It's not the content in the glass or cup that is magnetic but the megnetic field arround the magnet repelling the object that is holding the water. Magnets do NOT have any effect on pure water but has more effect to impure water due to the contents in the water.Sulphide, Copper, Irons etc.
However, I assume the point of using magnets against the body was the idea that Blood/Water would be encouraged to be attracted to that location of the body easier then normal blood circulation. Which is interesting because I never put much attention towards that idea thinking it would probably not be much effective. But you have shown it might actually be effective.
