shot, that slot on the bottom to push your cards out is a way better design than just the thumb hole that most of them have, and the finger loop is so convenient. I will say however that I almost never use the kickstand feature
I just picked up this wallet, and had the same initial reservations. I'm on day 2 of having 5 cards stuffed in there to stretch it out, hoping it gets more flexible so I can easily use 4. I just need 4! I really want to like this and am hopeful. Waiting for the pixel 7 pro case from them to release around thanksgivnig. Tried the peak design but it kept causing overheating issues due to poorly aligned magnets. No thanks!
Thanks, it odd how he felt it was the "worst wallet" even the complaints are sort of personal views - and you have to use this with the case to really see the value. And it's real leather - use it for a few days with 3-5 cards in it and it will expand and become easy to slide in and out.
I have the case and the wallet for my iPhone 11 pro. I like the combo because I can easily detach the wallet and still be able to wirelessly charge my phone in the case. Other wallet cases where the card/wallet component is fixed to the case will not allow wireless charging.
Thanks for the review. I liked the wallet but the leather loop broke on mine in a year and a half. They said it was out of warranty and only offered me a 15% discount. For a $50 wallet this seemed to be a design flaw and I was disappointed in their minimal discount. Premium brands should carry a premium warranty or replacement program.
I've had mine for just a month and the leather has already started to tear. I just requested an exchange for a different model (Saffiano) as it seems a little more rugged than the one I got (Nappa). Hopefully they'll come through.
the wallet works if you only carry 3-4 cards and some cash. it beats the other wallets out there with weaker magnets and being able to only hold about 2 cards
This is hands down the best minimalist wallet I have owned. I carry 8 cards in it and I have my other minimalist wallet with cards I don’t always use. It’s a great system. I don’t understand why some people will complain about the wallet disconnecting when you put it in your pocket. If you want a thicker phone case that holds three cards, go for that. Briefly, a slim case and an attachable slim wallet- great system hands down
Chrispy Things alright well I guess it’s up to people’s requirements. 1) a wallet that you can stick to a metal plate next to your door or the door itself so you can grab it before you leave. 2) can stick to something essential that you won’t forget 3) isn’t bulky and you can still wirelessly charge Know any others that fits these requirements?
I look at functionality when using a wallet. And this was one of the worst. Yes it conveniently carry’s cards on your phone but if I can’t access them easily, what’s the point? Keep in mind, this is only my opinion. You have yours, and I have mine. Feel free to record a video talking about how great this wallet it.
I personally use this wallet as my everyday go to, along with a MagBak case. It's perfect for me as a driver/commuter. I keep three cards in the card slot, my license, MetroCard and cash in the cash slot - if you spread out your cards instead of cramming them into one side, I'm pretty sure your issues with getting the cash out would be solved. The product probably would've faired better had you experimented with your placement a bit more.
Do you use it as a kickstand? I’m thinking about getting one but I’m worried about how it will work as a portrait mode kickstand (I never use landscape). Thanks 😊
Angela Zuniga-Jones In landscape mode the kickstand feature doesn't work well at all. In portrait mode you only get one viewing angle that works, but that might depend on the weight of the phone. I have the largest phone so it's gonna be the heaviest but even with that weight it still works!
The wallet is an add on to the magbak system. Magbak system as a solution to mounting your phone is pretty solid, I use the case for my phone and the stache for my iPad both of which stay on my dash with the magnets no problem. I used the Scosche magnet mount system for years but it’s sort of an eye sore on my dash. The magbak magstrips are minimal and non-intrusive, and actually look like they should be on my dash. All that said the wallet is an add on to the system I don’t think that they did a good job marketing it that way and I wouldn’t really carry it as my EDC wallet, but it keeps me from having to mix and match solutions with my phone mount, case, wallet, and finger strap. Totally agree the price point is way outta line too! Just my thoughts.
