The USSR is not Russia. Unlike Russia the USSR had the money and logistics to back itself up. Not to mention the absolute swarms of men they had. The modern Russia is a joke compared to what they were. Plus this is likely a distraction to throw Russia off. If so it’s working.

Well, right now the Ukrainians have setup a Command Center inside the Kursk region. They are contacting local residence and asking them if the need transportation out of the region. In some villages and towns only old grandma and grandpa are left so the Ukrainian soldiers are going door to door and asking if they need food and water.

Well part of the problem is that you don't have hundreds of military trucks just lying around. So it going take a lot of time. Most Russian logistics are moved by rail, and that been blown up.

It is not grinding to a halt so much but it may be slowing down purposely as they don't have the man power to just keep going all the way to Moscow so they have to have a stopping point somewhere they feel they can defend and hold the ground . Where that point is depends a lot on how strong the Russian resistance is . I feel that Ukraine will be able to go further to the West more than the North . More to the East is also possible if the Belgorod incursion works .

Anyone that knows anything about war strategy can see that this really made no sense, except maybe to help moral. If they were to withdraw soon, I could understand it. They have many POW's and did some damage. But to try to stay is foolish, they just don't have enough troops.

Yet so far in 6 days they took so much land and are still advancing fast everywhere, 6 days and pootin still has not sent men to stop them. We will see how far they go before reaching the new front line, i suspect 30 000 sq km will be seized easily before Russia manages to slow them advancing, when they panic realising that most Russians support Ukraine now. There really is a chance like with wagner of Ukraine reaching Moscow eventually.
