It’s not slum, it’s an old residential area. Each building there is owned by one family. The rent there should be much cheaper than you can get from a modern apartment but the price of a property is much more expensive because they are detached houses in a city.
I'm African American and I was somewhat offended by your comment that the motor scooters are China's main mode of transportation. China has cars like America, a high speed rail service and various modes of water craft. I haven't been there but hope one day to experience these fascinating and determined people and their ancient lands and cultures. China rocks. Futuristic cities with people everywhere enjoying life. It's a wonderful things to see but I would really like to visit. Peace and Blessings
I meant the scooters, both electric and fuel powered are the main means of transportation in the exact place I was when recording the video. Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion.
HAHAHAHA! I have seen MAAAAAAAAAAANY toilets in CHina.... compared to the USA... CHina is a medival state. COmpare the best toilets in the USA to the best toilets in CHina... guess whos gonna win? Or even easier... BEst toilet in CHina wins against worst toilet in USA... ok. 90% of best toilets in CHina wont win against 90% of worst toilets in EU. WU-MAO!
@@ozzyfozzy4261 Im from the UK... Born in a town in midlands, went to Yorkshire for Uni, now in London. Ive seen it all. Dont kid yourself, UK is in a bad place right now.
@@ozzyfozzy4261 Seriously? thats you're argument? Either you're 5 years old or you've never been to China and one of those ignorant right wing plebs who just listen to what social media has said. Go back to school, Learn to think for yourself, trust me it will do you good in the future. Keep your racist anti chinese views to yourself, the world doesnt need it.
@@ozzyfozzy4261 Seriously? Thats your response? Either you're 5 years old or You've never been to China and one of those people that just listens to Social Media about the world. The symbol you see in front of doors means 'best wishes for the new year'. I suppose they just keep them up because they look nice. You will see the same symbol on calendars.
That's not a slum. Those are just old buildings. Most of China is old. Endless old houses. Some should be torn down, but it takes so much work to rebuild that many people can't be bothered.
this looks very much like my hometown...... but now so many people move to cities and you don't see many people....... the population is decreasing and aging....
Chinese kids are taught civic mindedness. Rich or poor, it is right to be civic minded. China is still behind Japan, not sure about North= and South Korea in civic mindedness though. I hope it catches up in all of the world. It is free. It should start at hime and in school.
China is far behind Japan socially. People typically don't understand things like queuing - indeed waiting for people to finish speaking in conversations before they interrupt - you will regularly see women letting their children piss in the street and public spitting. A peasant in a 21st century city is a peasant still.
Dude, don't ever do this in the US. Walking around in white majority residential neighborhoods as a black man foreigner in the US can easily turn into something bad. They will most probably call the police on you 😅
@@ploplmao2655 What the ccp did to me is not important. I am more concerned about what the ccp (you say "china") did to the Mainland Chinese people. What would happen if someone went to Tiananmen and say "Screw Xi Jin Ping!'? Now think about what would happen if yu go to the government House of any other country and calked out "Screw Biden!" In a Western country you would not be taken to jail.
YOu will find only WAY better... me as a central europen would rather sht on the street. ANd as far as I know its not a big deal in China... saw pictures of a kid defecating in a subway so...
Cause its not a SLum... there are places WAAAAAAAAY worse and WAAAAAAAAAY more common than this... this is rather nice tbh compared to who CHina really looks like.
Should make very good retirement town but for the language and food. Good pace of life and looks very clean and I suppose the cost of living would be very much affordable.
@@xingislong The term "Wu Mao" (also known as "50 Cent Party" or "50 Cent Army") refers to internet commentators who are allegedly paid by the Chinese government to post pro-government comments and disinformation online. The term "Wu Mao" literally means "50 cents" in Mandarin, based on claims that these commentators are paid 50 Chinese cents per post or comment. Their activities typically involve: Defending Chinese government policies. Attacking critics of the government. Spreading propaganda or misinformation to shape public opinion. Diverting discussions away from sensitive topics. The existence and scale of the Wu Mao phenomenon are subjects of debate, but the term has become widely used, especially in discussions about online censorship and government influence on social media.

Listen toilet sniffer, if you want to talk about slums. go to a slum area. If you need help finding slums, many You Tubers here will give you suggestions.
@@xingislong A good start would be in Changchun, walking from Yongchun Lu to Pu Yi's museum palace. It might help to pinch your nose shut as well! I don't think your minders will allow you to take that walk, however.
@@holboroman I appreciate your opinion but the video clearly mentions Xiamen in the title. Changchun is not part of Xiamen so I don't think it is of any help to bring it up in this Xiamen video. It will also be of help if you could tell me what "minders" mean.
