i've had a ninja creami for a few weeks now and let me tell you some things to get the perfect texture: 1. always include some form of liquid in there before freezing, it helps to bind everything together and then I only have to re-spin once more and it comes out perfect. 2. Include some thickener of some sort, otherwise you risk getting a slushy texture after the machine blends it. I always create a vanilla base and then add flavourings etc after. So I do most of the container full of milk, splash of cream, and half a packet of some vanilla pudding Jello... tastes great and gives it an ice cream texture after blending. To do mint choc chip, just add a teaspoon of mint extract to it and mix together then freeze. Then add choc chips after as a mix-in! 3. Always make sure your mixture is level before freezing otherwise the blend can be awkward and the blade can break or cut into the plastic. 4. If your mixture is coming out crumbly after the first mix, it means you haven't included enough liquid before freezing or enough sugar/thickener. You can always add a splash of milk then re-spin, or just make sure your initial mixture includes a liquid and thickener, then you only need to do a re-spin, no additional liquid needed. My family have been obsessed with my flavour combinations and the texture! Let me know if they work for you!
@@oriel9347 I have even attempted to make baked beans ice cream. Yes it works and comes out creamy but it didn't taste so good. I think next time I will add more flavour but defo going to try again! Remember, if you can freeze it then you can cream it! Cider makes a great Sorbet, especially kiwi and lime or strawberry and lime mmmm
Hi Grace, if you add a tablespoon of whole milk in your ice cream or juice , if its a sorbet after the first spin when its crumbly it will come together nicely on the respin. Also, the recipes that come with the creami are not very good. Recommend looking at others who have posted online. Made the best strawberry ice cream ever using mostly whole milk, some cream, sugar, a small bit of stabilizer (cream cheese in my case) and fresh strawberries. Came out amazing! Using all double cream doesn’t work as well as a milk cream mixture for texture. Give the strawberry one another go without using full cream and it will be better. Also, there are so many non dairy recipes out there. 🙏💕
Make sure you let it set out of freezer for 15 min before you put it in the machine and make sure the ingredients are level..take a spoon and level it up 🥰
I started using the Creami last summer. If you do fruit based ice creams, like the strawberry one, if you macerate fresh strawberries (or defrosted frozen ones) in the sugar/sweetener for 5-10 minutes and then whisk that mixture into the cream/milk of choice, it'll come out better and not so separated. The blade in the machine doesn't reach the edges of the container so it doesn't damage the blade, which leaves a little bit unmixed each time. But you can scrape down the sides afterwards
I'd been seeing this everywhere too and was wondering if it's any better than a blender. Seeing you by your stove/in the kitchen took me back to you trying subscribers recipes during covid lockdown. Crazy to think how it's already been 3 years and now you're engaged
so many ways to wrongly use the creami in one video lol, love your vids anyway haha, i was also underwhelmed when i first used my creami, now ive got the hang of it and makes some amazingly creamy ice cream with only 4 ingredients.
Years ago my wife found a 1950's style milkshake mixer at a yard sale, big metal cup included. It makes epic milkshakes. There's a reason ice cream stands use these things.
I just keep spinning the powdery ones until it becomes the consistency I like. Even if it needs 4 or 5 spins. Also I either leave the frozen pint on the bench for 5-10 mins before spinning or run it under water. And one last thing, possibly make your freezer a little warmer as there is a bracket of temperature ideal for the ice cream to turn out well. I’ve had the Creami for two weeks and we have made many many amazing ice creams, sorbets and protein ice creams with the only fails were when I’ve put in too much sugar and the guava sorbet (made from tinned fruit) had too many pips. Other than that, it’s been the best purchase I’ve made this year. We eat ice cream for dessert every night and my family is VERY picky.
Hey. Great review but have to say that I will agree to disagree with you. I have had mine almost 2 months and use it almost everyday, so far I have had almost perfect ice creams from it with so many options for mixins etc. The crumbling will almost always happen, its a known thing and is due to the mixture being too cold/frozen. I have found that leaving it to stand for about 15/20 mins or about 15 secs in the microwave before spinning really helps. You almost always still have to respin but I always add a capfull of milk just before and this really does help. You will also need to make sure that what ever you put into the tubs is mashed down so that it forms a solid block. Yes it will cream anything but you can't just scoop it into the pot, freeze then spin. You will also damage your machine/blade and tubs by doing this, the mixture needs to be almost totally flat for a perfect spin and to avoid any damage. I just hope people don't follow your example and just scoop into the tubs then end up damaging their machine, this would be dreadful. Used properly, the Creami is a great piece of kit. Yes, its expensive but used correctly and often its well worth its money. I have managed to pay for mine more than twice over with what I have saved in not having to buy ice cream from the shop.
I have a Zoku Instant Ice Pop maker. I think you'd LOVE that!!! You keep the little container in the freezer, but it makes an ice pop from juice, soda, smoothies, etc in just minutes! They even have kits to make decorative pops. If I could send you a wedding gift, THAT'S what get for you. 😊
I wonder if your freezer is colder than the one ideal for the recipes. Maybe leaving the frozen mixes out a bit would help, or just routinely adding a bit of liquid before blending? I have a high speed blender and like to freeze bananas, then add a small bit of a creamy liquid, and the tiniest amount of liquid makes a HUGE difference
My freezer is very cold, and I microwave my frozen mixes for 30 seconds before spinning. It makes a huge difference. And the majority of stuff needs a splash of liquid and a respin. So worth it once you get the hang of it ❤
@@lisalouise999 Totally agree. Is 30 secs a good time? what wattage is your microwave? I used to do 20 secs but brought it down to 15 then 10 but it also depends on how I have made the mixture
That's exactly what's wrong, and why everything is so crumbly I suspect she overchurned the cream in the the strawberry ice cream into butter... And she didn't follow basic instructions, like ensuring things were frozen flat, and expecting it to blend chunks of banana with custard.
hi! loved thisvideo! could please do another like this but testing recent viral recipes, e.g. rice cake tiramisu, protein fluff and tunacado sandwich?!