In my job I have to make solutions out of thin air and make things work that typically don't. I immediately saw you could turn the wallet around facing downwards and put it at the bottom of the phone. When you fan your cards out they would fan out into open air and eliminate your spacial issue. It will function beautifully.
@@ChrispyThings close-minded much? Your issue is the cards Express themselves upward leaving a very tiny gap between the cards and the phone not allowing you to get your fingers in there. If you spin the wallet around so the cards eject out towards the charging port they would eject out in the open air with no obstructions allowing the wallet to function like it does when you pull it off of the phone eliminating your problem completely. You can lead a horse to water......
@@djfhsbdufje666 Reverse engineering is an immensely fun job. I literally get excited for what's next. They actually pay crazy sums for something I'd do for free as a hobby. You kind of captured it in a nutshell kiddo.
Oh boy. So this is made for the magbak case. You can use the wallet with just the stash, but it is not the primary design. The cash spot is for emergency. Most people use only card these days. I have had my magback case and wallet for 2 years and love it everyday. Awesome for people who don't want to track down everything when leaving the house. And I have gotten 7 cards to fit. You just didn't give it any time. Calling it the worst wallet on the market is a sham.
I am a fan of MagBak products. The wallet is just a secondary wallet to me since I can use Apple Pay at most stores. Do we actually need use of every card in our wallet on every day? No. I only need my DL and 1 or 2 other cards. I use the wallet for trips out to dinner or going to work. I was first drawn to these cases after using the Scoche magnetic system. I loved their mounts but the metal piece you needed on the case killed wireless charging. So I started looking and found MagBak. The cases are nice but I’ve grown tired of the soft touch cases. For my new 13 Pro Max I did order a black case and the Magstache kit so I could make use of a cheap clear case. My wallet has moved from one phone to the other without issue and my car mounts are nearly invisible and work great. I want them to expand the cases they offer, both the material and the designs.
What about Drivers license, health insurance, Costco card... Everything you said I agree. I've already asked them to send it back. My cards at 3 are hard to get out
Here is the thing about the Magbak Wallet. Yes it is magsafe compatible but it really shines when you have the Magbak case to go along with it. Your review was good but the magbak case I would say is almost necessary for the wallet.
I’ll agree with that up to a point. I used the alternative to the case that was offered on the Magbak website. All made by Magbak, not aftermarket. So it should still work and function the same. My problem was also with the functionality of the wallet as well.
Just got the wallet. it's not tight at all. it's a really good ecosystem of products. You just need to squeeze the sides and the cards can be retrieved at the corners of the wallet.
I have since a year. Use it with 14 pro max spigen magsafe case or without a case at all, without any magnets and it works perfectly. I have 8 cards inside, not holding money. No kickstand though.
If the wallet is designed to insert the card from right or left it would be better. From the top, its hard to reach out the card when it is attached to the case.
I feel like the complaint for not being able to fit 7 cards is a little ridiculous. I mean modt magsafe wallets are at the 3-4 mark like the official apple one. If you need 7 cards then these minimalist wallets arent the product for you.
This thing sucks. I wasted $20 on this like a year ago. You should try the Bad Idea Supply Minimalist Wallet. Holds 6 cards but has a satisfying click and locking mechanism for just one card. Super cool looking, lightweight, and RFID blocking. I love mine. Only wish they offered different sizes.
Chrispy’s review of this product has made me distrust all other reviews he does. The product is really great and is my favorite case wallet combo. The hate is completely uncalled for
Chrispy Things I strongly disagree. Perhaps it’s just not a good fit for you. I’ve had the MagBak Case + Wallet for 2 months now and it’s hands down the best combo I’ve ever had. This wallet is for the lightweight carrier, not for someone who always carries cash and multiple membership cards. Most things are digital anyways. I carry my license, 2 credit cards, and my Costco card for gas ;) this wallet is very well made, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. Highly recommend
I've only recently subbed but I've been binge watching all your videos. I recently bought the Trayvax Contour but it's great to see all these other wallets/ EDC gear that I've never even heard of before. Keep up the amazing work, your channel is awesome.
