Josh from ExpatsEverywhere has given himself 24 hours to fly from Portugal to Spain for an event. How easy is this and will he encounter any problems? The countries in Europe are close like the states in the US but are they as easy to travel to? Josh is going to find out. He explains why the quick turn around, gives you some prices of things, shows the clock so you can follow along, and ultimately gives his final thoughts on if this type of travel is doable and what he learned from the experience. Come explore with us!
* ABOUT US *
Josh and Kalie left the US for a life abroad in 2009 and haven't looked back. They have lived in Spain, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and are currently in Portugal. Yes, they realize they only moved to countries starting with the letter "S" until they spoiled that streak with their move to Portugal. Follow ExpatsEverywhere as we aim to get information to you through expat interviews, city breakdowns, expat life, travel, vlogs, and more.

Where have you been within Europe like this?

Lisbon.........it's complete madness at that airport this past week. I understand from the flight crew, it's kinda like that everyday. 😂

I have never seen the security line like that at OPO!😮

Me either! It was crazy. We've flown out of OPO more than a dozen times at this point. - Josh

Oh crap! We're flying out of OPO on Saturday afternoon! Maybe we should give ourselves some more time? 🤔 Amsterdam isn't going anywhere!💁🏼‍♀️ Thanks for heads-up! Great video Josh! ⭐⭐

Honestly, as much as I dread those early morning departures, I realized when I was there It was the best time (0400) to be at the airport (both OPO and most especially LIS) because no else is. 😄

Agree! Also, early morning flights are least likely to delay😁

Kalie and I are HUGE Arsenal fans. It's a problem. 😅 Our daughters first live match was Arsenal this year and then the USMNT in Dusseldorf. We'll take a beer and chat AFC...COYG 🍻 - Josh & Kalie

It's no different than flying/driving from Pittsburgh to Boston. In both cases, you can drive, take a bus, or fly. And in both cases, you'll probably chose a plane flight, as driving wouldn't be pleasant... and you'll have to deal with airport security.

Honestly, people who don't expect delays in the US can potentially run into the same issues. I'm in NYC, and even though we have Amtrak and major highway routes anything can (and does) happen. Last year I booked a cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale; I was able to arrive the day before and was glad I did because there were weather delays the following day, and there were people who thought they would arrive that morning for a 6 p.m. departure, and even though the departure was delayed by nearly two hours due to the weather some people missed the boat (and the next port was a week later in Funchal, which we skipped due to Covid!).

Sounds like a transatlantic repositioning cruise!
@alannahprestaynofbraavos5759
@@expatseverywhereexplores that's what it was! The cruise continued on doing British Isles cruises. I disembarked in London and spent time with my daughter (uni student) and then flew back to NY.

Josh, was your daughter named after the Spanish city?
@expatseverywhereexplores
@expatseverywhereexplores Год назад
Yes, when Kalie and I lived in Madrid, we were dating at the time and she lived as an au pair in the northern part of the "Madrid" and I was in the city. We traveled to Valencia with some friends and it was the place where I first got the courage to say "I love you!" to Kalie. A year after our move to Spain, we got engaged, a year after that, we got married, and nearly a decade after that, we had a kid. 😊 - Josh

I would love to see you turn this concept into a race between yourself and another person or two. Starting in Porto, who can get to Valencia the fastest, under a certain budget. Invite me. I'll challenge you to a race across Western Europe...

Did you find out what the deal was with the car?
@expatseverywhereexplores
@expatseverywhereexplores Год назад
Nope. We just assume since it was a hybrid that the gas started getting used a lot more when the battery was at E. When we got the car the battery (electric) wasn't fully charged. We ended up spending around €75 in gas round trip from Valencia to Murcia. - Josh
