Is Van Life Over? // moving to 40 acres of raw land 

30 years ago, when i was 29: i bought my 20 acres. It’s a beautiful thing to build a relationship with a piece of land. Congratulations and enjoy the most amazing, hard and wonderful thing you will ever do!

Linenea, I always take a deep breath and sigh when I see your videos pop up. It's because while I know I'm going to enjoy it very much, I also know your gonna give me some feels. I love how you are living your life without boundaries or limitations. You do what you want to do. I was born in an age when you self sacrifice because ... it's what you're supposed to do. So while I regret that I haven't lived the things I wanted, I get to watch you go out and do it. Thank you for sharing your doing and living. I get to experience a little of it through you.

I lost my sis a year and a half ago and am still grieving her but although I will likely be criticized for this, the worst loss I ever had was Sadie-the-Dog. She was THE dog of my life and I will never stop grieving her loss. It's something you cannot prepare for.

My baby dog Cissy Blue was diagnosed with mass cell cancer and given 6 months..I did homeopathy and gave my baby years. Her mass cell hadn’t spread is one reason. But I had a great Vet who helped do alternative treatments. I ache for her forever..

The immense grief you speak about visited me the very first day when my horse, Tyson, was delivered to the homestead. The dog, 5 cats, all my chickens and me are all finally moved onto my new 5 acre raw land homestead. Tyson, the love of my life and the WHOLE REASON I bought 5 acres, was struck and killed by a car 10 hours after arriving at his new home. I am still building my off-grid homestead, completely without my strongest, loveliest, reason and my best friend. I am a broken human, and while life still goes on and Walidog is very much in the forefront now, I still grieve the lost plans of spending my and Tyson's retirement living together on his land. March 15, 2023. The day part of me died. March 16th I got up went back to the property to begin my journey. It's been Rough. Beautiful. Hard. Exciting. But so far, worth it. ❤

I can’t wait to see what you do with your land. Having watched you for awhile I know you will have plans but they will change. I do agree when you have dealt with intense grief perspective on life is different. ❤

Where did you buy your 40 acres at? I’m looking to buy some raw land and live off the grid. Do you have any recommendations on where you’re at or place similar to that high desert area and who did you use to buy the land from. Any advice for a beginner and purchasing raw land and trying this adventure

I've always said "We don't own the land, we're just passing through". Leave it better than when we found it. It's a short time to dwell there.

A place to go to if another covid comes along!!! thats important. Many vanlifers were in a problem. All government land was closed. Even he expensive campgrounds were closed. People had nowhere to go.

There are certain accomplishments in your life where you feel a sense of pride. High school graduation, college graduation, your first "real" job, buying your first car. But, that moment that you get your first piece of property all on your own, whether it's raw land or a house, is an accomplishment that can't be beat. You may move on to another, but the first is something that will be cherished. I'm looking forward to all your adventures in land ownership. Good job young lady.

I cannot wait to see what you all do with your land! I would love to learn more about pottery. I remember trying it in an art class in high school and I loved it so much. Not sure why I never pursued it lol Might have to see what I have in my area for classes.

Look into water retention methods like has been done in Turkey Run Creek, and in Australia, India, the Middle East and Africa. Maybe check out Tiny Shiny Home and the swales they dug in their southern Arizona property. There are a lot of ways to slow water down so it absorbs and builds your water table, feeds trees, et cetera! Also, congratulations!

That's true love. Grief is the great human burden. It's so hard. I just lost my best friend of 17 years, a little Siberian mix kitty named Arthur. He was the gentlest, most sweet and innocent, loving creature. Nothing and nobody can ever take his place. I cry for him every day. You just learn to live with it and keep the memory of them alive in your heart. I know he's still with me; I just can only hug him in my mind now. Thank you for all the beautiful scenery! I love the red deserts of the Southwest. They heal my soul. And thanks too for the healthy food inspiration. You rock! Can't wait to see what you do with your land.

I lost my mom two years ago and the final few months was pretty much what you described. I suppose it does prepare us in a way.

I love watching and listening to your videos. I imagine you are like my daughter would have been, had i had children. Instead I've only ever had dogs, Siberian Huskies. And all of them have eaten some form of raw diet. I love that you do this, even being on rhe road. And the brands you use, i love and have used myself. And your pottery... I find since living in a van, I've become more comfortable with change. I thought I was adaptable prior to this, but travelling on the road has taught me a lot. I can relate to many things you mentioned in this vid. I thought becoming a more sensitive person as I get older meant that I was becoming weak, but its definitely not the case. I just appreciate what most take for granted. Also driving long distances. I am in my late 30s and now I am lucky to drive 4hrs in one hit. When I was younger, driving across states in Australia was so easy. Pfft 14 hour drives, pieces of cake. :/

Yes... I used to love that change was a constant...i depended on change in times of boredom..times of despair or heart- ache or just the excitement of seeing what was next.. Now as i get oldér...i just want change to slowdown I want to hold on longer to the memories...i want to get my pastrÿ from the little donut shop down the street..i want my door open foŕ friends and family to raid my refrigerator like they used too...i want to see those big old sweaty sneakers by my front door that used to annoy me....its still me inside the aging vessel.. and the losses make me feel like im already gone...so 'I' need to change and be my own navigator ...i need to stop dwelling on this while losing precious time to spend with my friends...my projects.. and myself......thank you for your touching story and good luck 👍 ❤🎉

Just found your channel a few days ago and already binged the build series but this is the first new video! You have this old guy thinking I should and could do my own van, and soon. I need a lot more power than you do though lol. I've never really settled in one place for very long, I'm starting to think that wandering around for a few years might be just the thing for me until I buy my own 40 acres and build my own house (in Alaska I hope!).

Congratulations I am so happy for you. And I know you will have a million suggestions. I also watch Tiny Shiny Home on RU-vid. They are a family of 5 that lives in Arizona. They do burms and swells. They build earth bag structures. They do as much as they can to be at one with nature. Please watch them they might give you ideas as to what kind of structures you would want to build. Currently they are building an earth bag home. Thank you for your time to read this. I hope you do but might be so busy.

Also, with older dogs (or any senior dog) it is beneficial for them to have WARM water in their food as it helps make it more enticing for them especially if their eye sight is deteriorating, their sense of smell (always potent) starts to become a "reason" if they will eat or not.