I have to let my ice cream bases sit out for about ten minutes after freezing, before I mix them up. I've had kine for about two years, and we love it and use it often!
Don't spin directly from the freezer! It isn't as bad with a paco jet (the restaurant version😊) but from my experience - a few years with paco, one sorbet with ninja - the ice cream needs to sit outside the freezer for like 5-10 minutes for the best result!
I had one for a month and really couldnt get on with it, returned and got the ninia 4 in 1 and its sooo much more useful and makes pretty much the same stuff bar icecrean
I've had mine for several months, and it just always needs have a respin, and I add a little liquid on the respin. I made the best protein mocha frappuccino today.... It was to die for. Perfect! For me, it's been worth every penny plus some.
I have and have used both and respectfully disagree. Vitamix makes great sorbet, it falls down on traditional ice cream imo. And the Creami doesn’t just do one thing, any more than the Vitamix does
Could you do it to make dairy free ice creams, and test it against a bough version of that flavour. I often find dairy free ice ice just isn’t the same as regular creamy wise or often texture wise 😁
Try this mixture. 1 can of pineapple in heavy syrup use only enough liquid to cover the pineapple, 3 tablespoons of coconut cream. Blitz with the immersion blender in the cup.
Frozen custard is a tradition in some Midwest American communities and much superior to soft serve ice cresm. We need ready made custard in our supermarkets.
i wish we had luxury custard in the US, the only custard we have at the grocery store is really cheap pudding meant for a kid's lunchbox. your mom's stuff looks great.
I have one and it normally powery if your freezer is to cold leave on bench for 10 min before spinning . i normaly re spin 1x and perfect . just straigh up tin fruit eg pinapple or fruit salad is great / healthy .
Hello, I have been your fan for many years. I love what you do. I hope to meet you in person at some point, I travel to the UK every year because I have family there. I send you a huge hug from Chile. 🇨🇱
No fancy gizmo's here. I use thickened cream and sweetend condensed milk, whisk the cream to peeks fold in condensed milk add the flavour you want like crumble oreos , cadbury drinking chocolate , melted crunchie bar, blueberrys what ever and freeze over night wallah!
Agree! We did tinned peaches too which was so nice. I saw a tip on a creami group which was to add a pinch of salt, it brings out the fruit flavour. Tried it and it worked a treat
I was going to buy this soon maybe I will after watching all these reviews. As a milkshake and icecream lover I really need this now. My summer is all about icecreams.❤ but then I will buy icecream and make shakes in my own blender 😂😂 too lazy to make anything.
Eeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I’ve been hemming and hawing over the Ninja Creami for a bit. Head to RU-vid to see what others think about it and voila, the Grackle is on ittttt. Going to pause, run to the kitchen for some biscuits and tuck in to this vid.
The Creami had an *upgrade* ! A new model came-out a couple of months ago. It has more modes (slush puppyyyy!!!) and can make bigger batches, etc. Maybe you could review the new one, too?
Hi, what’s happening is that your freezer is very cold. So, you mixture is frozen too hard. Take it out of the fridge for 10 to 15 mins, and then spin it.
Nothing is going wrong with your machine, the re spin button is there because it’s not as powerful as the PacoJet machine that it’s based on. Ninja know this and the re spin feature is a way to combat that Your biggest issue is thinking of the Creami as a blender. Ninja make a big point of explaining that it isn’t a blender, nor intended to be. I really think you should have either watched a few videos or read the instructions before giving it a go. I’ve used a friend’s and had great results from all functions. I really hope you have better luck once you’ve done that
When it’s used properly it’s simple and quicker than a regular ice cream maker. You almost want to do the opposite of what Grace did 😂 It tastes better than my Cuisinart ice cream maker. The biggest advantage is that the pots take up far less freezer space than a regular ice cream maker bowl and it’s overall faster
That thing is SO expensive ... I think I prefer my cheaper Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker where you freeze the vessel for 24 hours instead of freezing the ingredients. You DO have to use a blender or something first to make sure your ingredients will be easily mixed/frozen by the ice cream maker ... but that isn't much of a problem.
The Creami works on exactly the sme principle, only it’s faster and the part that needs to be frozen is much smaller for those who maybe don’t have the freezer room for the large bowl of a traditional ice cream maker
Watch out for plastic in your dessert. The blades on my Creami shredded the sides of the tub into tiny pieces and I ate it thinking it was tough buts of frozen pineapple 🤦🏻
If you have to pre freeze everything the day before anyway, I’m not sure it’s any better than a standard ice cream maker 🤔 probably takes a lot of experimenting before you find the right way of using it 😊
Well now .... I make an easy ice cream from frozen berries and soy cream with a bit of “whatever” to sweeten (depends what I have to hand) - blitz either in my Vitamix or my Ninja blender. I suspect commercially frozen strawberries would be better to make ice cream with - rather than fresh and home frozen - as the commercial blitz freeze turns them more mushy Frozen banana has been the basis for vegan soft ice cream for decades ..... again a Vitamix or Ninja blender will get it to the right consistency - good blitzed with chocolate (however, I’m not a big fan of banana so, if you are, I reckon it’d provide a good base for a soft ice cream)
I have the creami and I feel ur review is misguided misinformation, u didn’t read the instructions it tells u what to do if it’s powder and how to make ur own, never had a problem by making my own recipes or followed from the book.
