Is Trophy and Achievement Support Important?

Upon seeing the discussion online for Shadow of the Erdtree it became apparent to me that there is no trophy or achievement support for this DLC on any platform. For now, that has swayed me enough NOT to play the DLC given that I was undecided anyway just based on time commitments for other games I’d like to play, I now feel part of the experience in how I like to ‘finish’ games is one more reason for me not to commit playing it. I understand that some people may feel this an odd thing but rest assured I will discuss that view point in this video. It was during that thought process I started to think more about Trophy and Achievement support as a whole and why it’s so important to me as a player, as well as all the other Trophy and Achievement hunters out there. So, that’s what this video is about and why I want ask and answer the question of is trophy and achievements support important.
I’m expecting a variety of views on this one so please feel free to comment below on what your opinions are around the trophy and achievement systems and whether you think Shadow of the Erdtree should have included support them. If you have any memories of unlocking trophies and achievements, please share those in the comments to as I’d love to hear them.

This video made me remember us trying to get the "Feet Firmly Planted" achievement in Halo and failing over and over again 😂

I think the sense of accomplishment that comes with getting achievements/trophies has got to a point where it is half the fun, it can change how you approach games and push you into different directions and side quests that you wouldn’t have done otherwise. I think that not putting achievements in a DLC or something similar is a bit of a waste as it’s pretty much an open goal in terms of adding a whole other kind of player base and getting people to interact with the game in a way that you’d like them to, plus people just like to have a little record of what they’ve done in front of them to make it feel more satisfying. Great video ☺️

Another banger of a video! I find myself conflicted sometimes about trophy hunting; I really REALLY love going for a Platinum recently, but if a game makes me replay it multiple times to get slightly different endings etc. it frustrates me - Detroit Become Human was a recent example for me The point about competition was a good one too, and trophies/achievements can definitely enhance the experience of certain games where collecting them all can be something you can compete with too.
