I’ve always felt like google and project based learning is the way to go. I haven’t done a lot of courses like that, but thanks for the honest review! I would have been really upset to spend full price on something to find it outdated and that the instructor wasn’t even being compensated.
@codevev
@codevev 2 года назад
Definitely! Hopefully it's just one of their courses that's that way. But i have to admit I still learned things having to implement projects by myself and spending a long time figuring things out, though not at a rate that I would have liked too.

DO you know anthing about the non tech degrees. Like the business analytics program? i'm looking for something that will help boost my resume / my 2 year business degree. Anything finance related would be great. that's the best one i found on there? any info would be great thanks

I'm in the same situation: I enrolled in the digital marketing nano degree and it's sooo freakin outdated: all course content is 4 to 5 years old and I'm shocked. I'm going to ask for a partial refund because WTF - I'm wasting so much time AND money for worthless information.
@codevev
@codevev 2 года назад
Yeah I was surprised and not in a good way. It wasn't totally worthless but definitely not $400 worth

Well marketing is not something that evolves that fast. The main concepts are the same as 20 years ago and even further than that. Funny😆
@codevev
@codevev Год назад
I would argue that marketing today is way different than 20 years ago. There's also a lot more research available on people's attention.

What else would you recommend instead of Udacity, if anything?
@codevev
@codevev Год назад
I think it really depends on your level and what you're trying to achieve. I've actually heard really good things about other Udacity courses, so if you want to get into Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence, maybe Udacity is still the way to go. If you're just starting out though, check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uoV7XL0H_VA.html But for a total newbie my general recommendation is usually to start with freecodecamp.org

@Tubz Udemy courses are amazing, and majority of time are only a fraction of what Udacity chargers (~$13 usd)
@codevev
@codevev Год назад
Good suggestion! Though I've only ever gotten a Udemy course for Calculus and not programming but you're right, it was amazing! I only did it after watching a lot of free content on RU-vid from the same author

Sure, you pay much money for the courses. But the projects need to be done / coded by your own (so you lear by doing), you get personal feedback and also they have a lot of courses. So you cant just tell Udacity's ND's are useless only because of the React course. ;)
@codevev
@codevev 2 года назад
I don't disagree. I just shared my experience and I still recommend Udacity as a platform to learn different skills, just not react :)
@beawarehelp6029
@beawarehelp6029 Год назад
Not personal feedback. They never gave me feedback. One project they just approved and another flagged as plagiarism 🤕😡😡 when i did not even know such github repo with solution exists

I don't think the employers will even consider that. Are Google programs any better?
@codevev
@codevev Год назад
Employers may consider that if you have a good portfolio you can show them. I haven't tried any of the Google programs, so I'm not sure if they're better. Probably depends on the path you want to take

Продают как курсы которые за 4 месяца дадут возможность найти работу на 100K$ в год.
@codevev

Возможно мне просто не повезло, и другие курсы более новы. Но спустя четыре месяца хоть и можно найти работу в теории, на практике это довольно сложно без опыта.

How much to take the courses?! 😮‍💨 definitely not worth it. I waited until they had the particular nanodegree i wanted available through a scholarship (business analytics) and I applied and got approved that way. I would suggest if anyone wants to take the courses but not spend money to do the same!

Usually it's more about what you can do and how you can communicate with people rather than what degree you have. But a masters degree would definitely help you get a foot in the door