Here are my thoughts. I have had the MagBak wallet since it first released and I've carried it on my iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone 11 and now my iPhone 12. All it takes is the new case for the new phone (which I'd be buying anyway) and the wallet stays the same. I switched from using a Silk wallet case, which I'd used on all my phones for several years, to the MagBak with the iPhone X because I wasn't happy with having to remove my cards from my Silk case every night to use the Qi charger. I had the same reaction to the MagBak prices that you had but after looking at all of the options I decided that as a long term wallet I could live with it. I do think that 1Lss overprices all of their products pretty heavily and I wish they'd modify their pricing but it's clear that they think they've got a premium product. That's the biggest problem, it isn't a premium quality product. I've had multiple cases show up from them with issues, most recently the iPhone 12 Pro case which doesn't even fit the phone properly. My wallet has also had quality issues with the edging peeling off and exposing the steel plates underneath. They did replace the wallet and they have always replaced the cases that have had issues but it's still a mark against them that those issues were there in the first place in my book, especially at the prices that they charge. Now, as for the wallet itself. Yes, it does start out tight but it'll stretch out over time. I typically carry four cards and a single bill folded in 1/3rds in mine. I don't try to insert or remove the cash with the cards in place, I always take the cards out because that seemed to me to be the right way to do it. I guess you don't like that but I don't see it as an issue at all. Actually, I think I've only used the cash that's in it once and then replaced it because for me cash is only an emergency backup, I'm using Apple Pay or a physical card 99.9% of the time. My wife has a MagBak wallet as well and she carries 6 cards in it. She hasn't had any issues with her wallet at all. I had to pop one row of the stitching to get the finger loop to the right size but I use that loop every day all day long when I'm using my phone. As the iPhone grew larger and larger I started to actually get joint pain in my pinky finger from holding the bottom of the phone with it and that loop has saved my pinky. The size of the wallet on the back of the phone is a nonissue for me and it is easily removable and can go back in my pocket if I need it to. Using it as a stand is useful but also flawed, the wallet is so thin that it doesn't grip a table surface well so I have a hard time getting it to stand up very well. If that feature worked better I'd use it a LOT more. Overall I'm happy with the MagBak wallet, I just wish it's pricing and quality would justify each other. I also have a set of the MagStache/MagStrips which I used on an Olloclip case for a while so that I could use a lens system on my iPhone X and XS. These stick-on magnetic strips fulfill their intended function but they are not a long term solution. Over time the adhesive weakens and the strips start to slide around and eventually peel off of the surface that they're stuck to. In the process they create a sticky, gooey mess. That wasn't fun but thankfully the sports season ended and I didn't need the lenses anymore so I switched back to the MagBak case. The MagStache is a waste in my opinion. They should just sell the strips in a four pack and ditch the stupid and ugly mustache version entirely. The MagSticks that they provide for mounting in the car or on other surfaces sound like a good idea and are of much higher quality than the MagStrips, I've only ever used one of them though. I'm not one to stick things on my car's dashboard, that hurts resale value and there's not really any good spot anyway. I actually do have one stuck on the wall in the shower though and it makes a nice spot for my phone to sit high and dry and play some music. So, I do like MagBak's phone cases and wallet but they aren't perfect and they are certainly overpriced. I think that at $25 for the case and $30 for the wallet they'd be a good value, especially considering the quality of the products. I've bought in to their ecosystem though so I'm likely to continue with them at least until the wallet falls apart completely (which doesn't seem like it will be any time soon). Having said that, the debacle with their iPhone 12 cases has me currently using an Apple MagSafe case and MagSafe wallet. The quality of Apple's accessories is phenomenal. The functionality of the wallet however I find lacking having grown accustomed to my MagBak. There's no finger loop, the wallet slides off of the phone far too easily and yet is harder to take off on purpose because it's back hugs the phone more closely. The wallet is also extremely small, only big enough to fit three cards and no cash. I'm also finding that Apple's silicone is much grippier than the finish on the MagBak cases which makes it harder to get my phone in and out of my pockets. I'm looking forward to MagBak fixing their iPhone 12 case so that I can get back into the MagBak wallet.
