I’m glad I can help. The coffee shop by the artificial lake is my favorite place. But the millennium bar is fantastic if you’re younger and you like drinking.

By all means check out the touristy things, but if you pick up a few words out of politeness, you can do a bit of exploring. Ayla’s Kunefe is made fresh to order, and is great with their tea. Antigua has really good specialty coffee beans they roast, and Hana has beautiful sweets and a decent cappuccino. If you can find a place with oshaf (sheep milk panna cotta with figs and cinnamon), go for it. The best may be in Gjirokaster at Kërculla Resort. The cafes in Blloku district are all pretty good - eat where it smells good.

We’re going to be there on April 14. We usually stay somewhere close to Skanderbeg Square just cause that’s where a lot of shops and restaurants are but really there’s a lot of stuff to do in any part of the city unless you get way out in the outskirts and then I guess you’d have to take a bus or get into the town some other way. We don’t drink or go to bars at night, so I have no advice on that but they have a lot of good food and it’s very safe during the daytime. We’ve never had any trouble there.