Wow ngl I like this written review more than the video, lol and I didn’t mind the video. I just purchased the wallet and case and so far I agree very much with most of your assessment (if not all).
wow What an awesome write up. Could you please make RU-vid review videos! MagBak just launched new MagBak cases for 12s / which now support both MagBak + MagSafe, also their new MagBak wallets are MagSafe compatible. Which means best of both worlds. Now you can use Magbak cases with my apple's MagSafe stuff + MagBak wallet.
@@ronnyi3714 That’s very interesting. I have pretty much ignored MagBak since getting my iPhone 12 Pro due to the fitment issues that their original version of the MagBak case had making it unusable. The did eventually send a replacement but by the time that came I had moved on from the Apple MagSafe wallet to a MOFT MagSafe wallet which I absolutely LOVE. I’ll take another look at what MagBak has going on now if they’ve embraced MagSafe. Maybe I’ll even consider making some videos.
I have the Dango wallet with the aluminum case that slides off but got the case and wallet for a quick convenience of metro card and my cash app card lol 😂
I have an money clip that uses a magnet to hold bills and several slots for cards. The magnet works well if I ever want to blank my hotel room card. Yea I forgot about it once and put the room card in the same pocket. Big hotel... had to walk all the way back to the desk.
It works very well if you get their case, i had folio types case, UAG card case, a sena with a card slot and i have to say that so far the magbak case with wallet is the most versatile i had so far. We can all like different things and go for a beer!✌🏻(or 2!)🤷🏻♂️
That’s fine. But I’m failing to understand how the functionality of the wallet changes just by getting their own branded case. My issue with it was the total package yes, but still greatly disliked getting the cards out of the wallet. 👍🏻
In my opinion that really sucks , I had seen advertising for that wallet but im.glad you did a video on it . Happy I went with a bunch of trayvax wallets.
Thanks for the candid review. That wallet does not interest me. I believe if they used elastic on the sides it may work better or the top opened kind of clamshell-ish. I do like how they tried to incorporate it with the phone especially the kickstands.
As a leatherworker, I think your opinions aren't that developed. 1. You fit in too many cards into that small spot. Five cards are stretching it already. I make the similar card wallet and I wouldn't slot in beyond 6 cards. The reason it can only fit in fewer card is because of the bulk. Do you like to hold use a phone that feels like two phones? Do you like you to feel taking a brick from your pocket when you wanna use your phone? 2. The standing feature is actually useful for many people, may be just not for you. I often find people finding something to rest the phone on a slanting position, such as a glass or box. The wallet has a multi-purpose use to it. 3. It's detachable. There are other phone case designs that has card slots. Do you know how bulky they are, even without cards? You can't remove the card slots with those phone cases. This card holder gives you the option to detach it when you don't want to hold a brick for a phone.
And I think you should go read the card capacity that this company claims that can fit in this wallet. They claim 6 cards. I could barely fit 5. Explain to me please how I was trying to fit too many cards again?
I have developed a counter argument to your opinions. If that is all you have to say, then I'll just leave as it is. Also, one card difference in capacity isn't justifiable as the "worst wallet". Leather stretches. One or two weeks of use isn't enough.
No. It’s the worst wallet because it’s damn near impossible to get the cards out of the wallet. I mentioned ALL of this in my video. Or did you misunderstand that too?
@@ChrispyThings yeah the one that attaches to your phone. I'm actually juggling with two phones so I'm looking for a wallet that can be attach to either phones
Wtf is up with you carrying around 7 cards and trying to use a minimalist wallet lol. Minimal wallet minimal stuff. Of course you shouldn’t be stuff all hell into it.
@@ChrispyThings heard of crazier things. I may have been lucky as all my rewards cards I can use either through apps on my phone or by taking a pic and scanning the photo from my phone
What do you mean? If you’re talking about me demonstrating how many cards fit based on the company’s claims...it’s called a review. If you’re speaking in general then, I don’t know who. Maybe that’s what they want to do. Neither you or me are here to tell people what to do with their wallets now are we. 👍🏻
Chrispy Things Your review was informative. I wanted to note the irony of a minimalist who would be stuffing a minimalist wallet. Yes, a minimalist shouldn't be stuffing a minimalist wallet. No, making that observation isn't an attack on you, your channel, your content, your character, or life.
This is the most bullshit review lol. The Apple Wallet also needs time to wear in to be used properly. Didn’t notice you mention that at all. It doesn’t take a month for the magbak wallet to break in to the point where it’s nice and smooth. You can even slide a tracker into the cash slot and have room for 6 cards instead of the measly 3 apple gives you. Apple wallets are also notorious for ripping apart in 6 months.
So when I reviewed it, the only way to attach it was with the terrible system I showed in this video, or buy their expensive magnet cases. OR you had to have an iPhone X. My issue is with how terrible the functionality is. This wallet sucks bud, get over it. You must work for this company.
@@ChrispyThings Their "expensive" magnet cases? You mean the ones with 6 different magnet locations? They're a whopping $4 more than Apple's $3 china cases. Man I wish I had seen this 9 months ago. It holds 3x more cards than Apple's. It doesn't rotate around the magsafe ring like Apple's because they were smart enough to add a second stabilizing magnet at the bottom. The magnet INSIDE THE WALLET is also strong enough to stick your phone with the wallet attached directly to any metal surface, no sticky magnets required. Doesn't look like you even paid attention to the bullshit you were spouting. And nah, don't work for magbak, sorry. I do build rockets though. I've got shoes worth more than this channel.
So many people disagree with your opinion. It isn’t the worst wallet. Ive had one for 2 years and love it. I carry 5 credit cards and driver license. I don’t have problems removing a card. Jeez. The whine about removing the wallet form the phone is so absurd. It is simple to remove and reattach! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so I’ll grant you that. Anyhow…by this wallet is the best I have used - compared to 4 others. It isn’t designed to replace a bifold wallet. The purpose is minimalistic. Don’t try to make it something it isn’t!!
I honestly don’t care who agrees with me or not. My opinion stands. Just because you bought this atrocity and need to justify it doesn’t mean my opinion is wrong. And this is the best wallet you’ve ever used? Look at my channel and you’ll see 100 that are leaps and bounds better. 😂 Oh, and it seems the only person “whining” around here is you. Buy a better wallet. Have a nice day
@@ChrispyThings actually, I stated that “I grant that everyone is entitled to their own opinion” - I respect that. But expecting the wallet to hold more CCs that designed is an unrealistic. It is a minimalist design. I wish it held more…but for its design, it is a great wallet. And most people tend to favor it. But thanks for sharing your review. Some it is accurate and correct, and good information for users that haven’t purchased one. For that - the video is spot on. But it isn’t designed to replace a full size wallet….only a small portion of it.
I carry 7. 1 credit /debit card. 2 store rewards cards. (Tim Hortons & Tops) Drivers license. Health insurance card. Emergency contact info card. And a gps tracker card in case I lose my wallet. So the answer to your question is me. I carry 5 (7) cards.
@@ChrispyThings try Stocard I’m seriously not a sponsor or anything but it’s 100% free and all it does is store all your reward cards digitally, no costs, no fees, no sign ups i think I’ve used it for atleast 2 years now no problems
Im sure I will. I was a little disappointed when I found out the m1 rails aren't compatible. I missed it on the twelve days of dango I could have got the rail for free. I ended up with 30% off you dig💯
